did you Know? This summer, on behalf of all MBS parents, the PA sent acknowledgments to three MBS faculty members who welcomed new additions to their families. Natalie Marone welcomed a daughter, Mike Sturgeon welcomed a son, and Mike Kelly welcomed a daughter. Welcome to the MBS family!

New this year! On the first day of school, on behalf of all MBS parents, the PA presented a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card to MBS faculty and staff members as a small token of appreciation for what we know will be another great year!

Each month, the PA sponsors a faculty/staff appreciation day. Each grade is assigned a month to host and will be responsible for providing a buffet of food and drink for the faculty and staff to enjoy. Your class parents will be in touch with more details.

New this year! The PA now has an Arts Committee to help promote and support fine, digital and performing arts at MBS and would like to highlight the show currently running in Founders: Upper School Art – the Best of MBS 2015. Throughout the year, the Fine Arts program will showcase art exhibits in Founders Hall, featuring student, faculty and visiting artists’ works. Stop by and marvel at the talent we have at MBS!

Q: Why did you choose to get involved in the MBS PA?

A: This is the fourth country we have lived in. Because of this, I am constantly making new friends so I can settle into the country. Being involved in the PA is a great way to meet like-minded people and also to give back to the school where my kids are very happy to be.

If you would like to get more involved, please contact Melissa Simon at [email protected]. We have many opportunities that can fit your interests and your schedule.

stay in thE KnowEach week, reading MBS Monday is the best way to stay in the know, and it will always include PA announcements. New this year! The PA is launching a texting notification service through remind.com as another way to keep parents looped in to PA happenings.

Remind.com is an easy-to use notification service that will allow class parents to text brief, timely, one-way PA reminders to all subscribed parents in their grade.

To receive messages via text, text the appropriate code from the table below to 81010. If you have multiple children, you will need to send a separate text for each of your children’s grades.

If you have any questions about remind.com, please feel free to contact Stacy McCann at swmccann@ optonline.net. We look forward to connecting with you!

Zip codE night out sEptEmBEr 25, 2015A vital part of the PA’s mission is to build and strengthen a sense of community among parents, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of MBS. With that purpose in mind, the PA has developed a new zip code ambassador program which we are very excited about. The goal of this program is to provide our MBS families an opportunity to meet other families who live nearby (and are potential carpool partners!), as well as families who have kids in grades different than their own, hopefully sparking families to mentor each other as they journey through the MBS experience.

how thE program will worK: The entire MBS community has been divided into zip code clusters. Some clusters might encompass a single zip code. Others will incorporate multiple zip codes. The goal is that each cluster will contain between 20 and 40 families. Each zip code cluster has at least one ambassador who will coordinate activities for the cluster as well as facilitate communication among families. First up, Zip Code Night Out! Watch your inbox for an invitation from your zip code ambassador for a local gathering on Friday, September 25. We have included the list of all gatherings below. We made our best attempt to assign families to a cluster, but this program is about convenience. Please attend the gathering that is most convenient for you!

QuEstions? Please reach out to PA Zip Code Ambassador Coordinator, Kim Wachtel, at [email protected] or your local zip code ambassador.
