1 General The company HECO-Schrauben GmbH & Co. KG ordered an expert opinion at the ISB Block und Becker for determination of the bearing capacity of the concrete screw HECO Multi-Monti MMS-plus in the hollow core slab systems "COBIAX" Z-15.1-282 [7] and "COBIAX SLIM-LINE" Z-15.1-307 [8].

This expert opinion is based on test results which were gathered in hollow core slabs (i.e. ‘Cobiax’) are already documented in [5] and evaluated in [6].

The tests on galvanized screws MMS-plus of sizes 6, 7,5 and 10 were conducted at the laboratory of the fobatec GmbH acc. to ETAG 001, part 6 [2] using a crack width of w = 0,35 mm. The concrete specimens were casted especially for these tests with a thickness of 50 mm.

2 Screws and Basic Conditions Within this expert opinion only sizes 6, 7.5 and 10 of the already approved screws MMS-plus are assessed.

The manufacturers installation instruction and the specifications of the concerning ETA -15/0784 [3] have to be regarded.

3 Bearing Capacities and Notes The following bearing capacities can be determined from the tests described in [5]. These bearing capacities are valid for thin, cracked hollow core concrete members at a minimum compressive strength class C20/25.

The characteristic bearing capacities mentioned in Table 3.1 do not regard any safety factor neither for the material nor for the actions. Safety factors have to be regarded acc. to ETA-15/0784 [3] or EN 1992-4 [4].

The bearing capacities are only valid for skin thicknesses ≥ 50 mm and concrete strength classes ≥ C20/25. Increasing factors concerning a higher concrete compressive strength must not be used.

Installation in hollow core slabs has to be conducted by hand or by rotary drilling only. The influence of the usage of impact screw drivers was not investigated. A turn-through of the concrete screw has to be avoided, otherwise the screw does not bear the load.

Forwarding of the action on the screw into the hollow core slab is not the topic of this expert opinion. Only the direct load introduction into the concrete slab is covered by this expert opinion.
