ACADEMY
Your maritime training partner

Tap into three decades of experience in specialized asset
management and handling gas for the maritime and
offshore industry.
In the complex world of LPG and LNG, EXMAR Group
has developed innovative means of handling, storing,
transporting and trans-shipping gas and chemicals in both
liquefied and gaseous states. EXMAR Ship Management
not only operates and maintains these specialized assets,
but also supports the final stage of construction and takes
care of commissioning, delivery and certification of
new-builds.
High-end operations and management for gas carriers and maritime infrastructure
Today LNG pioneer EXMAR covers the entire LNG value
chain. Since we performed the first commercial ship-to-
ship (STS) LNG transfer, we have completed over 700
successful LNG STSs. We manage half of the world’s FRSU
fleet and are ready to operate the world’s first floating
liquefaction, regasification and storage unit.
EXMAR Academy’s trainers bring your crew the benefit
of technical and management expertise combined with
know-how and experience gained on a diversified fleet of
gas tankers and specialized offshore units.

ISO-certified maritime training partner in AntwerpThe impact on crew training of new STCW 2010 (Manila
Amendments) requirements coming into force as of
2017, has inspired EXMAR Ship Management to establish
EXMAR Academy.
This training institute is ISO 9001 certified by Lloyd’s
Register. It is the logical result of our tradition of in-house
crew training and skills development by our own highly
experienced staff officers. They have been trained and
coached in turn to educate colleagues and to transfer
technical knowledge linked to practical know-how.
Today we share our broad base of in-house expertise
and experience and our global network to offer quality
trainings to the entire maritime industry.
MCRM, liquefied gas and beyondThe core of EXMAR Academy’s offer currently consists of
Maritime Crew Resource Management (MCRM - BRM/
ERM) training and Specialized Training for Liquefied
Gas Tankers. Our trainers are experts in both topics as
these programmes have been mandatory for all EXMAR
Ship Management deck officers and staff engineers and
recommended for all other engineers for many years.
Of course we teach other topics too apart from the above
trainings. Courses can be organized at request and on
behalf of third parties as well.

Managing the human factor for safe and efficient teamsTo improve safety and efficiency, it is necessary to
understand what drives human behaviour and how
it can be managed. Specific attention goes to human
involvement.
MCRM is a course designed to develop positive attitudes
to communication and management skills. In addition, it
aims to generate a common vocabulary which facilitates
the dialogue about human behaviour and skills. It also
provides tools that can be employed in the operative
environment to stimulate the desired behaviour.
From academics to practice and backOur MCRM training combines academic knowledge with
a practical approach. The course has been developed by
Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) and is delivered under
license by highly experienced members of our seafaring
staff serving ashore and on board.
OAA has been at the forefront of Human Factor Training
for the maritime industry since its key involvement in the
development of the original Bridge Resource Management
(BRM) course in the early 1990’s.
Maritime Crew Resource Management (MCRM) training
CERTIFICATION OAA’s MCRM programme is certified by
DNV against the STCW Manila amendments
for mandatory Bridge and Engine Resource
Management training at the operational and
management levels. The amendments came into
force in January 2012.
