W riting is about approa ch ,structure, insigh t, coh erence, as we ll as felicity of expression. It isclear that throughout the summ er Mr Assange wa s dissatisfiedwith the book. W e be lieve tha t this dissatisfaction was an imp licitcriticism of Mr O Haga ns work.Accordingly, we d o not ag ree w ith Mr Assanges assertion tha tthis was a "significant and m islead ing inaccuracy".Although Mr Assange states in his press relea se of 27Sep tembe r tha t he ad m ires Mr OHa gans writ ing, he alsosays: "The draft is publishe d under the title "Julian Assa nge :Th e U nauthorised Autobiography"- a contrad iction in terms. It isa narrative and literary interpretation of a conve rsation be twee nthe w riter and me .... This draft was a work in progress. It isentirely uncorrec ted or fact-checked by m e."He is obviously unhapp y w ith the ap proach and structure of thebook.W e feel the be st wa y to resolve this is to invite M r Assange tosubmit a letter for pub lica tion, putting h is po int of view , wh ich w illalso be appe nde d to the review online, allowing him a righ t of

Wh at they will understand how ever is that these areopinions not facts.In this context, his claim that Julian Assa nge h as be en lionised for hacking into the se curityservices would not be taken to mea n that he h as pe rsonally hacked into FBI computers.Mr Assange claims tha t his site d oes not solicit anonymous sources of information. Is that right?Wh y then does his site provide a n electronic drop box for anonymous sources. Should he notremove the drop box if he doe snt wa nt anyone to put anything in it?With rega rd to the second point, the substantive claim is that the W ikileak s publications have putpeop les live at risk. This is an uncontroversial claim wh ich has be en wide ly made. W hethe r peoplehav e ac tually been killed is a moot point, but it is entirely possible that they h ave been a nd I dontagree that it is a basic matter of fact-chec king to establish that they hav e not.Notwithstanding the above, we have no wish to enter into a lengthy corresponde nce on this matterand, for that reason, I have a sked for the ph rases hacke d into the security services and got peoplekilled to be ame nded as attache d in order to resolve this comp laint.I f you would like to discuss the m atter further, please let me know ~Vn= irc clnea)-ah~
