Nothing’s impossible! At least, not for Jörg Kaiser, who heads the homonymous jewelry manufactory in Bischweier, Baden, Germany. Perfect technical solutions for enhanced wearing comfort and spe-cial originality are his passion. His business’ motto is: “The wearer

and her needs occupy the focal point of our work!” Anyone who takes a piece of Jörg Kaiser’s jewelry into their hands immediately feels its suppleness and lightness, and soon afterwards discovers its surprising functionality – for ex-ample, how playfully easy it is to open the ring clasps, which are integrated as decorative elements into the pieces of jewelry. “I don’t see myself as an artist, but as a technician with a special feeling for beautiful forms,” says this jewelry ma-ker, who is equally proud of his professionally equipped machine rooms and his goldsmith’s workshop. Facilities for making his own tools give him the freedom to pursue his creative approaches from the initial idea to the final realization. Jörg Kaiser, who works as adroitly with thumb-thick drills as he does with mi-niscule springs, weds individual design and high-tech to create jewelry with formal minimalism, special functionality and a special extra something that generates additional excitement. For example, the “Loops” chain, where gor-geous pendants snap into the aforementioned ring clasps, or the well-known bangles with flexible coil bracelets and integrated folding clasps that make it convenient and easy to put them on and take them off. The lockets and amulets become very personal pieces of jewelry that can enclose, conceal or present each person’s individual treasures. Light-as-a-feather earrings offer indivi-dual setting options for the utmost wearing comfort. And the “Ring inside a Ring” has an outer ring that moves smoothly around its inner companion so both rings conform perfectly to the anatomy of their wearer’s hand. Describing the extraordinary sensitivity that informs his handling of precious metals, Jörg Kaiser says: “I can sense whether a material feels comfortable or not!” No other substances are crafted in his workshop except pure platinum, high-karat gold, and – for the fabrication of supple coils – stainless steel. Like their boss, the five goldsmiths too are multitalented artisans who mill, turn, laser, make precision tools and cultivate the fine art of craftsmanship at the goldsmith’s bench. With a winning combination of discipline and passion, eve-ryone who belongs to this well-rehearsed team in Bischweier, Baden has mas-tered the art of manufacturing jewelry. Referring to the tenacity that repeatedly enables him to earn new patents and innovative solutions, Jörg Kaiser says: “I don’t like it when something won’t work!” This inventive craftsman is married to Martina Kaiser, who has supported his career and his business from their earliest beginnings. She took over the commercial aspects of the business, thus freeing him to devote even more energy to his creative ideas.

The couple launched their independent business from their home in 1984. But long before that year, Jörg Kaiser already knew exactly what he wanted to achieve. Born in Rastatt, he had always been fascinated by craftsmanship and function coupled with a fine artistic sensibility inherited from his mother. He learned the goldsmith’s métier in Pforzheim and worked as a model-builder, tool-maker and traveling jewelry salesman. These experiences helped him to develop a special feeling for this branch of industry and its beautiful products. Famed businesses in Germany’s “Golden City” line his career. A vision of his masterpiece had already taken shape in his mind’s eye long before he enrolled in master school.

“What do I really understand?” Answering this question brought Jörg Kaiser and his new business onto the right track in the 1990s. “I never thought, ‘How can I earn money?’ Instead, I always asked myself, ‘What do I genuinely want?’” Technically perfect solutions for individualistic jewelry with refinement and the best wearing characteristics: these are and always have been “his thing.” Jörg Kaiser’s breakthrough came with his stainless steel cables: extraordinarily supple coils are still among his bestsellers today. Not only is it flexible and nearly indestructible, it also feels delightful on the skin. “I didn’t reinvent the wheel. I simply made it better than everyone else.” Ever since, his technical know-how and precise tools have repeatedly enabled him to develop outstan-ding innovations like the “Ring inside a Ring,” which “No one else can fabricate as well as we can!” This certainty also helps to protect his innovations against imitators.

Jörg Kaiser spends much of his leisure time with his tool-making machines, whose company he always enjoys, but he also took and takes plenty of time for his family, his wife and two sons, who are now 20 and 16 years old. Hi-king in the nearby Black Forest and elsewhere, canoeing with impassioned athleticism, skiing: nature is an important counterpart to his work and daily life. “I’m a very contented human being.” Jörg Kaiser’s sense of proportion is one of the reasons why he can say this so convincingly. He doesn’t want to enlarge his business: “The bigger we get, the more I need to occupy myself with things that I don’t like!” This is also why he always enjoys visiting his cus-tomers, with whom he shares bonds of loyalty and friendship, in Germany and neighboring European countries. He also likes trade fairs, where he can renew acquaintanceships with customers from more distant countries. “Inspirations are everywhere and in plain sight,” he says. He looks forward to devising solu-tions to problems presented to him by partner jewelers. After all, there aren’t very many people who have his uncanny ability to sense whether a material feels comfortable or not …
