In 2011 a child collapsed on school premises in front of his peers and staff and died.The school community was in shock. The seminar will look at elements that helped theschool (as a whole) and individuals cope with the trauma both in terms of systems orphilosophies that were already in place and actions that we took.As the Head Teacher at the time I will talk through my personal, ongoing, experiences.

Rhian works full time at 2 Wish Upon A Star and is determined that every family inWales who loses a child suddenly receives the support they truly deserve. The loveand pride for her boys, along with her drive to succeed has seen the charity flourishand as a result Rhian has been recognised for her hard work on a number ofoccasions.Rhian is also very passionate about mental health and regularly speaks about herown struggles since losing her boys. She took part in a BBC documentary in 2017‘Mind Over Marathon’ raising awareness of mental health and speaks out aboutmental health following sudden bereavement.

It will highlight the findingsfrom the joint NSPCC research project ‘From Bumps to Babies’, and showcase thelandscape of perinatal mental health care in Wales. It will introduce the nationalNSPCC Fight for a Fair Start Campaign, and demonstrate the work being done inWales to fight to ensure all parents get the perinatal mental health support theyneed, wherever they live.

Lauren Du PlessisWhy Won't You Eat? (How anorexia consumed me)A patient perspective about my life and treatment with anorexia. I discuss earlychildhood experiences of sorting food and having difficult eating at school, to theonset of anorexia nervosa-like behaviour. I work through how multiple points ofcontact and lack of communication on my medical record led to delayed/confusedtreatment, and how I found the treatment that worked for me, through counselling,online resources, and MANTRA self-help. I also touch on how the lines between EDsare blurred - how I have experienced behaviours from several categories, and whatall of this may mean for other patients like me.

Charlotte Hopkins What’s co-occurring? The complexneeds of someone using substances

Complex and co-occurring needs are not easy to define and whilst typically link tosubstance misuse and mental health, there are other more broader factors to alsoconsider. The effect of a late diagnosis of Asperger’s in women, born in the 70s/80s, when therewas little recognition of Asperger’s, particularly in women, and a life of camouflagingbehaviours in order to find their place in a Society that misunderstands them. I willthen discuss the impact on an individuals mental health having had to hide andcamouflage behaviours and the journey to discovering your diagnosis andeducating others.

Ryan Donovan Surviving addiction and ChildhoodTrauma: Both Sides of The StoryI have many years of experience. Growing up with parents on drugs and all thetrauma that comes with it, I ended up being on drugs and other substances for manyyears my self and causing the same harm to others that was caused to me.I now mentor people who want to stop and find a new way to live. I have been throughtreatment, studied addiction and came out the other side. I now have enoughknowledge to stay on top of this disease and show others how. Its been a huge partof my life and I want to share my story with others.

Wellbeing tip: Set aside some time foryourself to do something you enjoy such as

a hobby, a walk you enjoy, read a goodbook or meet up with a friend.
