Insulated Preheaters
The heater element construction is identical to the standard heaters with the addition of a ceramic fiber mat 6-lb density, 3/4-inch thick, encased in stainless steel mesh, and protected by a stainless steel backing plate.

Many of these heaters can be magnetically attached to the workpiece for fast application by the addition of two magnet assemblies (Item No. 66001).

Clamp-On Heaters
Tailored for specific pipe diameters, the clamp-on heater is quick and easy to place in position and remove, making it extremely economical to use where frequent applications to and removal from the workpiece are required in a high-productivity workshop. The construction of the heating element is identical to the ceramic pad heater; sintered alumina beads providing electrical insulation and high-quality ceramic fiber insulation encased in stainless steel wire mesh, protected by a stainless steel pre-formed backing plate providing the thermal insulation. Camlock-style self-locking connectors are used on the termination tails. The clamp-on heater offers high production potential with minimum operational costs, clearly making this heater indispensable in a pipe work production workshop.Clamp-On Preheat Item No. 34000

Channel Heaters
Designed to pre- and post-weld heat treat large fabrications and vessels, channel heaters are usually positioned within the workpiece, creating a temporary furnace installation with a radiant/convective heat source capable of protracted or short heat treatment periods. Portable and easy to handle, they are suitable for a variety of applications, as they have a long on-site working life.
Working temperatures are up to 1500°F, but higher temperatures can be achieved using Kanthal wire as an alternative element material. Steel connector blocks or Camlock-style connectors are used for tail terminations.

Temperature Measuring / Instrumentation
Major Features of 12-Channel Hybrid Recorders■ The instrument records temperature and various
other industrial parameters on a 180mm chart in 6, 12, or 24 channels. Trace printing is differentiated by using colored dots with channel numbers printed in the dot color at regularly timed intervals. In addition to the dot matrix printing, digital printing of measured values can be selected or deselected. This feature allows for easy-to-read numerical documentation of process values.
■ Universal input. The recording range can be individually selected for every channel if so desired. The selection parameters include 10 DC voltage ranges, 36 thermocouple ranges, and 11 resistance thermometer ranges.
■ Universal power supply. The working voltage range is 100–240Vac, 50/60Hz.
■ Conforms to international safety standards: CE, UL® and CSA® (C-UL) approved.
■ All programming operations are done at the front keypad.
■ The keypad can be locked out after programming to prevent unauthorized operators from accessing the recording parameters. This security feature is invaluable to quality assurance–related documentation of critical path procedures.
Certificate of Calibration is included and man-datory in accordance with the Bolttech Mannings quality control program.

Thermocouple Welding Units (T.W.U.)
Tests by many authorities have shown that capacitance welding of thermocouples directly to the workpiece is the only way of ensuring accurate temperature measurement. During this method of attachment, the surface of the workpiece becomes the hot junction of the thermocouple, thus an accurate process reading of the workpiece is temperature obtained. Other methods of thermocouple attachment have been documented to produce errors of up to 125° Fahrenheit.

Control Equipment
Manual and Automatic Modes
The P-256 is a self-contained programmable profile generator complete with six channels of temperature control, each of which has a time proportional output relay. Each controller may be set to operate in either the “manual” mode, whereby an operator selects the output temperature set point, or the “automatic” mode, where the output temperature of the controller will follow is automatically generated by the set-point profile
generator. When in the automatic mode, the profile set point for any channel may be offset by +/– 90°F, or the set point for any channel may be clamped at any value between 32 and 2,000°F (+/– 50°C; 0–1,200°C).
For Use with Manual 6-Way Power Sources
Supplied complete with multi-pin interface cable and plug to mate with receptacle on back of power source. Cable adapters with six individual hubble plugs for older-style units available on special request. Fully wired with six-way Type K T/C jack panel, AC power cord, mounting feet, and top lifting handle.
You can expand to more than six channels by adding S-256 controller modules of six channels each.
Welding machines may be used to provide power for pre- and post-weld heat treatment operations. Control of the welding machines is obtained by connecting a controller fitted with a 300-amp input and output socket for each channel located on the rear panel.

Controlled Monitoring and Data RecordingThis ADM process is continually monitored with pertinent data logged to disk for later analysis and review. Data for any selected period can be downloaded from this screen to a floppy disk for historical record keeping and for review in a standard spreadsheet application.
The 1200 ADM incorporates a touch screen Pentium computer in the operator’s console that provides the man/machine interface, allowing an operator to change modes of operation or significant parameters in a given mode. Full password protection is provided to prevent any unauthorized or inadvertent changes.
Cost-Efficient SolutionThe Series 1200ADM from Bolttech Mannings USA addresses all aspects of this problem. This Automated Motor Winding Drying Machine (ADM) provides for fully automatic temperature control in the motor windings. It has operator-adjustable current limiting, temperature rate-of-change to dryout temp, and duration to be held at dryout temperature. It also provides for fully automatic switching of current through the windings, assuring uniform heating of all windings.
Many electric motors inside or outside a plant have a history of not meeting their Polarization Index (PI) Acceptance Criteria, especially with the older insulation systems found in these motors. Most of these test failures can be attributed to moisture intrusion. Before a motor can be returned to service, or before a high potential test can be performed, the windings usually require a dryout of the moisture to minimize premature insulation failure.
The conventional process of drying out motor windings is very tedious, time- consuming, and inefficient. It usually involves circulating current utilizing welding machines, which are not designed for that task. This can be a very labor- intensive process, and can cause winding and insulation damage in the motor as well as damage to the welding power supply.

The Bolttech Mannings turbine warming system is designed to keep the turbine warm in any power plant, reducing the fears of “slugging” water and reducing the required start-up time. This is especially helpful for today’s “peaking” power plants. The standard unit consists of three custom-wound transformers totaling 195 kVA. These transformers are full isolation and include a grounded static shield between the primary and secondary windings. The standard input voltages are 380/415/480 and 575. These are mounted in to a 72" x 72" x 24" cabinet, providing up to 28 zones of control. Several control packages are available utilizing well-known temperature controller brands. Others are available upon request. We provide relay contacts for the desired alarms so that the customer can connect to their control system using a PLC or other interface system. The controllers used will dictate the communications options allowing remote temperature monitoring.

Induction Brazing System S11-100KW 8–25KHZ
Induction brazing and soldering has become the preferred method of joining many electrical connections in the power industry. Utilizing induction heating, the parts can be heated faster than any other method. This reduces the possibility of damaging insulation in proximity of the joint and reduces possible “corona” effect damage. Injury by fire or combustion by-products to personnel is virtually eliminated. This lightweight system makes brazing simple and efficient, even in the most difficult locations.

High-Velocity Combustion UnitsBolttech Mannings’ high-velocity combustion units have proven themselves in all types of heating projects, where heat uniformity, accurate control, dependability, and safety is critical. Bolttech Mannings’ equipment has been designed with the customer in mind. Burner sizes range from 500,000 BTU/hr. to 20 million BTU/hr., each having exceptional turn-down characteristics.
Manual and Automatic FeaturesWe provide high-volume, uniform, low-temperature conditions that are essential at the beginning of an operational cycle. The units are designed to be operated manually with programmable automatic controls. Robust in construction, with a heavy on-site workload capability.
Portable and PracticalLarge steel vessels that must be fabricated on site are impractical to transport for heat-treating. This photo shows a gas storage sphere that, after on-site fabrication, was insulated externally. Bolttech Mannings’ high-velocity gas equipment was then used to heat the sphere from the inside, in essence turning the fabrication into its own furnace!

VaporizerThe vaporizer is used to convert liquid propane to gas at high pressure and, with the accompanying high pressure regulator, reduce the pressure to approximately 15 psi.■ Rugged steel frame construction.■ High pressure output regulator included.
