Please note there may be limited space available. Please pay close attention to the grade levels, dates, times, locations, and topics for each program. Any additional information will be posted at www.clarion.edu/ets - check in and check often! If an event is happening on a school day, be sure to inform your childs school about the planned absence. Complete required paperwork. Schools have the right to refuse excusal. All school rules apply! Transportation is provided where indicated by the bus symbol. Otherwise, call the ETS office to make arrangements. Bus will pick up near the JC Penney entrance of the Clarion Mall and the former Sears entrance of the Cranberry Mall only for trips indicated. Remember, pre-registration and a permission slip are required for all activities. Mail the attached permis- sion slip to the ETS office at the address on the bottom of the slip. Do not take to the school. Notify ETS if your child is unable to attend any event that he/she has registered for. This is very important as there may be a waitlist of other students and funds are often expended based on registration. Please prepare appropriately for weather conditions. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket/coat for outdoor activities. Edinboro University is known for their programs in Graphic Design, Gaming and Video Design, Criminal Justice, Ed- ucation, etc. We will tour the campus, listen to an information session and visit the Math/Science Depart- ment for a tour and presentation by Dr. Bennett who has taught a wide variety of computer science classes including Computer Graphics and Algorithm Design and Analysis. Lunch provided. A signed permission slip (included with this flier) and pre-registration are required.

Spring 2019 Events

To register for ETS events/activities:

Candid Conversations—Realities of Pursing Postsecondary Education

Saturday, November 9, 2019

9:00 AM—12:00 PM

Clarion University, Science and Technology Center, Room 120

Discuss the realities and costs associated with pursing postsecondary education. Topics to be covered include cost saving solutions to make college affordable, financial aid and scholarship search advice, and common misconceptions and mistakes in the finan-cial aid process. Speakers and a student panel will address questions and offer advice. Parents are encouraged to attend with students.

Go PA Wild!

Saturday, October 26, 2019

8:00 AM—3:45 PM

Explore Pennsylvania’s wildlife in this visit to Pymatuning State Park. Visit the spillway where carp are so plentiful that ducks walk on the backs of the fish. Linesville Fish Hatchery features native species to the Pymatuning Lake in a two-story fish tank. Be on the lookout for bald eagles as the area has one of the largest concentrations in the state. We will complete the day with a hayride and test our problem-solving skills at the Coolspring Corn Maze. Lunch provided.

Bring your income information (2018 tax documents), asset information, social security numbers, driver’s

license and your questions to receive assistance in completing your FAFSA. Computers will be available for

online filing. The FAFSA deadline for Pennsylvania is May 1, and many schools have earlier deadlines for

institutional aid. A PHEAA representative will be available to answer questions and help you file your

FAFSA. Pre-registration is required.

Note: Please obtain an FSA ID for the filer (student) and the parent at FSAID.ed.gov before the session.

Rosedale Technical College is a private, non-profit school that offers hands-on training programs in the fields of Diesel, Automotive, Collision Repair, CDL (Truck Driving), HVAC, Industrial Tech, Electrical and Welding.

Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit school that offers associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and short-term certificate programs. PTC offers over 30 areas of study, including online programs in the School of Business and the School of Healthcare.

The Case of the Murdered Mayor

Become crime scene investigators using observation skills and deductive reasoning to solve the “murder of the mayor.” This introduction to criminal investigation includes chemical analysis to ID over-the-counter drugs, test for controlled substances, simulate presumptive drug testing and detect evidence of heavy metal poisoning. Identify the prime suspect from six alleged perpetrators using the following forensic techniques: fingerprinting, hair analysis, tire track impression analysis, blood typing, forensic entomology, police log re-view. Lunch provided.
