For some, PE is a subject that they dread, they fear, and think they can't teach - some may not want to

teach PE! The task of having an unruly bunch of kids, outdoors and on the loose is all too much!

For others though the challenge of teaching a group of students in the range of tasks that make up PE is

something they strive hard to meet head on.

There is a difference between knowing what to teach (content) and knowing how to teach (pedagogy) however they cannot be separated, they are interwoven.

Teaching is complex, there is no single way of doing it and each of us must find our own way

A good teacher has a range of skills and techniques.

Knowing when and how to use them is the key.

In PE the same principles apply to teaching and learning as they do in other subjects.

We want our students to learn, we also want them to enjoy our class.

Our role as educators is teaching and getting others to understand the value of physical education.

Making a difference requires effective use of different tools.

Overall the goals of a good physical education program must be compatible with the overall goals of a good school.
