EAPFP

• EAPFP was formed in 1988 to act as a "European" voice on behalf of national associations representing manufacturers, contractors and other institutions involved in fire protection to steelwork, timber, and other passive fire protection applications, including penetration seals and ductwork.

• EAPFP has representation on CEN TC 127, the Technical Committee dealing with the harmonisation of standards for fire safety buildings. Close liaison is maintained with EGOLF the European Organisation for Fire Testing Laboratories.




EAPFP Membership

There are three categories of members: Corporate, Full and

Associate.

• Corporate members are European represented Associations.

• Full members are national organisations in Europe representing

manufacturing or contracting companies involved in specialist fire

protection.

• Associate members are manufacturers and contractors in countries where

no national association exists.




EAPFP Aims

• The protection of life, property, the environment and our heritage from the ravages of fire

• The continuous improvement of all aspects of passive fire protection

• The proactive representation of the views and interests of the passive fire protection industry within Europe

• The liaison between members and provision of a forum for discussion on technical matters which may affect the passive fire protection industry

• The promotion of effective fire protection and development of the European market in all aspects of passive fire protection in order to save life and property

• The representation of the national associations at European level

• To promote ethical behaviour




EAPFP Objectives

• European fire related Committees

• CEN TC127 including Extended Application Group and TC127

• Fire Sector Group of Notified Bodies

• EOTA and participate in drafting of ETAG's and their reviews

• European Group of Official Laboratories for Fire Testing (EGOLF) Industry Liaison

Group

• The Association will also undertake monitoring of all new developments, which

affect passive fire protection

• The Association will also encourage the sharing of information on best practice




EAPFP Organisation

Meetings of the Association are held on a regular basis at venues

throughout Europe to update members on technical issues and to develop

closer commercial contacts.

Los problemas del sector : la instalacion

La instalacion tiene un papel muy importante, tanto economico

como de seguridad

La instalacion es muchas veces mal ejecutada

Falta de Guias para la instalacion, inspeccion y mantenimiento

Falta de calificacion profesional para esta actividad

El nivel de calidad del producto no se refleja en la instalacion

Los problemas del sector : Normativa y Legislacion

Pocas normas armonizadas: barreras tecnologicas

Los mandatos de la Comision son excesivamente lentos

Legislacion a nivel europeo insuficiente para una libre circulacion

real de productos.

El Reglamento de productos de la construccion (RPC) es un

ejemplo. Cualquier estado miembro puede exigir una seguridad

superior (EN +DIN, o EN+ UNE,...)

Las oportunidades del sector : Normativa y Legislacion

Mayor presencia del sector industrial en la Comision y CEN para:

Agilizar los mandatos de la Comision en materia de Normas

Promover nuevos mandatos para tener mas normas armonizadas.

Intervenir en el origen y desarrollo de las normas, en los CT

espejo de CEN en cada pais miembro. Elaborando normas

precisas y minimizando interpretaciones.

Transmitir a nuestros representantes formales en la Comision, ya

sea como estado miembro o como grupo sectorial europeo,

nuestras preocupaciones legislativas.

Un objetivo basico:

Concienciar a la Sociedad de la Importancia de la Seguridad Contra

Incendios:

- Datos estadisticos fiables

- Un sector importante: Una facturacion en seguridad contra incendios

del orden de 30 billones de € y 100.000 familias detras.

En el escenario europeo esto solo se consigue alineandonos todos los

sectores con el objetivo de hacernos oir.

EAPFP (pasiva), EUROALARM (activa) y EUROSPRINKLERS en

discusion sobre la creacion de una Federacion Europea del sector

industrial del fuego.
