Senator Kit Bond

Visits Essex Cryogenics

September 24, Senator Kit Bond spoke at the St. Louis

World Trade Center event, where he was awarded the

Global Ambassador Award. This award recognizes out-

standing leaders who have a commitment to the develop-

ment of international trade. Senator Bond has a long

history of promoting free trade and opening international

markets for Missouri exports. Bond will receive the

award from the St. Louis World Trade Center, a division

of the St. Louis County Economic council.

Senator Bond then departed for an on-sight visit to the

Essex Cryogenics plant, which manufactures the life sup-

port equipment for troops in the field. Senator Bond an-

nounced that the funds were secured for the Essex’

Guardian Angel Integrated Oxygen System [GAIOS]

program, which provides life-saving oxygen at the

evacuation scene from combat casualties, directly in-

creasing survival rate of our injured troops.

Senator Bond, toured the Cryogenics plant, meeting with

team members and Essex management, and was briefed

on the development and production of the GAIOS.

Sen. Bond stated that work Cryo does is essential to sav-

ing more lives on the battlefield. “To put it simply your

work here is directly saving the lives of the war fighters

in our field…” This increases their survival rate from 3

in 10, to 8 in 10 chances. The Cryogenics employees

presented Sen. Bond with a plaque, for his service.

Making

Some

Noise?

The “buzz” at TRG has literally been, ‘Making Some

Noise,’ in regard to technological advances in the health-

care field. Along with MIJA (our gauge supplier), TRG is

branding a gauge with an integrated audio and visual alert

system that alerts the patient [user] when their oxygen cyl-

inder’s pressure is running low. While this technology is

constantly progressing , we foresee a wireless capability in

the near future allowing an alert signal to be transmitted to

any number of communication devices. This improves the

safety and well-being of the user, such as when they are

sleeping, or under the care of a provider, the alert can pre-

vent the oxygen supply from depleting and enable the user

to refill without the risk of ever running out of oxygen.

New

Face,

New

Name? Essex Manufacturing has received a new facelift at the 6

Sunnen building. A fresh coat of white paint and new curb-

side signage give a crisp new finish to the cinderblock hous-

ing. New steel fascia has replaced the original coverings, as

the process is almost complete. Once the building and trim

are finished, the lettering and logo can be replaced on the

face of the building. Some thought has been given to updat-

ing the division’s name to reflect more of an aeronautical

emphasis and aid in marketing our products. So don’t be

surprised if you drive by and the building...and the name

look different.

Ingredients:

3 lbs cooked Great Northern Beans

2 lbs boneless chicken breast [skin removed]

1 tblspn olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 med inions, chopped

2 tspns ground cumin

1/4 tspn ground cloves

1/4 tspn cayenne pepper

1 tspn ground oregano

4-ounce cans chopped mild/or/hot chilies

4 cups chicken stock or canned broth

20 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, grated

Sour cream for topping

Jalapeño Peppers, sliced for garnish

the same pan, discard water & heat oil over medium

heat. Add onions until translucent. Stir in garlic, chil-

ies, cumin, cayenne pepper, oregano, and cloves.

oz cheese; let simmer for 15 minutes.

Ladle into large bowls & top with 1 oz cheese. Serve
