Those of us who have seen allthe three Pratyush Events willagree that a major share of creditfor their resounding successgoes to our ever vibrantparticipants. One needs toappreciate the fact that most ofthe participants, be it students,professionals, housewives, etchad their daily chores to fulfillduring the day before meeting inthe evening for the practicesessions which at times musthave been quite tiring. Peoplewho have witnessed the practicesessions will know the level offinesse and perfection demandedby Vishwas sir, ourchoreographer, and the creditgoes to the participants, youngand old, that they rose evenly tohis expectations. We also needto appreciate the enthusiasm ofthose participants who not onlytook part in the dances but alsoswitched quickly into importantroles in the plays, which meantthat they had to literally camp onthe stage from beginning to end!!!

Pratyush it was a real hit showagain, it gave mee a platform toshow my talent in the fields ofdance and acting. The making ofModern Ramayan was fantastic,every time I remember thosemoments I smile. The goof upsthat we all made were enjoyable.Both the roles were verychallenging to play. How can weforget our favourite Rajas Ajinka(Sweet Raavan) & PrathameshTalpade (funny Zatayu). After ourone and half month of rehearsalswe all achieved our goal. Themaking of Kalchakra was one ofmy best moments. Everybody inthis play enjoyed a lot. My Haagaho haaga ho and Aeuoo languagewas very challenging for me,thanks to Siddharth, Saurab,Mayura, Bhakti tai, Ashwin dada,Reema vahini, Akshay, AshishDesai, Dishank, Nihar, Rajaskaka for supporting me to playthis kind of role. It’s a platform for all thePathare Prabhus , old & youngto show their talents in the fieldof drama and dance. The goldenday dawned on 11th June 2011when Pratyush 2011 was held atRang Sharda, Bandra (E) at19.30 hrs, after more than amonth long practice, sometimeslate at night. The drama followedby smart dances proved quiteentertaining.

This years innovative idea ofcommencing the events by theentry of some artists through theaudiences dispersing petals &flowers holding incense cupsstartled the audience who turnedback to see what was falling onthem & got pacified on seeingthe artists in the act.

The way our choreographerMr Vishwas Natekar & hissupportive assistants Mr Aniket& Ms Shraddha helped somenon dancers dance is worthappreciation. Due to Pratyush,we all came to know each othervery well, made new friends inour own community which wouldnot have been possibleotherwise. The flow of eventsfrom drama to dance wasamazing.

There is a time in life when youfeel that all those unfulfilleddreams have come true and thoseunexplored experiences have justbeen met. That one line can betermed as the recall that I havewhenever I think about ‘Pratyush’.

Being a media professional itbecomes very difficult to rate theprojects that you have donebecause each of it has the sameamount of efforts and planning thatyou are required to put in. Butwithout a doubt I would termPratyush as one of the experiencesthat stands out in the list of work thathave done in the past and probably itwould stay as that specialexperience in the future as well.

Prior to the opportunity thatwas given to me, of directing theplay for this year’s Pratyush, I hadlimited and vague knowledgeabout the community and thecommendable job that themembers of Pratyush are doing tokeep the PP culture alive. Theperson whom I thank for thisopportunity is Mahesh mama(Mahesh Kothare). I had theprivilege to work with him as adialogue writer for his sci-fic,Zabardast. He always made mefeel like an equal on the set. That isthe hallmark of all creativelyevolved people; they never talk youdown but make you feel like you area partner in their vision. It wasMahesh mama’s son, Adinath whorecommended me to theorganizing committee of Pratyush.

The beginning to thesuccessful product began atBarista in Shivaji Park where I metGunjarav, Moya and Deepak. I was

struck by the positivity andoptimism that these guys have withinthem. Gunjarav wanted a thriller whichwould grip the audience, we werethrowing many ideas around when Iremembered a spoof that I had writtensome time ago..and I suggested it…,Gunjarav was enthusiastic aboutit…he said..done done..lets do it.. evenMoya and Deepak gave a thumbs upon the idea. It took a while for this feelingto sink within me, because I couldimagine the kind of faith and confidencethe three of them gave me.

Then the rehearsalscommenced. They say for anydrama, it is the team that matters.And I was glad to be blessed withteam which had people, who werealthough not professional actorsbut thoroughly professional inwhatever was assigned to them. Iwas mighty impressed during therehearsals observing thededication and determination of theparticipants. It was amazing to seepeople, who are professionals intheir respective fields, come aftertheir office hours especially for theplay practice sacrificing theirregular routine. The main virtue ofall participants was listening to thedirector and keeping theirprofessional status at bay, this issomething that defines the term‘being disciplined and grounded’.

Whenever you direct people youare in a position of power andsometimes a strict attitude can putoff your actors as they are verysensitive human beings. But luckilyfor me, my mom has given me aguru mantra earlier on in my career.She told me that “people who wanttoo much perfection throw a lot ofpoison. They resemble the kalki

snake… Hissing at everyone andpissing off everyone… So youhave to couple perfection withlove…Be like Krishna who danceson the hood of the poisonoussnake kalki…Let love dominateover perfection”. This advice hasalways helped me and till date allmy actors share a beautifulrelationship with me, some havebecome a part of my family.

The rehearsals were going onsmoothly but there was a twist inthe tale. I had to fly to Jakarta todirect a spiritual play for myclients, this meant a gap of 12days. But my favorite assistantPavan made sure things werenormal in my absence, heconducted the rehearsals andthings went on without a hitchand when I came back my actorsand the organizing committeetold me how much they hadmissed me. But I had missed myactors more because I can easilysay this (and I am not saying thisbecause this is my community)that in our community actors arefar better than other actorsacross the globe, they are moresincere dedicated and most

importantly cultured.The day of the play is etched in

my memory for two prominentreasons, one for the heavy rainsthat lashed the city and created abig worry amongst us regarding theattendance of the audience andtwo, for the incredible turnout thatwe eventually got when the showwas to commence. I was happy tosee the theater full of people fromour community making it to theplay despite of the water-loggedroads and the dark clouds whichhad not stopped pouring. And justlike the hit turn out, even the showwas a great hit. The act reflectedthat it was the team effort that hadmade it a hit. Had it not been thatfunny idea of creating a spoof onRamayan popping in my mind, hadit not been Gunjarav, Moya andDeepak showing their instant faithin me, had it not been Bhakti whoskillfully scripted that second halfwhich got the community peoplesuper-entertained and had it notbeen for Vishwas and his dancerswho added that graceful andelegant flavor to the show thatPratyush 2011 would have been a

Ramayan: Direction, Acting &mainly casting was too good. Youchose a topic which was verysensitive but when it came alive itturned out to be sensational. Therewere few flaws which have to beoverlooked as there were manymeasurable good things. I thinkSanjeev has given his bestcontribution in making this playrock. I would like to add 2 linersabout few Ramayan performersbelow.

Rajas, next entire year you willbe remembered as Ravan amongall PPs. Your acting was superband for sometime people musthave felt that Ravan was not adangerous Rakshas, rather was agreat humorous person. I don’tknow if you have any previousstage experience but you were thecoolest on the stage.

Siddarth, need not mention yourperformance as I have seen youlast year and even this time youshowed good energy in buildingsynergy with other co-stars. Youwere excellent in deliveringdialogues and expressing timelyreactions.

Sanjana, I think you have keptyour acting shut-ted down for a longtime. You have such good talentwhich you should let flow freely.People love watching you, so donot stop and keep it flowing.

I would love to write on all thecharacters featured in this play buthave to restrict only to the aboveprime characters. Laxman,Hanuman and other new faceswere seen on stage and have donea good job despite being firsttimers. I am sure people will wish tosee you again next year.Lagna 2050: I feel this topic was abrilliant imagination. Imaginingloosing Pathare Prabhu traditionand culture 40 years ahead iscertainly a serious subject. I thinkthe way we are heading to 2050there is high possibility that wemay lose our culture. I think peopleshould think seriously about thisand try to make the next generationunderstand the importance of ourtradition & culture. I am sure we willnot see any Pathare Prabhu familyliving in the style shown in thedrama in the year 2050.

Pratyush 2011: Another Rocking Event with GreatPerformance & Hard Efforts of All Participants & Yuva

performances of Siddarth, Saurabh& Mayura. They were very naturaland appropriate in their dialoguedelivery and acting.

There were few dialoguesmainly targeting a specific personwhich should have been avoided.This short play had some extendedscenes which should have beenavoided.Fashion Show (Benz): Thanks toBenz for supporting this event. Wegot to see good trendy westerndesigner wear. Your Model teamexhibited Graceful Ramp Walk. Ithink many Sokajee’s gotopportunity to witness GlamorousLive Cat Walk for the first time.Dances: I appreciate Natekar Sir, Ithink our team has found a Gem.Sir thanks again in supporting ouryoung team on performing mindblowing dances. All our YUVAdancers have rocked again. I haveno words to express about thedances & choreography. Lookingforward to see you next year to setthe stage on fire with some moregreat dance performances. SoNAACHTEY RAHO! & SIR AAPNACHAATEY RAHO!

Summing up, the entire eventwas exciting with dance & actperformances but flow of the showwas missing in comparison to lastyear's show which was wellconnected from start to end. Thisyear there were some leakages onthat linkage.

This year it was like surfing TVchannels rather than getting stuckto chair with excitement to watchnext part of the show.

Overall the show wasEntertaining, Rocking & this timeGlamorous.

Thejourney was worth it and even if it isover, the relations that I developedon the way are here to stay forever.
