Collect of the Day The Celebrant says to the people The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Celebrant Let us pray. O God, who has made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that we, following the example of your servant Philip, may bring your Word to those who seek you, for the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Lessons Reader A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles [8:26-40] Then an angel of the Lord said to Philip, ‘Get up and go towards the south to the road that goes down from Je-rusalem to Gaza.’ (This is a wilderness road.) So he got up and went. Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to Jerusa-lem to worship and was returning home; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go over to this chariot and join it.’ So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ He replied, ‘How can I, unless someone guides me?’ And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. Now the passage of the scripture that he was reading was this: Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth. In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.’ The eunuch asked Philip, ‘About whom, may I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?’ Then Philip began to speak, and starting with this scripture, he pro-claimed to him the good news about Jesus. As they were going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, ‘Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized?’ He commanded the chariot to stop, and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caesarea. The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. Psalm 67 Deus misereatur 1 May God be merciful to us and bless us, * show us the light of his countenance and come to us. 2 Let your ways be known upon earth, * your saving health among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; * let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, * for you judge the peoples with equity and guide all the nations upon earth. 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; * let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has brought forth her increase; * may God, our own God, give us his blessing. 7 May God give us his blessing, * and may all the ends of the earth stand in awe of him.

The Sermon The Right Reverend David Reed, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas

The Renewal of Baptismal Vows Celebrant Do you reaffirm your renunciation of evil and renew your commitment to Jesus Christ? People I do. Celebrant Do you believe in God the Father? People I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Celebrant Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? People I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy

Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Celebrant Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? People I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of

sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Celebrant Will you continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the

prayers? People I will, with God’s help. Celebrant Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the

Lord? People I will, with God’s help. Celebrant Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ? People I will, with God’s help. Celebrant Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself? People I will, with God’s help. Celebrant Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human

being? People I will, with God’s help. The Celebrant concludes the Renewal of Vows as follows May Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and bestowed upon us the forgiveness of sins, keep us in eternal life by his grace, in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

The Prayers of the People: Form III The Leader and People pray responsively

The People may add their own petitions. Silence The Bishop says We bid your prayers at this time for companions in our diocese who have died since the gathering of our Con-vention last year. We commend to your mercy, O Lord, all who have died that your will for them may be ful-filled, and we pray that we may share with all your saints in your eternal kingdom. We especially remember before you…(the Archdeacon reads the names of the departed.)

Father, we pray for your holy Catholic Church; That we all may be one.

Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve you;

That your Name may be glorified by all people.

We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons;

That they may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments.

We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world;

That there may be justice and peace on the earth.

Give us grace to do your will in all that we under-take;

That our works may find favor in your sight. Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble;

That they may be delivered from their distress. Give to the departed eternal rest;

Let light perpetual shine upon them. We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy;

May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom.

Let us pray for our own needs and those of others.

The Celebrant says Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayers, and know our-selves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

The Peace The Celebrant then says to the people The peace of the Lord be always with you. People And also with you. The Clergy and People greet one another in the name of the Lord. Announcements The liturgy continues with an offertory sentence.

The Holy Communion The offering of alms will go to Episcopal Relief and Development

I Call to Thee, Lord Jesus Christ, BWV 639, J. S. Bach Musical presentation by Dr. Jane Ann Wilson, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Lubbock

At the Presentation of Alms The people stand for The Doxology stanza: Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; / praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host: / praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer B The people remain standing. The Celebrant faces them and says The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Celebrant Lift up your hearts. People We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give our thanks and praise. Then, facing the Holy Table, the Celebrant proceeds It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, because in Jesus Christ our Lord you have received us as your sons and daughters, made us citizens of your kingdom, and given us the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

The people stand or kneel. Then the Celebrant continues We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Sav-ior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it or lay a hand upon it; and at the words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be conse-crated. On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.” Therefore, according to his command, O Father, Celebrant and People We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory;

The Celebrant continues And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your crea-tion, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be ac-ceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with [ ___________ and] all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Fa-ther, now and for ever. AMEN. Give us this day our daily bread. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada dia. And forgive us our trespasses, Perdona nuestras ofensas, as we forgive those como también nosotros perdonamos who trespass against us. a los que nos ofenden. And lead us not into temptation, No nos dejes caer en tentación, but deliver us from evil. y líbranos del mal. For thine is the kingdom, Porque tuyo es el reino, and the power, and the glory, tuyo es el poder, y tuya es la gloria, for ever and ever. Amen. ahora y por siempre. Amén.

Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia. Facing the people, the Celebrant says the following Invitation The Gifts of God for the People of God. The ministers receive the Sacrament in both kinds, and then immediately deliver it to the people.
