Minimum of two 200 level and one 300 level papers in maths and/or statistics.A balance of papers should be demonstrated between;1. Bio-physical sciences – anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor learning/skill acquisition.2. Socio-cultural studies – philosophy, sociology of sport and physical activity, cultural studies.3. Physical Education - two or more of: Outdoor Education, Health Education, Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy, Sport and Coaching Pedagogy.* At least one discipline or subject should be taken to 300 level, with a balance of others at 200 level.
Unrestricted entry. An interest in education outside the classroom is required. Requires participation in a camp-based learning experience. An extra cost is involved with this.
Unrestricted entry; but previous education in sociological, psychology or health sciences is useful. A genuine interest in adolescent health and well-being is essential. Strong communication skills are also desirable because of the nature of health education pedagogy.
100 level papers passed in more than one science area - eg biology and chemistry or physics and geology. Two or more papers passed at 300 level in the particular subject. Waivers to these entry requirements or combinations such as nursing, horticulture etc could be considered at the discretion of the Programme Leader in conjunction with the Head of School.
300 level in a suitable subject e.g. History, Geography, Sociology, Political Studies, Anthropology (provided there are some Social Anthropology papers), Law. If the degree includes another major subject e.g. 300 level English, then 200 level in one of these areas would be sufficient.
At least two papers at 100 level and two at 200 level in Geography, environmental studies, planning, earth science or associated subjects. If wishing to teach beyond level 1 Geo, will need to have at least one 300 level paper.At least two papers at 200 level and two at 300 level in Geography, environmental studies, planning, earth science or associated subjects. Students are strongly encouraged to retain a balance of human and physical geography to at least 200 level.
300 level History (B Grade minimum) or 300 level Political Studies and 200 level History (B Grade minimum) or 300 level Ancient History and 200 level History (B Grade minimum) or 300 level Geography and 200 level History (B Grade minimum).
At least two 300 level economics papers plus two 200 level economics papers preferably 200 level micro economics and macro economics.

Students entering these courses will need to have a degree or equivalent and working experience in a relevant field of study that ranges from Food, Hospitality, Nutrition, IT, digital design, Architecture, spatial design, product design, construction, engineering, electronics trades, fashion/textiles, jewellery, sound, stage/set design if you are contemplating working in areas of teaching with specialist work room/workshop environments and equipment it is important that you have had some ‘hands on’ experience either through career or interests to bring to teaching.

Education for Visual Communication
The course offers secondary practical art, technology and Graphics (D & VC) specialists, as well as teachers in other areas, the opportunity to develop broad strategies and understandings as well as specific skills in using visual communication effectively to extend and maximise student’s learning. The focus is predominately on 2D applications.
Students will need to have a background degree or substantial industry experience in the Visual Arts including aspects as Design, Multi Media production, Architecture, Product Design, Art, Graphic Design, Stage Set Design or any other relevant field of study. The course provides an opportunity for students to engage in design-based activities that encourage the development of a visual literacy that extends across a broad range of genres.At least two 100 level papers in music or music technology.

300 level papers in drama or theatre studies or experience in performing, directing, or stage craft plus an academic qualification.
A degree with a major in dance or with a significant minor in dance or with in-depth knowledge and advanced practical ability in at least one dance genre.
Acceptable: University Art History papers (minimum 200 level, preferably 200 – 300 level and beyond) papers in Contextual Studies (from MIT, AUT)
At least two 100 level university papers in English. Students with higher level papers in Media, Film, Drama may also be considered.At least two 300 level papers in English, with most content aligned to subject English in the New Zealand Curriculum.300 level Media Studies [Film studies, Media studies, or related subjects etc] papers. 300 level in Classical Studies or Ancient History, or 200 level in Classical Studies with History at 200 or 300 level. Applicant must be a speaker of Te Reo Maori and able to engage in an interview conducted fully in Te Reo Maori. Level 7 degree with 300 level Te Reo Language papers

Unrestricted entry. However, a genuine interest in environmental education and its pedagogy is required. Would be suitable complement to a science or social studies/geography programme, although not exclusive.
