Sustainable Competitive Advantage
Speed, Agility and Innovation
Demandware empowers retailers with the
speed, agility and innovation required to
accelerate the strategic business initiatives
that drive growth. It provides an open and
scalable enterprise cloud commerce platform
that puts business users in control and enables
impactful consumer engagement across
devices, channels and geographies. Backed
by a world-class cloud operating environment
that is scalable, reliable and secure, and a
business model that puts client success above
all other priorities, Demandware reduces the
cost and complexity of running global,
omni-channel commerce operations.
Eliminating Barriers to Growth
Retail growth strategies come in many different
forms. Whether it’s about providing customers
with a more unified online and offline experi-
ence, expanding into new geographies and
markets, or launching new brands and sites,
Demandware provides a more agile and
innovative solution for enterprise retail, without
compromising quality, control and scale. It’s
the reason why more and more retailers are
moving away from rigid on-premise platforms
and switching to Demandware’s industry-
leading cloud platform.
WHY CHANGE?
In today’s ever-evolving retail landscape, sustainable competitive advantage and consistent revenue growth don’t come from managing IT infrastructure or developing software. They come from executing on the strategic initiatives that help build brand loyalty and drive business expansion.

A Better Commerce Experience – for Retailers and Consumers
Faster Time to Value Demandware creates a more expedient path be-
tween ideas and their execution. First, business users
never have to worry about whether the infrastructure
is ready to support their initiatives. They can launch
new sites in days, not months, and execute promo-
tions in hours, not days. Role-based, intuitive user
interfaces enable control over the brand experience
and site functionality, with minimal IT involvement,
and the platform automatically scales and supports
whatever they have planned. All of this frees the
IT department to concentrate on driving strategic
initiatives and innovation instead of supporting infra-
structure and implementing upgrades. Business users
are empowered to execute on their ideas more
quickly and are freed to put more ideas into action.
Continuous and Seamless Innovation Demandware eliminates the barriers to innovation
that are common with legacy commerce platforms
and empowers organizations to keep pace with the
dynamic retail marketplace and evolving consumer
expectations. The platform is automatically upgrad-
ed up to eight times per year, delivering a steady
stream of new features and enhancements without
disrupting day-to-day retail operations. The open ar-
chitecture enables retailers to build their own unique
capabilities without compromising the platform
upgrade path. Pre-built integrations make it easy to
connect to third-party technologies and are highly
resistant to breakage when upgrades occur.
Highly Leverage-able CommunityWorking with Demandware, retailers become part of
a large, vibrant and interconnected community that
is a source of fresh ideas, insights and inspiration.
Because the platform is built on a multi-tenant
cloud architecture, all Demandware clients run on a
common code base, making it easy to share ideas
and innovation across the community. Clients can
tap into the skills, knowledge and experience of
this collaborative community, creating a powerful
network effect to drive their own innovation. Clients
also benefit from the valuable intelligence that can
be harnessed from the platform. The incredibly rich
behavioral data set can be used – in aggregate and
with proper permissions – as a benchmarking tool to
drive continuous improvement.
Business Model Aligned to Client SuccessDemandware’s business model is based on shared
success, which means the company is fully vested in
helping its clients grow and ensuring they succeed.
Everything Demandware does as an organization,
including the prioritization of investments, is designed
to help clients differentiate their brand and grow
revenue across channels. A team of retail experts
is dedicated to providing consultative advice and
support to clients. An operations team is constantly
monitoring performance, examining issues across
the client base, assessing for holiday readiness, and
making other meaningful contributions to help
ensure ongoing client success.
WHY DEMANDWARE?

Whether your customer is on the couch, at the checkout line or in a new market, Demandware provides a superior business and technology model to seamlessly power commerce across the retail enterprise.

The Demandware Commerce Cloud An Open, Future-Proof Platform for Omni-Channel Commerce
Digital CommerceEasy-to-use applications empower business users
to control and manage the shopping experience
including branding, merchandising and promotions,
with minimal IT involvement. An open development
environment enables technical users to develop highly
customized brand experiences. From content man-
agement, to integrated responsive design to
geo-location-driven experience management, the
platform supports best practices in digital commerce
and enables retailers to continually evolve the
shopping experience to meet and exceed customer
expectations.
Point-of-Sale and Digital Store The platform provides several options for bringing the
power of the cloud into the store. Enterprise point-of-
sale (POS) solutions range from mobile device-based
to traditional register and till formats. For retailers that
prefer to keep their existing POS infrastructure in place,
a tablet-based, endless-aisle digital store solution
provides store associates with access to customer
records and web inventory, enabling them to reduce
lost sales due to stock-outs and walk-outs, and to
better serve customers.
Data-Driven Personalization and Analytics The platform combines data sources to create a
distinct data footprint for each consumer. It applies
leading-edge data science to personalize the
products, promotions and content presented to
each individual shopper. It also collects, aggregates
and anonymizes data from across all consumer inter-
actions, providing Demandware clients with the ability
to benchmark performance against their peers and
optimize their business results.
Distributed Order Management Distributed order management capabilities enable
retailers to provide “buy anywhere, fulfill anywhere,
service anywhere” experiences. The platform helps to
alleviate out-of-stock issues with a single, enterprise-wide
view of inventory, including real-time inventory counts
that track products on order or in transit. It can also
help reduce customer service costs by enabling
self-service functions, such as order tracking,
cancellations or managing returns.
DEMANDWARE PLATFORM
The Demandware Commerce Cloud is a highly scalable platform that minimizes the complexities and costs of running extensive global commerce operations and enables seamless, high-impact consumer engagement across all devices, channels and geographies. Built on a scalable and secure multi-tenant cloud architecture, the platform provides enterprise capabilities with the agility of the cloud.

they work with the products, promotions and trans-
actions in the platform, and will result in a consistent
experience across every customer interaction.
We realized that there was an opportunity to achieve better operational efficien-
cies across our brand portfolio, but it was critical that we not lose brand-level
control. With Demandware, we do not have to compromise. We have a scalable,
enterprise-class platform that allows our team to centrally manage our commerce
operations, while enabling customized experiences at both the brand and regional
level. And with Demandware’s cloud model, we know that we’ll always have

It takes more than technology to thrive in the new retail landscape. Retailers need a healthy network of peers, partners and users from whom they can derive best practices, insights, innovation and support. Demandware clients, partners and employees are always working from the same version of the platform so clients can leverage the vast skills, knowledge and experience of this highly collaborative community, and capitalize on the platform’s capabilities at an accelerated pace.
The cloud model means we don’t have to worry about updates or upgrades, and there are no hardware costs to take into account. This is particularly important as we expand into additional countries and need to focus on quickly localizing and innovating to meet local consumer expectations rather than managing infrastructure.
