MYALL U3A COMMITTEE 2020
LEARNING FOR PLEASURE
MYALL U3A
As I step aside from the Myall U3A Management Committee and the past two years as President I wish to thank the many willing volunteers who ensure that this remarkable organisation continues to grow, providing mental and physical stimulus for our members. Each member of Myall U3A is highly valued. Each contributes in various ways. It is a healthy sign that once again we have members who for the first time are joining the Management Committee and I am confident that we will continue into the future.
Previous President’s Report
New President’s Message
Barbara Lyle.
Norman Hawkes
Thank you for accepting me into the position of President for this year 2020
and thanks to those who assisted with my orientation into this role, I shall
continue to rely for some time on that assistance. In my acceptance speech at
the AGM, I emphasised four things.
First: For me the time to make a contribution has come and I will do it to the best of my ability. I have received the benefits of membership freely for several years and it is time to give back. Second: Many of our members lost the opportunities to gain academic recognition or satisfaction in fields such as art, music, writing and language after leaving school, when ”life got in the way”. U3A offers the opportunity to enable these talented people to pick up those skills in their retirement, keeping their minds active and healthy. Third: The activities of members, especially those who make presentations, teach skills and organise events make a very important contribution to the wider community, a stand-out example being the Christmas concert held in the Memorial Hall. Thank you all for keeping the U3A profile clearly in the public eye. Fourth and finally: May all our aspirations and interactions be conducted in a safe social environment where courtesy and respect for each other is the hallmark of reasonable behaviour I intend to visit our special interest groups over the next few weeks, to review the range and scope of our incredibly comprehensive program for 2020. Presenters, instructors and facilitators are the front line in providing our members with the joys of learning in the third age of life. May all our endeavours flourish. Thank you.
