The pea$ power in ;PS= modulation scheme is higher than that in GMS= modulation scheme when thea&erage powers are the same! ompared with the ma+imum output power of the T9: in GMS=modulation scheme" the ma+imum output power of the T9: in ;PS= modulation scheme is decreasedto a fi+ed e+tent! Thus" the ma+imum output power of the DT9: or multi2carrier T9: with high2rate PSser&ices is lower than that of the DT9: or multi2carrier T9: with S ser&ices! %s a result" the a&eragepower in ;PS= modulation scheme is lower than that in GMS= modulation scheme! The MS recei&egain is related to the a&erage transmit power of the BTS! Therefore" the PS ser&ices in ;PS=modulation scheme cannot be pro&ided on the edge of a cell" and thus the networ$ performance doesnot reach the optimum le&el!

)n the e+isting networ$" the BS controls multiple BTSs and manages BTS radio resources" and theBTS handles ser&ices! )n the case of PS ser&ices" the BTS determines whether to use GMS= or ;PS=modulation scheme according to the ser&ice type of the BS! )n ;PS= modulation scheme" thema+imum transmit power of a T9: is impro&ed through enhanced -DG- co&erage so that thema+imum output power of high2rate PS ser&ices is the same as that of S ser&ices! )n this way" thea&erage output power of high2rate PS ser&ices in ;PS= modulation scheme is the same as that of Sser&ices!

9egarding DT9: and multi2carrier T9:" enhanced -DG- co&erage helps impro&e the ma+imum outputpower of high2rate PS ser&ices through different mechanisms!

The ma+imum output power in ;PS= modulation scheme must not e+ceed that in GMS= modulationscheme to a&oid impacts on networ$ planning!

-nhanced -DG- co&erage helps impro&e networ$ performance in the following ways<

)ncreasing the networ$ co&erage so that the co&erage area of high2rate PS ser&ices is almost the

same as that of S ser&ices!

)ncreasing the transmit power! The ?) of calls is impro&ed! )n this way" a higher2order modulationscheme can be used to increase the uplin$ and downlin$ data rate!

-nhanced -DG- co&erage is supported by the following BTSs and T9:s<

Double2transcei&er series base stations

DT9's and DT9Ms of BTS4./1" BTS4./1))" BTS4./1%-" BTS4..3" and BTS4..1-

)f H&GH1D$/E% is set to !LLED" enhanced -DG- co&erage is enabled! )n this case" thema+imum output power of the T9: is increased by the &alue specified by 3$G/!DELE45$'6! )f theBH T9: is to be enabled with enhanced -DG- co&erage" 1!&%7CCHH&GH1D$/E% should beset to !LLED! )n this manner" the ma+imum output power of the BH T9: is increased by the&alue specified by 3$G/!DELE45$'6!

For the DT9:" if one of the two carriers that belong to the same cell and DT9: is idle at a transmitmoment" then PS ser&ices are transmitted by the two carriers at the same time! That is" dynamictransmit di&ersity or dynamic PBT is used to transmit PS ser&ices! )n this case" the ma+imum outputpower of high2rate PS ser&ices can reach to a le&el as that of S ser&ices when the DT9: is inseparated or combined transmit mode!

(.2 !pplication 'cenarios

-nhanced -DG- co&erage can be enabled only when the output power of a T9: reaches thema+imum &alue!

Ahether each timeslot on T9: % can be enabled with enhanced -DG- co&erage depends on thetransmission state of the same timeslot on T9: B that is on the same DT9: as T9: %! )f thetransmission state is disabled" then the timeslots on T9: % can be enabled with enhanced -DG-co&erage! )f one of the power amplifiers on T9: % and T9: B is power off" then enhanced -DG-co&erage cannot be started!

-nhanced -DG- co&erage can be enabled only when both the power amplifiers on the two T9:s of aDT9: are power on and the two T9:s belong to the same cell!

For Huawei 4>.. series base stations" the implementation modes of enhanced -DG- co&erage of aDT9: &ary according to the transmit and recei&e mode" as listed in Table 42/! The DT9: of 4>.. seriesbase stations is categoried into D99' and D9F'! D99' and D9F' differ in the following ways<

 % D99' is used in distributed base stations! The transmit and recei&e mode of a D99' is specified

by 'nd/cv1ode!

 % D9F' is used in outdoor and indoor macro base stations! The transmit and recei&e mode of aD9F' is specified by 'nd/cv1ode.

For a multi2carrier T9:" output power is shared among multiple T9:s so that the transmit power of T9:in ;PS= modulation scheme is increased! The power amplifier of a multi2carrier T9: does not transmitsignals at full power in most cases due to power control or due to no traffic in some timeslots! )n thiscase" power margin e+ists! )f the power margin is used by other ;PS= traffic channels on the sametimeslot" the ma+imum output power of the multi2carrier T9: in ;PS= modulation scheme may reachthat of the multi2carrier T9: in GMS= modulation scheme!

9.2 !pplication 'cenarios

-nhanced -DG- co&erage can be enabled only when the output power of a T9: reaches thema+imum &alue!

-nhanced -DG- co&erage can be enabled if the capability of the power amplifiers on the multi2carrierT9: is greater than the total output power re8uired by the multi2carrier T9:!

 %fter enhanced -DG- co&erage is enabled" the total output power of the multi2carrier T9: must besmaller than the capability of the power amplifiers on the multi2carrier T9:!

Ahen a cell is in S/ configuration mode" one T9: wor$s and another T9: is idle" as shown in Figure 321! The power amplifier of the idle T9: is power off out of power sa&ing! Therefore" enhanced -DG-co&erage cannot be enabled in this scenario!

Ahen a cell is in S1 or lower configuration mode" one of the T9:s of each DT9: ser&es a cell" asshown in Figure 324! The two T9:s of the same DT9: belong to different cells" and thus dynamic PBTor dynamic transmit di&ersity cannot be enabled! Therefore" enhanced -DG- co&erage cannot beenabled in this scenario!
