    3B: Oliver Cromwell(1599-1658)English political and military leaderwho overthrew the English monarchyand temporarily turned England into arepublican Commonwealth. Later heclaimed the title Lord Protector ofEngland, Scotland and Ireland.

    called The Virgin Queen, Elizabethwas the fifth and last monarch of theTudor dynasty. Elizabeth's reign isknown as the Elizabethan era.
