Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Slide 2 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 2 Ink System The XL1200 Ink System consists of the following elements: 6 8 Main Ink Tank Assy 16 4X2.5mm Tubes 8 Secondary Ink Tanks Assy The Ink System is supported and controlled by: Sensor Control Board CCB2 Boards RIP to CCB Board Pumps Board Slide 3 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 3 Main Ink Tank Assy The Main Ink Tank Assy consists of the following elements: 1.Ink Container, which includes the main level sensor and two exits with 6x4 pipe fittings. 2.Ink Filter. 2 1 Level Sensor Slide 4 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 4 Main Ink Tank Assy (Cont.) 3.Ink Pump, which is comprised of: 24 V DC Electrical Motor Magnetic Coupling Closed Pump 4.Two Electric Solenoid Valves All parts of the Main Ink Tank Assy are installed and connected together in the Ink Cabinet (next slide). Slide 5 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 5 Operation of the Ink System Slide 6 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 6 Ink Circulation Bypass Slide 7 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 7 Operation of the Ink System (Cont.) Slide 8 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 8 Operation of the Ink System (Cont.) Slide 9 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 9 Secondary Ink Tank (Ink Bath) The Secondary Ink Tank is divided into two partitions, each equipped with: 1.Level Sensor 2.Fitting for a 6X4mm pipe that supplies the ink from the secondary tank to the Manual Ink Valve. 2 1 Slide 10 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 10 Secondary Ink Tank (Ink Bath) (Cont.) 3.Fitting for a 4X2.5mm pipe that supplies the ink from the main tank to the secondary tank. 4.Fitting for the Air Pressure pipe Purge. 4 3 Slide 11 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 11 Secondary Ink Tank (Ink Bath) (Cont.) The Manual Ink Valve is located in front of each Secondary. This valve is a 3 way valve: 1.One ink intake from each side of the secondary tank 2.One ink outlet to the print heads 3.Closed valve The valve position determines from which partition in the secondary tank ink is supplied to the Print Heads. Ink Valve Slide 12 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 12 Operation of the Ink System (Cont.) 1.When the machine is turned ON, the pumps are automatically turned ON as well. Inside an Ink Tank there is no pressure above the atmospheric pressure, therefore, there is no need for disconnecting the pump in order to fill ink. 2.The Ink flows from the tank through the Pump to the Ink Filter 3.From the Ink Filter, the ink flows to Solenoid Valve 1. Solenoid Valve 1 is a 3 way valve: 1 intake and 2 exits. The Ink can either be directed to the Ink Pipes towards the Head-Carriage, or to Solenoid Valve 2. Slide 13 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 13 Operation of the Ink System (Cont.) 4.Solenoid Valve 2 is also a 3-way valve with 1 intake and 2 exits. The ink can once again be directed to the Ink Pipes - to flow to the Head-Carriage, or directed back to the main ink tank By default, the ink circulates among the Main Tank, Ink Pump, Ink Filter and the Solenoids. 5. When Ink level in the Secondary Tank decreases to a certain low level, the Level Sensor circuit will close - turning ON the Orange LED on the CCB2 Board, and opening the Solenoid Valve to supply ink to the Secondary Tank. The Green LED on the CCB2 Board signals this action. Slide 14 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 14 Operation of the Ink System (Cont.) Slide 15 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 15 Ink Route by Color CYAN - One Ink Pipe from each Solenoid Valve on the Main Cyan Ink Cabinet plugs into the left partition of each secondary Tank on the lowest level in the Head Carriage. MAGENTA - One Ink Pipe from each Solenoid Valve on the Main Magenta Ink Cabinet plugs into the left partition of each secondary Tank on the second level from the bottom in the Head Carriage. CYAN Light - One Ink Pipe from the Solenoid Valve on the Main Cyan Light Ink Cabinet plugs into the Right partition of the right secondary Tank on the lowest level in the Head Carriage. MAGENTA Light - One Ink Pipe from the Solenoid Valve on the Main Magenta Light Ink Cabinet plugs into the Right partition of the right secondary Tank on the second level from the bottom in the Head Carriage. YELLOW - One Ink Pipe from each Solenoid Valve on the Main Yellow Ink Cabinet plugs into the left partition of each secondary Tank on the third level from the bottom in the Head Carriage. BLACK - One Ink Pipe from each Solenoid Valve on the Main Black Ink Cabinet plugs into the left partition of each secondary Tank on the top level in the Head Carriage. The level sensor is a differential pressure sensor Level Sensor Slide 20 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 20 UG Main Ink Tank Assy (Cont.) 2.Ink Filter 10 Micron To replace the filter open here Slide 21 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 21 UG Main Ink Tank Assy (Cont.) 3.Two Electro Magnetic Pump, which works on 24 V AC. The Electro Magnetic Pump works both as a valve and a pump. Slide 22 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 22 Operation of the New Ink System Slide 23 Engineer Training XL1200 Ink System Confidential 23 Operation of the New Ink System (Cont.) 1.The Ink System Based on On-demand Ink. 2.The Ink flows from the tank through the Pump to the Ink Filter. 3.From the Ink Filter the ink splits toward Pump 1 and Pump 2. The pump functions as a one way Valve, one intake and one exit. 4.When Ink level in the Secondary Tank decreases to a certain low level, the Level Sensor circuit closes - turning ON the Yellow LED on the CCB2 Board and the yellow LED on the pump board; it then operates the relevant pump to supply ink to the Secondary Tank.
