What is the Lab Card® Program?
Lab Card is an additional benefit offered to you by your
employer, Drury University.
Lab Card does not replace your existing benefits, it
provides you with an option to receive laboratory testing at
no cost to you - 100% coverage.
Lab Card is a patient-driven program - you decide where
your doctor sends your specimens and your employer pays
100% of the charges IF your specimens go to LabOne.
What does the Lab Card cover?
Lab work covered by the Lab Card:
Blood testing (cholesterol, CBC, Lipid Panels)
Urine testing (urinalysis)
Pathology (PAP smears, mole biopsy, skin biopsy)
Cultures (throat cultures)
What is NOT covered by the Lab Card?
Lab work while hospitalized
Lab work while in the emergency room
Lab work needed on an emergency (STAT) basis
Testing not covered under your current medical plan
Non-laboratory work such as mammography, x-ray,
imaging or dental work
Specimens not processed by LabOne

1 The Member initiates the process by showing their Healthcare Card at their physician’s office and again when the physician states that tests are going to be ordered. It is important to let the office know that the specimens need to be sent to LabOne.
The physician can collect the specimens and calls LabOne for pickup OR the member can choose to go to a contracted LabOne collection site where
there will be NO charge for the collection.
LabOne performs the tests and faxes/sends results to the
physician, generally the next day.
How the Lab Card Works
What do I have to do differently at my physician’s office?
Show your Healthcare card when you check in and let
the office personnel know you intend to use your Lab
Card for your lab work.
Your doctor’s office will need to understand that your
lab work has to be sent to LabOne in order for you to
receive 100% coverage.
To insure that you will not be charged for a collection
you can go to a LabOne contracted collection site.
What if my physician is unfamiliar with LabOne?
If your physician is unfamiliar with LabOne, there are 3
ways to educate your physician. Call LabOne’s 800 number

Have your physician call LabOne’s 800 number, and a Customer Service
Representative will answer any questions that he or she might have
What if my physician does not collect specimens in his or her office, does not want to send to LabOne or will charge me for the collection?
You can choose to use a LabOne contracted collection site to
collect your blood and urine specimens at no charge to you. Request a prescription from your physician for the tests they would like
to have performed

Take your prescription to the LabOne collection site and provide the
prescription and your Healthcare card to the site. Be sure to remind them that
you have the Lab Card
All results will go back to your physician, typically within 24 hours

Review When your outpatient lab testing is done at LabOne, your
employer pays 100% of the lab testing charges - there is NO
cost to you.
This is an employee-driven program - you must identify
yourself as a Lab Card member.
Always remember the 800 Customer Service number on the
back of your ID card, if you have any questions on the Lab
Card Program.
