Employee Engagement Positive outcomes influenced by YOUR feedback Surveying as a Health System June 12-26 UVA Health System wants to discover how to attract and keep the most talented staff members by acquiring critical feedback on how we can improve your workplace environment. In partnership with Gallup, this is the first time all 5 entities of the UVA Health System - Medical Center, University Physicians Group, School of Medicine, Health Sciences Library, and School of Nursing - will be using one survey tool at the same time! Recognition & Incentives • Medical Center spent $543,425 on a comprehensive Rewards & Recognition program for employees: toolkit for managers; employee appreciation events such as holiday events, Valentine’s Day, Health System Week and partnering with local merchants to arrange for exclusive deals and events with Belk and the downtown mall • In February 2013, the Medical Center spent nearly $3 million for another round of market adjustments impacting over half of our employees Communication • Uteam suggestion box was implemented in an effort to improve communication, patient experiences, quality, safety, outcomes and stewardship • Uteam meetings and employee appreciation events have increased for off-site units and clinics • An onboarding system was implemented to ensure that new employees are welcomed, informed, and engaged Leadership Development • 327 front line employees have attended the Informal Leader series and 220 supervisors and managers have attended transactional and transformational leadership courses

UVA Health System wants to discover how to attract and keep the most talented staff members by acquiring critical

feedback on how we can improve your workplace environment. In partnership with Gallup, this is the first time all 5

entities of the UVA Health System - Medical Center, University Physicians Group, School of Medicine, Health Sciences
