This garden pavillion is located in Bjällerviken in northern Sweden, over-looking the lake of Holmsjön. We wanted to create a space that is sheltered from the wind and sun, without loosing all contact with the surroundings.

The main challenge with the project was to work with an organic form within a limited time frame and set of tools. The pavillion was designed and con-structed during two weeks. The design process was from an early stage focused on the importance of fast production of the building elements and finding a set of simple rules to follow in both making of the elements as well as their relation to each orter.

This housing project with 62 apartments, a library, community centre and a sports centre is located on the square Visserijplein in the outskirts of the city center of Rotterdam. The area hosts a big variety of nationalities and a weekly market takes place on thw square, attracting people from the whole city.

With inspiration from the network of courtyards of Hackeschen Höfe in Ber-lin the goal of this new housing block is to create a well defined public space that allows people to explore a walk between four intimate courtyards. A dense concrete facade that melts together with the surroundings conceales the inner public spaces that are covered with ceramic tiles in strong colors, making the courtyards bath in colored light. The eastern courtyard, located on top of the new sportshall, offers a view over the whole square as well as a big, welcoming stair with intergrated seating facing the south – a great place to be on a sunny day.

Apartments are accessed from galleries in the courtyards and bridges binding the courtyards together allows the dwellers to experience the walk between the different atmospheres of the courtyard also on higher levels. There are a variety of dwellings to allow different family constellations and people of different age to live close to each other. Larger family dwellings located on ground level has an entrance floor that can be used either as a living room or transformed into galleries, offices, shops or cafés, allowing small business to grow in the area, ainimg for a lively environment around the courtyards and the square.

DwellingsAdaptability has been a key word in the planning of the dwellings, to enable different uses. Circulation and sliding doors allows plans that can be opened up or completely closed off if needed, a feature that is for instance useful in the dwellings for starters. The two rooms can then be used either as a con-nected bedroom + living room for a couple or as two seperate bedrooms with seperate entrances for two friends sharing the apratment.

This apartment module of 25 square meters holds a compact dwelling that can be placed on top of the flat roofs of the large functionalistic buildings in the district Rosengård in Malmö.The big tilted window and the generous ceiling height along with an efficient floor plan provide qualities of a spa-cious apartment.

Despite its small size the dwelling holds a lot of storage since a whole wall is used as a bookshelf and closet. More storage are to be found in the begin-ing of the stairs.

The apartment is made of cheap materials and will be easy to pre-fabricate to be built on numerous places.

The contribution was awarded with second prize in UngBo12 as well as got an honorary mention from MKB, a municipal real estate owner in Malmö.

Climate change and consequent landscape transformations are reshaping our waterfronts. The project for Kalmar finds its meaning in the reading of these phenomena and establishes a resilient relation between urbanity and nature. The in-between landscape connects a new development and an existing one with the natural landscape. As the water level rises, the character of the landscape will change and it will slowly transform over the next 100 years into a new waterfront. Around the landscape-park, three unique and strongly defined parts are created. Together with the existing neighborhood they form a stronger relationship to Kalmar, both spatially and cognitively. The proposal uses boundaries as the key element for negotiating relation-ships between private and public space. Clear boundaries between land-scape/neighborhood, blocks and plots create a framework that can allow different kind of housing typologies and individual buildings, and provide high quality public space. The variation of plots in each block gives multiple possibilities for development, as some blocks might be fully built at once; others might only to be developed to a certain degree, leaving room for densification over time. Just as the conditions for landscape will change due to geology and climate, conditions for buildings will change due to economical fluctuations and cul-tural influence. The success of Rinkabyholm is about creating a resilient configuration that releases the qualities of the whole site, rather than em-phasizing only one of its capacities.

The main idea of Saluhallen is a light, open interior with both perma-nent market stalls and furniture for temporary market stalls located freely within the space. The most remarkeable architectural feature is the forest of white, slender columns around which the market is lo-cated. Two big squares carved inside the ground function as central meeting points, inviting visitors to have a seat for a coffee or lunch. A glass roof provides the space with a richness of light and the slen-der columns allows an open and free plan at the same time as they define the space.

The market area consists of two parts: a traditional food market with fresh high quality food as well as a more commercial supermarket area. Entrances in both the eastern and western facades creates an axis that extends the rode loeper and allows pedestrians to walk through the market hall on the way between the city center and the station.
