COMMUNITY NEWS:AMEN Announces Rebranding:Arlington Nonprofit Becomes Arlington ThriveArlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs (AMEN) has rebranded and is now

Arlington Thrive. The criteria for use of their Daily Needs Fund and CarterJenkinson Eviction Prevention Fund have not changed.

Since 1975, this organization has been the only one in Arlington to provide same-dayemergency financial assistance to residents who are in crises and cannot pay their

bills, said Executive Director Geraldine Shannon. What we do has not changed, butwe feel that our new name better reflects the organizations mission and vision. If allof its residents thrive, Arlington thrives.

Most of Arlington Thrives clients are the working poor, elderly and disabled residentson a fixed income, and the homeless and formerly homeless who need Thrives fundsas a safety net until they are able to get back on firmer financial footing. Families

with children get the highest priority, and one-third of those served by ArlingtonThrive are children.

With four part-time staff and 30 volunteers, Arlington Thrive serves over 3,500 clientsevery year, providing a total average of $3,200 in emergency assistance per weekday. The nonprofit responds to requests for assistance on behalf of clients from ArlingtonCounty social workers as well as private social service organizations, such as Arlington

Street Peoples Assistance Network (A-SPAN), Doorways for Women and Families, theAlexandria-Arlington Coalition for the Homeless (AACH), and Northern VirginiaFamily Services.
