Jurassic Park Have Arrived. Are We Ready? The Science, Ethics, and Catholic Church Position on Gene Editing and Cloning”, with Dr . Steve Keller , PhD., leading the conversation. The ethical implications of the rapidly emerging genetic technologies raise serious questions for all thinking people. You can now clone your pets, resurrect extinct animals (it’s been done!), and create designer babies – but should you? Our Catholic teachings on genetic manipulation, IVF, gender selection, etc. are extensive but not always understood, particularly in the wider scientific context. Here’s a chance to learn what’s possible, and what the Church says we should or shouldn’t do in the brave new world of genetics. Dr. Keller is a Scientific Director at AbbVie, developing new medicines to treat cancer, inflammatory conditions, and Alzheimer’s disease. He has a B.S. in Physiology and a Ph.D. in Human Genetics; and has co-authored many pharmaceutical industry papers.
