Aloha Dear Patients, Family, and Friends. Aloha Dear Pa-tients, Family, and Friends. As always, before I begin, let me thank the good Lord for another successful issue and for allow-ing us to grow into a magazine. Cancer Free! Only somebody who has been diagnosed with cancer and has been cured, can know how it feels to hear those words. It is still hard for me to believe that a simple little plant could possibly be the cure to one of man’s most devastating diseases. I do not want to give anyone who has cancer, any false hope, or false sense of security. But the facts are, I was diagnosed with Sqamous Cell Carcino-ma Cancer, I refused conven-tional medical treatment, and decided to treat it on my own, using just cannabis and Kan-gan Water (Alkaline balanced). And with these two procedures

If you have seizures, cannabis is great for treating seizures. It will also help with chronic pain, nausea, insomnia, lack of appetite, cannabis will help with these. There are so many things that cannabis can help. It is an unregulated, un-chartered territory that we are in. There are still many things that we are in the dark about regarding cannabis and its benefits. New uses for cannabis are being discovered everyday, and the industry changes with the wind. I will say again people, get your license, take advantage of the doctors on the front cov-er, they are good compassion-ate men and their hearts are in their work. Thank you again Hawaii, for making us who we are, for excepting us into your homes and into your hearts. This is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. We love you , it is our honor and our duty to work for you. Again, in closing, I would like to thank everyone for all their prayers, support, ad-vise, gifts, and love throughout my cancer recovery. And last but not least, the person I would like to thank mostly, is my part-ner in life, Lynn for her un-sway-ing, unshakable faith in God’s gift. She makes me a better man everyday. And I am graced by God to have her in my life.

cured my particular cancer. It is a strange world out there people. I would think this is very exciting news for the indus-try or for anyone for that mat-ter. But the facts are, no one seems to care. I have made numerous calls to channel 2 news, all to no avail. Oh well!

On another note, it looks like this year we might be legal. States are lining up like domi-nos now, and one by one they are all signing up. How bless-ed and lucky we are that Ha-waii is able to produce some of the finest medication in the world. Take advantage of this people, get your BlueCards. This year, we are making a push to double the amount of patients in the state. Sign up, CALL ME AND ASK ME FOR HELP WITH GETTING YOU LI-CENSE. With this license, you may grow 7 plants, you may possess 3 ounces, you may le-gally smoke cannabis in the pri-vacy of your own home. These are just some of the benefits you will receive with your med-ical cannabis license. Please by all means take advantage of what was given to you.

Publisher’s Cancer Cure UpdateFirst, I would like to thank all of the readers who have called, emailed, and approached us, asking questions and giving advise, and praying for Buddy. You have truly touched us deeply with all of your warm wishes. Mahalo for all of your support and prayers. Mahalo! Here we are, at day 70 of the ongoing cannabis oil treatment for Buddy’s cancer on his leg. See the lesion below on day one, and see how it has pro-gressed? We have the initial diagnosis of Sqamous Cell Carcinoma, and we will have the official biopsy results soon, for where it is right now, and we will get one more biopsy after the final ninety day treatment. We are cautiously optimistic about the results, in that it appears to be completely healed. The only thing remaining is some scar tissue which we believe will also heal completely. I want to reiterate that Buddy feels that his cancer diagnosis is a blessing, as pub-lisher of a magazine, he believes he will be able to show the world that cannabis does cure cancer. We are working with several doctors (they are observing and helping us monitor with tests) biochemists who are testing the medicine being used, and scientists who are assisting with the accurate reporting for the scientific community. Our next doctor visit was De-cember 30th and will have the results back after we go to print. I plan on reporting one more time, about the final outcome of the cancer being cured, along with all the proper documentation. We believe we will be providing the world with yet one more proven case of cancer being cured by cannabis. Hopefully, one day we won’t have to be proving it can cure can-cer. My hope would be that we are all curing cancer and many, many other diseases and medical condi-tions. I am looking forward to celebrating the can-cer being cured, will you join me? Lynn - Editor

A Superior Way To ExtractPlant Chemicals and Oils

Produce higher quality products and higher yields and recover the solvent for reuses at a fraction of the time and effort using basic principles of phys-ics without the aid of mechanical compressors or pumps. Isolating waxes, chemicals, oils, and very delicate aromatics is now possible for anyone. The Tamisium Extractor is the first commercially produced low temp, low pressure extractor designed to use a high performance liquid hydrocarbon (n- Butane). N Butane is a non-toxic very non-polar solvent that is recovered for reuses in a totally closed system for safety and economy.By combining all the great features of all extraction techniques a TE allows for zero pressure or pressur-ized, slow or fast, hot or sub-freezing extractions with multiple or single solvents to target spe-cific com-pounds in a plant or any medium. It is the first dedi-cated system that deals with the non-toxic pure butane solvent in a sealed pressurized system with redundant safety fea-tures that recovers the solvent for reuse with-out the aid of any mechanical pump or compressor. The manipulation of this low pressure using the low boiling point of butane in a closed system is what you will learn to use and also is what makes the Ta-misium Extractor so easy to use. But most important is how volatile plant compounds are not lost during the evaporation and recovery of butane. The integrity of highly volatile plant oils are preserved and will ex-actly match the aro-mas as they occur in the plants. All Tamisium Extractors can be purchased through the Hawaii Distributor at www.oil-extractor-reviews.com

finger line of extraction systems begins with a stove top system at around $400.00 and goes up to industrial size systems of 500 gallons. Scaling up is easy!

Butane and propane are fast meth-ods for making hardened oils like waxes and shatter. Done properly, this method is fine, but many nov-ices blow up houses using poorly designed equipment. Another is-sue with hydrocarbons is that they commonly contain impurities such as heavy metals or pipeline lubri-cants that are not always removed during the extraction process. Eden Labs makes hydrocarbon ex-tractors which are fully enclosed, explosion proof, and recover all gases down to 50 parts per million.

Eden Labs introduced its new “Hi-Flo” line of CO2 extractors in April of 2013. Hi-Flo takes CO2 extraction to new heights with much faster extraction times, lower energy costs and vastly re-duced maintenance and down time. The bottom line with Hi-Flo is that monthly revenues can double or triple what is possible with the older design or the cur-rent designs of our competitors.

In summary, only CO2 or ethanol should be used to extract canna-bis for edibles such as cookies, tinctures, drinks, etc. because these solvents are non-toxic and kill all pathogens that might be in the product. If hardened oils like waxes and shatter are the goal, a closed-loop hydrocarbon ex-tractor which recovers all gases and purges the oil under vacu-um is recommended. For tru-ly pure oils that contain no sol-vent traces, CO2 is the method.

Regardless of the types of extracts you are looking to make, Eden Labs has the equipment, reputation and expertise to help you Strike Oil!

that you will recognize today like, Eli Lilly, Upjohn, and Parke Davis.

Hash oil, as it was commonly called, was a rare oddity in modern times and difficult to acquire. This began to change around 1995 when Eden Labs released its first line of “Coldfinger” herb-al extractors. These small and affordable ethanol extractors allowed individ-uals to make high quality extracts in the privacy of their own kitchens. Around the same time, Eden Labs, and others, began experimenting with light hydrocarbon extractions like butane and propane.

In 1997, Eden Labs released a technological breakthrough when it introduced the first cannabis ex-traction method using supercritical carbon dioxide, also common-ly referred to as CO2 extraction or Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE). This allowed cannabis producers to make the first truly pure extract with no solvent res-idue. Today, supercritical CO2 extraction is the method of choice and the oils command top dollar.

Today, the most commonly used extraction methods for cannabis are ethanol, butane and CO2. The advantage of ethanol and CO2 is that they are both disinfectants which kill pathogens that may be in the plant. For this reason, extracts for edibles should only be made us-ing one of these processes. While CO2 is the only method which can claim total purity of product, eth-anol traces are harmless. Higher doses may lead to drunkenness!

The Eden Labs Coldfinger meth-od is the best way to perform ethanol extractions because it makes very thick, concentrated tinctures. Ethanol extractions are decarboxylated during this pro-cess, thus making the THC orally available for edibles. The product is ready for consumption straight out of the extractor. The Cold

Cannabis extracts and concen-trates have surged in popularity the last few years. Part of this new demand is driven by the growing acceptance of marijuana as med-icine. It doesn’t make sense to smoke your medicine, right? The other part is the growing accept-ability of this benevolent plant and its application to more approach-able methods of use, such as vaporizers and edible products.

The emerging extraction technol-ogies developed by Eden Labs since 1996, have contributed to the industry’s growth. New meth-ods of extraction gave rise to these new forms of extracts like dabs, tinctures, salves, edibles, shat-ter and vape pen formulations.

Before we delve deeper into the types of extracts and the ma-chines that make them, it’s useful to take a brief look at the history of cannabis ingestion and appli-cations. Before cannabis was outlawed in 1937, it was most-ly used as an extract and sold in Apothecaries, the forerunner to the modern drugstore. Cannabis tinctures and salves were com-mon products in the apothecary along with other cannabis reme-dies that were manufactured and sold by pharmaceutical companies

My name is TONY the fisherman and my wife is ANABEL. In 1989, I was diag-nosed with Barret’s disease which is a form of Cancer. The Doctor’s informed me that only 2 percent of people who have Bad Reflux develop Cancer and I was in that 2 percent. I kept work-ing while throwing up everyday and in constant pain. At the time the Doctor’s didn’t know how to treat it so they tried some new western medicine com-binations . The Doctor’s told me that was my only chance of beating the cancer but I had to sign a paper say-ing I knew and understood there was no gaurantees. So I decided to start treatment in January of 1999. I had triple looming put in my heart which had three IV ports. One port was for blood test, one was for medicine, and the third port was a backup. I was on home care and within 2 weeks, I start-ed getting worse. By the third week, I developed a fever of 106. When the home care nurse discovered that, I went straight to the hospital packed in ice and soon after , I went into shock. I don’t remember too much other than what my parents told me after. I was in a coma for a week and one day, I opened my eyes and said that’s it, I am done with this. I choose to go home and let God make my decision. The doctor’s insisted that I had to give the meds a chance so I asked them how long more I had to take the meds and they said six more months. Well, six months went by and I was getting weaker. They said another six more months and I didn’t want to do it. I was looking at my family and told myself to do it for my family. I did one year of western medicine treatment and put in a progressive unit in Queens. where I spent six months staring at the ceiling watching room mates come and go as they passed away. One day, my mom and dad came to see me and I asked them if I could go home because I didn’t want to die

doctor’s stood there scratching their heads in disbelief. and I left. It is now January 2014 and I am still cancer free. I got married to a beautiful filipi-na woman 8 years ago and her name is Ana. She came to America in 2006. One day while leaving a store, a huge door fell on her head and she developed severe migraines along with shoulder and neck pain. The doc-tors began treating her with all kinds of western medicine and things went from bad to After three surguries, they finally got it all out. She is only 37 years old. She told me one day that she hates America and all the doctor’s do is give you medicine that makes you more sick and crazy. We spent more time in the ER than anyone would believe. That’s when I said, you know what, let’s get your blue card. At first, she didn’t fully understand but she decided to go with me with her folder full of papers from several doctor’s and she got her card. She’s been self medicating now for about 3 years. She used to take Vicodin, Per-cocet, Oxycodone, and a few others I can’t remember. Now, when she has a migraine attack, she uses Marijuana instead of Imitrex, and it works. When she’s in pain, she self medicates and it works. If she can’t sleep, she self medicates and it works. This is where I come to the part where it is so hard to get Marijuana and medical doesn’t cover it. It’s legal but you can’t get it. I am going to end this long story with one simple statement. When you get a prescription from a doctor, read about the medicine they give you. I hsve been around doctor’s most of my life and I have yet to find a drug that they prescribe that doesn’t have risks of bad side effects . Some even warn that it could kill you. Peo-ple that say Marijuana is a gateway drug is B.S. because all the narcot-ic doctor’s prescribe are gateway drugs and the reason why people get addicted. Any so called medi-cine that a doctor prescribes can be bought in the streets. I dno’t mean to get so deep but I lost so many fam-ily and friends to Western medicine and it has bothered me for years.

in the hospital. Ofcourse, my won-derful parent said if that’s your wish. I went home and slowly went down-hill. I was put on a tube feeding, and one day I opened my eyes and saw my mom and dad standing there look-ing at me crying. I then remembered a doctor I once seen who believed in natural medicine as well as western. I went to see him and he told me my liver was shutting down already all the western medication I was taking. He said the real question now is the cancer going to kill you or the failure of your liver. So back then, and even till today, people don’t fully understand Medical Marijuana. He suggested to me to try it but keep it to myself be-cause he was a doctor in western and all other doctor’s looked at Marijua-na as a street drug. He said after all they gave me and it did more damage than good. He said don’t you think it’s worth a try ? That evening, I sat down with my mom and dad and told them what I was told. My parents was very anti drugs and I was brought up as a strong Catholic and it was hard to suggest that to my parents. My parents wanted to meet the doc-tor and we did after a long discussion. They said we would rather have you try it than to just let you go. The doctor then said if there was any chancen at all, that he would want me to start as soon as possible. He figured I had six to nine months left to live.To my suprise, my parents brought me some mari-juana. Within 2 weeks, they took the feeding tube out. I wasn’t on Morphine anymore. I started getting up on my own in about a month. I kept self-med-icating for about five months and then decided to see my original doctor’s who gave up on me. They wanted to do blood work and I said that’s fine. They asked if I would let them do a scope and take Biopsys and I said sure. And that’s when all my questions were answered. To everyone’s aston-ishment, my cancer was in remission. I then lost my dad to cancer. I con-tinued to self medicate. One year later, I went back to the doctor’s for the full work up, scope and biopsys. Tsts results came back negative. The

was the group was actually a group of construction workers having a cou-ple of drinks after a hard day’s work of transporting dirt to Kapiolani Park for the replenishment of the base-ball fields at the park. And what they were really yelling at the officer was a warning that he was headed straight for the mound of dirt, smack in the middle of Kapiolani Park. Before any-thing else could be done or said, the ATV officer hit the mound at full ATV speed, launching him and the vehicle airborne. All the officer remembered was his body flying one way, his re-port tools going the other, and the ATV soaring – unmanned. The officer recalled plummeting face down onto the grass of Kapiolani Park, his police hat flipped sideward across his head, and his gun belt, with all its equipment pulled up to his shoulders, straddled around his neck. As he got his sens-es back together, all he could think of was, “what happened to the ATV?” He started to get up on his knees, regain-ing his thoughts, when he suddenly heard the sound of a roaring engine…yes, you guessed it. The ATV was still in gear, speeding without a driver, roaring around, unmanned, behind him. All he remembered was the impact of the tires to his back, forcing him forward back to the ground face down. He was run over by his own machine! He recalled years later that he kept the uniform, un-washed, with the ATV tire tracks up the back as proof of his story! Mayberry PD - Bar-ney Fife action.

All the other responding officers ap-proached behind, up the driveway, pulling up car after car. Well, “Gung” getting out of his car, just so happens to have his “latest” edition of the Rem-ington 870 shotgun - with magazine extension – strategically affixed to his drivers’ side door. As he alights from his vehicle, that shotgun acci-dentally goes off, striking his parking brake and transmission, and yes, you guessed it, a dominoes effect of police car after police car rolling backwards down the steep driveway slamming into each other,,,”Book’em Danno”

Or like the one about the officer as-signed to the new Waikiki ATV detail. As he sped by the group, he could see that they were drinking “alcohol-ic beverages”. The group began yell-ing at him and making gestures at the “ATV Cop”. Being he was on his way to an emergency, he decided he would let their disrespectful actions go for now and would tend to them once he completed his “first ATV mission”. He remembers one night when he re-ceived a call about an emergency at the Waikiki Elks club. There he was, parked across the way at the Waiki-ki Shell - on his brand new HPD ATV. He wanted to prove his worth as the newly assigned officer to the ATV pa-trol program and prepared to whisk across Kapiolani Park in an effort to “respond in a timely manner”. As he was reaching maximum speed, trav-elling through the park, he noticed a group of men standing near the ten-nis courts, drinking and making loud noises. The group continued to yell at the speeding ATV and the officer recalled; “speeding by those guys yelling, all he could think of was get-ting to the emergency and get back to that group to teach them a lesson about harassing the HPD ATV Detail”. What the ATV officer didn’t realize

I…Anonymous Barney Miller, that’s what it’s like.

Police work, many questions about what it’s like. Is it really all that shooting and heroics? Speed to the crime scene, beat up the bad guys, go home, drink coffee and wait for the next call? Kind of “Kojakish”. I’ve been asked many times what it was like being a “cop”. Yeah, you bet it’s scary, unpredictable, thankless - yet rewarding…but it’s surely not, “made for TV excitement”. It’s the real stuff happening everyday out there on the streets. It’s hours and hours of inves-tigations followed by hours and hours of report writing followed by hours and hours of testifying…besides also being the doctor, lawyer, refer-ee, and extra ear. Believe me, there are your fair share of Steve McGarret and “Blue Blood” heroics out there... but there sure are your “Reno 911” and “Naked Gun” moments too…

Take for instance “Police Academy”…Ever wonder where they might have gotten those ideas for the series? Look no further than the real “cops”. Everyone knew of the “gung ho” po-lice officer right? The guy with every type of police equipment ever cre-ated? Every type of hand cuff ever made. Every gun ever invented…and of course the need to carry all of them, all the time, in his police vehi-cle? “Tackleberry” so to speak…Well we got a call of a domestic dispute at an Alewa Heights address one night. And if you know the properties at Ale-wa, everyone has a long steep drive-way that you gotta drive up to get to the house. Well the first at the scene, of course, was “Mr. Tackleberry”.

An excerpt taken from the yet to be released book…

“ I…Anonymous Continued from page 12The funniest thing I ever see a police officer do? There was this situation where a guy was threatening suicide at a Halawa construc-tion site one afternoon. The guy was apparently distraught over a domestic situation and was sitting along a cross beam high atop the rafters at the site of one of the towers, threatening to jump. After hours of negotiating, without any success, my fellow officer makes one last attempt to reason with the now defiant male. He calls out to the guy, “Eh, if you not gonna listen to us and get off that beam, we’re just gonna leave and go downstairs and wait for you to jump…so we can help scrape you off the floor when you hit”. The guy, stunned by the officers statement, looks back at my friend cautiously and says, “so you no kea about me either”. The officer calls back, “you not listening to us so why should we keep asking you to come down and talk, we might as well just wait till you jump… and if you still alive, we can talk then”. The male suddenly climbs up onto the beam and hurriedly crawls over to where I and the other officer were starting to walk away from him. The guy runs up to us, taps us on the shoulders and says, “You guys no care if I jump?” We turn and quickly grab this male pulling him to safety. My friend hugs the guy and says, “Of course we care, but let’s go over there and talk where we no can fall, where it’s safe to talk”. Pretty funny…pretty cool. “Car 54, Where Are You”? …I.. Based on newly available information, ArcView’s researchers have issued an update to both the 2013 market estimate and the 2014 market projection. The 2013 market estimate is increased from $1.44 billion to $1.53 billion and the 2014 market projection is increased from $2.34 bil-lion to $2.57 billion. This results in the market growth rate changing from 64% growth to 68%. This is driven mainly by three factors. The increase in medical cannabis purchases that hap-pened since Colorado legalized for adult-use in January of 2013, the increase in price result-ing from shortages in Colorado, and the more than originally predicted demand from tourists.

Aloha Kakahiaka everybody and the sailor leaving Vigo. On this beau-tiful Sunday morning, let’s all give thanks to our makers for such boun-tiful existence. Cover up with Sun-block and swim in the oceans of our minds. Rejoice in miracles and heal-ing, forgive ourselves and be kind to our detractors. There is plenty of everything for everybody, if only we learn to be kind to ourselves.

Honolulu Marijuana DispensariesWe should approach this scientifically by applying for government grants to study further how our dearly beloved Publisher Buddy is able to rid his body of cancer with Cannabis oil and Kan-gen water!!!! There should be at least $600,000 for the initial study and doc-umentation of his carefully monitored 90-day cure. With such a long-time ig-nored cancer healing process, we can then apply for an annual $6,000,000 to establish a Chair at the UH Cancer Research Institute. I believe our Ed-itor is more than capable of applying for such Grants apps and start the International Cannabis to Cure Can-cer Foundation. The Big Kahuna can help by evaluating program issues. But, first, we must begin by thinking outside of the box. After all, we are getting the best smoke for our different afflictions. Mahalo Nui Loa Buddy and Lynn. Awesome Glaucoma medicine.

We are the Buddy System. We need places of business to dispense Can-nabis lawfully. Let’s demonstrate at the State Capitol to demand overdue changes in our laws that criminalize little old ladies like me for taking my medications. It begins with the bias that only bad girls smoke marijuana. How pitiful that some people still need to elevate themselves by putting down little old ladies that need medications. Not only do we not think we are bad, we also think you cannot be any

The robot stopped at an egg cubicle and a device resembling a helmet lit up. The Big Kahuna took the de-vice and gently placed it on his head as he entered the egg. Immediately a list of strange symbols, similar to a list of menu items on a computer screen, appeared on its inner wall. He quickly realized that he could con-trol the symbols mentally, and to his great surprise he was able to change the symbols, not only into English, but Hawaiian as well. As he scanned each symbol, the wall filled with in-formation which he eagerly began reading until his mind could absorb no more and he drifted into sleep.

When he awakened he realized that the knowledge he gained was equiva-lent to many years of study. Yet, upon exiting the egg, his watch indicated that only several hours had elapsed.

Back in Hawaii he shared his expe-rience with me and said he needed to be alone to reflect on what he had learned. I asked him to reveal some of the knowledge of these advanced civilizations. The Big Kahuna told me the about the single phrase that prefaced each category of knowl-edge: Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.

The Dog ManStarting from my next Article, hope-fully I will be able to include poetry from The Dog Man. He is a knowl-edgeable writer from another place, another time. We will learn many things from him that our brains can-not deduce. Excitement, excite-ment!!!!! I am very pleased to be able to bring different tastes to your table.

Aloha Nui Loa, Malama Pono , A hui ho Kako.

good being so snobbish. Ah!!!! We need solutions more than criticisms.

This can all be a tie-in to Medical Mar-ijuana Tourism, involving medical doc-tors, 4-Star Hotels, and heavy doses of Aloha, where patients can roam from island to island for treatment under the Buddy System for Can-cer Care. They’ll get different Island Cannabis in a 3 joint-pack as part of their room service during the evening bed-cover turndown as prescribed by their island doctors, of course with 2 pieces of Chocolates or Brown-ies. Which means our initial grant money of $600,000 should come from the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

The $6,000,000 annual Chair at UH can be much more. We can approach The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Jeannette and Harry Weinberg Foun-dation, Bill and Hillary Clinton Foun-dation. Maybe they will each give us $6,000,000 annually. We can further our Island Industry in so many more directions. Too bad our elected offi-cials are such “Good Boys and Girls” that they can never think like this.

Set aside 2/22/2014 for celebrations of Buddy’s cure, I will show up with Hong Kong Dim Sum for everyone. Location will be announced. If you prefer home cooking, bring something and share.

The Big Kahuna Leaps into the GalaxyThe Big Kahuna shared his latest ad-venture where he transported himself, not into the future, but to a planet in a far off galaxy, many light years from earth.

A single structure dominated this plan-et, which he later learned was named Kaleehee by the alien residents. The structure was a massive archive, housing the existing knowledge of all the alien life forms from many galaxies.

As he entered, he was greeted by a robotic device which guided him to a vast room filled with endless rows of egg-shaped cubicles. The robot was merely a narrow obelisk with a circular pattern of hooks on its top, holding communication de-vices of different sizes and shapes, geared apparently to meet the as-sorted physical and mental require-ments of the various alien life forms.

Aloha, I am the Goddess M. If MMJ is something you depend upon to maintain your health, it is probably in your best interest to know whether your elected officials are casting votes to represent you. If you don’t know, ask them; if they don’t have the same views as you do, don’t be afraid to ask them why. This article will help you to easily find, choose and get informed on the legislation that is being filed in the capitol and is eligible for decision; and assist you in getting the most out of your relationship with your legislators in regard to the legislation you care about. Please keep in mind, fellow smokers, vapologists and grow extraordinairres; your legislators are writing the laws we all must live under and they are supposed to write laws that are fair, objective and unbiased toward any one group of people. Make sure your legislator understands that we, the MMJ patients and supporters, deserve representation in the law as well. We have votes and those votes are a politician’s most precious currency. Don’t be made to feel you are a bother, many a legislative clerk and dozens of staffers have told me that, when it comes to Congress (whether it is State

or Federal), nothing is more true than the old saying “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” Alright y’all, it’s time to start making some noise. There are over 120 bills that have either the word marijuana or hemp in them currently filed for this legislative session. If it makes you more comfortable, don’t hesitate to request a meeting in person to ask questions instead of requesting replies through email, mail, fax or phone. Your representatives should want to talk to you about how they are voting while they are paid by the state to represent your interests. If your legislator doesn’t (or won’t) represent you, let them know you plan to vote for someone who will. And remind them, again and again. Do not be ignored, check back, leave messages every week (I used to set an alarm on my phone to call/fax/email once a week) and if your representative doesn’t schedule an appointment, keep calling and insisting. At first glance, this will all seem like a lot but there are tools and people to help you. The Public Access Room (PAR) on the 4th floor of the capitol building can help you find all of the information I describe, they helped me. You can go there and they will show you how to look up bills and your legislators from home (or your phone if you can get the web). So relax, even though it seems like a lot, once you look up your district’s elected officials they stay the same until someone else is voted into their spot; after that it’s just phone calls, emails and (my favorite) faxes. Try not to underestimate the power of your vote, every person in office depends on votes to stay in office

and every person’s vote counts equally. I encourage every Hawaiian, whether imported or island-born, to take back the power a democratic government gives them! Having doubts about how effective these calls, emails and faxes will be? That’s fair. Alright, let’s talk numbers. If you think your one little email once a week (hey, it’s just a few button clicks; why not daily) won’t make a difference, that all someone has to do to ignore your email is hit delete... it is simply not that easy for them when we ALL DO IT. Let’s say the 40,000 or so current MMJ licensed patients told two people each and all of the 120,000 people sent emails every week. If the emails were only sent Monday through Friday, that averages 24,000 emails a day. Seems harder to ignore now, doesn’t it? Add to these emails the hundreds of personal appointments the Legislator will have to find room for in their schedule to talk to the constituents (voters) in their district that would like to talk to them about upcoming marijuana and hemp policies and why the bill is or is not being supported. If we all commit to it, we cannot be ignored. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is one of the most politically influential groups in America for that exact reason, its members aren’t afraid to be the ‘squeaky wheel’. Why not learn from the best?continued on page 28

FDA Approves Clinical Trials Of CBD In Cases Of Pediatric EpilepsyThe US Food and Drug Administration this fall granted approval for the importation of cannabidiol (CBD) extracts as an experimental treatment for a rare, intractable form of pediatric epilepsy known as Dravet syndrome. Preliminary clinical trials assessing the safety and tolerability of the compound in children are scheduled to begin in early 2014. Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that has been documented to possess a variety of therapeutic qualities, including anti-inflam-matory, anti-diabetic, anti-epileptic, anti-cancer, and bone-stimulating properties.

Study: No Association Between Cannabis Smoking And Lung CancerSubjects who regularly inhale cannabis smoke possess no greater risk of lung cancer than do those who consume it occasion-ally or not at all, according to data presented in May at the annual meeting of the American Academy for Cancer Research. UCLA investigators analyzed data from six case-control studies, conducted between 1999 and 2012, involving over 5,000 subjects (2,159 cases and 2,985 controls). They reported, “Our pooled results showed no significant association between the intensity, duration, or cumulative consumption of cannabis smoke and the risk of lung cancer overall or in never smokers.”

Feds Pledge Not To Interfere In State-Licensed Retail Sales Of CannabisDeputy Attorney General James Cole issued a three-page memorandum in August affirming that the US Justice Department will allow Colorado and Washington to move forward with statewide efforts to license and regulate the adult marijuana mar-ket. Cole later reaffirmed the agency’s position in testimony before the US Senate, stating, “We will not ... seek to preempt state ballot initiatives.”

States Finalize Regulations Governing Adult Cannabis SalesRegulators in Colorado and Washington this fall began accepting applications from businesses seeking to engage in the li-censed cultivation, production, and retail sale of cannabis and cannabis-infused products. In Washington, several thousand ap-plicants have applied for pot business licenses. In Colorado, regulators have begun approving licenses and several commercial establishments are expected to be open for business on January 1, 2014.

Please join us in the celebration, and announce it to the world, CANNABIS CURES CAN-CER! The publisher received the diagnosis of Sqamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of cancer that appeared as a round scab on his lower leg. He had been picking and scratching at it for years and it was suggested that he get it checked. He scheduled an appointment and asked his PCP if he should be concerned about it. She said maybe we should have a dermatologist take a look at it. She didn’t think it was cancerous because it didn’t have the appearance of typi-cal cancer. The scab was surgically removed and within two days it was growing back. He immediate-ly started the cannabis oil treatment on 10-20-13. The scab that had grown back, literally fell of in only 4 days of cannabis oil treatment. A bump remained for some time during treatment but eventually went away completely. He be-lieved he was given the cancer as a gift or a blessing, in that he being the publisher would be able to show the world that (if it cured his cancer) that cannabis does cures cancer. He called several doctors seeking advise about the cannabis oil treatment, and how to proceed. Not one doctor had any advise or guidance other than “keep me posted”. He decided to treat topically, orally, and smoking or vaporiz-ing. We monitored and documented every step of the way with pictures and doctors reports. As well as Justin, from Synergistics in Colo-rado helped with testing the oil and tincture used so we know what was in it and hopefully will know now what works and what doesn’t work. We know the THC and CBD levels and can report the results for other seeking to cure their cancer. We all have to work together be-cause none of the doctors provide guidance. We are on our own, and we can do it. Publish-er just did it and we want to scream it out to the world. CANNABIS CURES CANCER!!!

Spread the word! IT SAVES LIVES!!! Please see all the documentation and use it for your own research. In closing the publisher would like to say: Oh My God! Oh my God! Oh my God! It real-ly really works. When I got the results of the second biopsy, I could not believe it, I was stunned. To say that I was stunned, was an under statement of the year. Since announcing the diagnosis of SCC, I have had many people, close friends offer their suggestions on how to cure my cancer. I was overwhelmed, but in a good way. What I decided was not to do any treatment offered, except those treatments that are cannabis in nature. I used cannabis oil, fresh cannabis, hash, tincture, and all were ap-plied topically and ingested orally. The only other change I made was alkaline water, Kan-gen water to be exact, which was given to me as a gift. I would like to say thank you for all the prayers and support that I have received from everyone. I am not used to being the cen-ter of attention and receiving such an out pour-ing of love, it was beautiful and I thank you so very much. Can you believe it? What does this mean? What do we do now? All I can do is report the facts, exactly the way they were recorded. My reputation and that of KNP, is at stake here. I am CANCER FREE. I refused conventional medical treatment and treated my cancer holistically, with prayers, cannabis and Kangen water to flush my body. Please write your congressman, talk to your doctors, call your representatives, do something, this has now taken a serious turn. What we are pro-moting could quite possibly cure cancer. This needs to be researched, talked about, and we need to make some noise my friends. There is a serious possibility that people are suffering needlessly, that there may be alternatives to the way we treat cancer. Buddy

Charlotte Figi of Colorado is not quite like other six-year-old girls; she, unfortunately, suffers from a rare form of ep-ilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome, which causes severe seizures to wrack her small body. Charlotte was inhibited by over 300 seizures a month, which prevented her not just from running and playing like her peers, but from simple, everyday necessities, such as eating and walking on her own. Nothing seemed to help put the child’s ailments to rest; that is, until her parents decided to try cannabis oil.

Charlotte’s father, Matt Figi, had previously heard of an instance where another child with Charlotte’s same dis-ease had found relief with the aid of medical marijuana, and he and his wife decided to give it a shot. Paige, Char-lotte’s mother, recalled, “When she didn’t have those three, four seizures that first hour, that was the first sign, and I thought well, ‘Let’s go another hour, this has got to be a fluke. The seizures stopped for another hour. And for the following seven days.”

The particular strain used to treat Charlotte has been nicknamed “Charlotte’s Web,” and is low in THC (which causes the effects associated with a “high”) and high in CBD, which is cannabis’s main medical component. The treatment was finally approved by pediatricians and other health specialists after a long and arduous battle, and the results have been nothing short of amazing.

Medicinal marijuana has allowed Charlotte to catch up with her peers at an incredibly fast pace; she can now walk, eat, and even ride a bicycle without any assistance. According to her parents, she has been talking more and more each day. Thanks to the relief she finds in medical marijuana, she is able to lead a more fulfilling and less painful life, just like any six-year-old should have the opportunity to do.

Thanks to this Imgur album, we can see how Charlotte has been able to successfully transition from a little girl bat-tered by an unfortunate illness…

…into a healthier, happier girl, ready to take on the world.

Dabbing Hawaiian StyleCrumble, Shatter, or Wax?What’s Your Preference?

For those who are not already aware, cannabis concentrates have dominat-ed much of the public conversation about cannabis recently. Surely, mar-ijuana extracts have been around for years – hash and kief being the most obvious examples - but one particu-lar variety of concentrate, “cannabis oil” is coming to the forefront as of late. The cannabis industry, and even pop-culture, seems to be making an overall shift towards cannabis con-centrates. Competitions like the 710 Cup and The Secret Cup are popping up to celebrate the accomplishments of hash makers and crown the best extracts. Although these competitions are open to all types of concentrates, cannabis oils always seem to domi-nate the proverbial leader board.Unfortunately, there is far too much misinformation on the topic of canna-bis extracts, especially when it comes to making the oil. It seems that sensa-tionalist media figures want to paint “dabbing” – a term that refers to va-porizing a small amount of cannabis oil – as the next big danger to society. While there are definitely risks to be considered, many of the existing is-sues can be eliminated with proper education and precautions.

What Is Dabbing? What Is A Dab?The growing popularity of cannabis oil leads to a number of questions from those discovering dabbing for the first time. The first of which, of

course, is “What are dabs?” To put it simply, a dab is a small amount of a concentrated cannabis extract. “Taking a dab” refers to the process of touching, or “dabbing”, this small amount of extract against a heat source, a titanium nail in most cases (sometimes glass or quartz), in order to vaporize the extract.

The most potent cannabis flowers in the world lab test around 30% total cannabinoids at best. Keeping in mind that a certain percentage of a flower’s weight would be terpenes, one could reasonably assume that 50% or more of it would be vegetative plant matter. This plant matter, in addition to hav-ing limited therapeutic value, can be harmful to the lungs when smoked.Of course, one can avoid the harmful carcinogens by vaporizing cannabis, and that is the thought process be-hind “dabbing” as well. Using one of many solvents, concentrate makers are able to separate the essential oils, which contain cannabinoids and ter-penes, from cannabis plant matter. A list of commonly used solvents in-clude: ethanol (Everclear), Isopropyl Alcohol, Propane, CO2, and Butane.“When made correctly, cannabis concentrate should be reminiscent of the strain it was extracted from. The smell, taste, and effect is simply mag-nified.”

A lot of confusion about cannabis ex-tracts stems from the lack of uniform terminology in the cannabis com-

munity. For instance, ‘Butane Hon-ey Oil’, or ‘BHO’ as it’s commonly referred to, is a type of concentrate made using butane as the solvent. While a number of variables can de-termine the final consistency of BHO (mostly temperature), people use dif-ferent names when referring to each consistency. ‘Shatter’ for instance, refers to the glass-like consistency that often snaps or “shatters” when handled. Budder, honeycomb, and sap also have their own meanings, though they all fall under the catego-ry of BHO.

As the name suggests, the finished cannabis concentrate will be much more potent than medicating with the whole flowers it was extracted from. This is because the process of making oil focuses on extracting only the ben-eficial compounds, or resin, from the cannabis flowers. When made prop-erly, a cannabis concentrate should be reminiscent of the strain it was extracted from. The smell, taste, and effects are simply magnified due to a larger concentration by weight. How Do You Dab?The typical “dab” set-up involves a bong or bubbler with a twist. Each “dab rig” will need a heating element that allows it to vaporize cannabis concentrates. One common type of heating element is a skillet, or pad. They are usually made from quartz or titanium, which allows them to re-tain high temperatures.

Continued from page 22To prepare for your meeting, email messages or phone calls, it is a good idea to research a little into what you want to discuss and where the questions should go. This will help you to come across as well in-formed to your legislator and will help to convince them to TAKE YOU (and your issues) SERIOUSLY. Al-though at first glance, it seems hard to do, it’s actually really easy! To get started, you will need to know which legislators represent your area. Go to http://capitol.hawaii.gov to search for your representatives in Congress by entering your street name at the top, right side of the site. While you have that informa-tion in front of you, it is a good idea to write down their names, phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses. You may find it easiest to save each of them as contacts in your phone, since there are places to put all of those items. Once you have that information, it will not change un-til you move or an election changes who is in the seat. Now you know WHO to call, next step is to decide WHAT you would like to talk about. Readers are (of course) welcome to use the questions from the Ali’i Nui Aipoalani interview as a start if those subjects interest them. Read-ers should also run a keyword search for marijuana, hemp (more on that next month) and any other subjects they feel strongly about. Once the bills come up in list form, look them over and see which ones you do or don’t support, then write them down in a list to reference. It is recommend-ed to also write a short description of each, in case they ask, as they can’t memorize all the numbers either. Use that list of bills to talk to your legisla-tors; a list will help keep the meeting on point, which will allow you to get the most out of your time. Listen to their opinion on each bill first. Try not to interrupt, instead take the chance to hear what they think WITHOUT your input to guide their answer; you’ll get the most honest answer that way. Then, tell them these bills are important to you and why. Then tell your friends to go tell them too.

GoddessM (GM): How has medicinal marijua-na (MMJ) affected your life, both physically and emotionally?Ali’i Nui Aipoalani (Ali’i): “It affected me when My (sic.) brother had a serious illness and used it to releave (sic.) his pain until he passed.”GM: Have you witnessed MMJ benefit anyone near you? Ali’i: “ Yes, it has helped a few people that I know tremendously for their illnesses that they have, like cancer and pain due to accidents.”GM: In what ways did you see MMJ helpAli’i: ”It has Helped (sic.) them to cope with their daily pain, stress and everyday life.”GM: Do you think MMJ should be left as strict-ly a medicinal substance or do you believe it should be accessible to people without a prescription? If you think MMJ should be avail-able without a prescription, do you think there should be an age of majority (like 21 years old for alcohol) applied to marijuana purchases?Ali’i: “I think both medicinal and recreational is (sic.) fine for those over 21. Like [President] Obama said, it’s no worse than alcohol.”GM: If authorized for non-medical sale, do you think non-medical marijuana should be taxed?Ali’i: “Yes.”GM: Do you think medical purchases of marijuana should be taxed? We are a Sovereign Nation (sic.) and we are a separate govern-ment.” The Ali’i Nui finished by advising he is more than happy to elaborate further if the readership would like further elaboration. So, feel free to submit any further questions you may have for the Ali’i Nui through the King-dom’s website at http://www.atooination.com while you check out the Polynesian Kingdom of Atooi. Kaulana Na Pua and I extend our deep gratitude to Ali’i Nui Aleka Aipoalani for giving us the opportunity to ‘put him in the grinder’.I encourage you, members of my MMJ Ohana, to ask yourself these same questions and then CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS and see if you approve of their views and answers on these subjects (See how on page ##). The MMJ vote should matter to Hawai’ian Legisla-tors, we are the people too. Let’s join hands and tell our Legislature what we want for our votes!

Another great tactic is to go talk to the sponsor of the bill to be notified when the hearings will be held for that specific bill and, if you are passionate about the legislation and have story to talk on the matter, offer to testify at the hearings in support. You may also want to find out whom is the head of the committee that your bills are assigned to (there may be more than one committee). Call those leg-islators’ offices as well and ask them if and when they are going to be scheduling your bills for hearing and/or vote (depending on if the hearings have been done). Again, relax, the PAR will help you find whatever in-formation you need regarding who’s who and which bills are still ‘alive’. Keep in mind, if you aren’t regis-tered to vote, it is very difficult to get legislators to take you seriously. This is because their currency is translat-ed into the VOTES, not happiness, of the people in their district. So make sure you are registered to vote in your district and that you GO VOTE. Emp-ty threats fade like echos from a sea-side cliff, voters must follow through to continue to be taken seriously. Next month, watch for articles that walk you through setting up easy fax and email lists. These lists will enable everyone to send emails and faxes to all their legislators in a few minutes every week. Emails (of course) for free and faxing using programs avail-able online and (joy!) through apps available on smart phones. Thanks for reading, and MAHALO for helping to take back pakalolo for the people!

Atooi InterviewThe Polynesian Kingdom of Atooi is seated in the westernmost region of Kauai (Kekaha) and has been a rec-ognized sovereign nation by the Unit-ed Nations (UN) and the Royal Union of Pacific Nations (T-MAK) since 2011 and 2009, respectively. Ali’i Nui, or King, Aipoalani was active in the 2007 Superferry protests and has been the subject of judicial debate since. However his participation in the protests was spurred from a deep love the Ali’i harbors for the beautiful islands we call home, as can be seen through his proclamation of sustain-ability and continued commitment to creating a sustainable future for the islands and their residents. Ali’i Nui Aleka Aipoalani gave the Kaulana Na Pua an opportunity to ‘grind’ his brain with questions last month, and now we give his answers to our reader-ship. So, it’s time to put this in your bowl and smoke it. Enjoy.

Dabbing Hawaiian StyleCrumble, Shatter, or Wax?What’s Your Preference?

The first step is to heat the skillet with a hand-held torch. Once hot enough, use the “swing” to put the skillet in place. Now, you may dab your can-nabis concentrate, which is on a “dab tool,” in the center of the skillet. It’s important that you inhale at the same time that your concentrate touches the pad. Otherwise, you will lose a great deal of vapor.Another, more common heating ele-ment is the nail. Like skillets, quality nails are usually made from titani-um or quartz. However, glass nails are easier to find and are sold much cheaper as well. The only problem is that glass nails break after prolonged use. In our experience, we have been lucky to get more than 3 months use out of a glass nail. Most nails require the use of anoth-er piece, called a ‘dome’, which fits over the nail and has a small open-ing in the top that helps capture & direct the vapor back down through the pipe when it comes off the nail; so you don’t lose any. Domes are typical-ly made of glass and can often times be very intricate pieces of art. With that said, domes & nails can also be a difficult concept for new “dabbers” to grasp, as many people still feel like they have to pull the nail or dome out of the slide after their hit (like they are clearing a bong rip…this could lead to some toasty fingers). In light of that, a number of compa-nies have developed “domeless nails” which eliminate most of the confu-sion, but still leave an exposed piece of titanium that is somewhat of a haz-ard to the more clumsy type.As with skillets, the first step to taking a dab with a nail is to heat it up with

the torch. Once hot, slide the dome in place (unless it is a domeless nail, of course) and simply dab the concen-trate on the nail while inhaling. Is Dabbing Safe?Dabbing is a method of medi-cating that may appear odd and somewhat dangerous to the un-trained eye. The use of an open-flame torch, albeit small, can turn patients away from the phenome-non altogether. However, dabbing doesn’t entail any more risk than cooking over a gas stove. As long as precautions are taken, there is not much to worry about.Of course, the entire aspect of fire can be eliminated with vaporizer pens if patients prefer. Further-more, a number of companies such as Highly Educated and Retti Nail have developed electronic nails that allow the patient to set the temperature of their nail. Not only does this eliminate the need for open flames, but it adds a level of control & accuracy that is close to impossible to achieve with a torch.“Dabbing cannabis concentrates is a great alternative for those who do not wish to smoke their canna-bis.”

Surely, a great deal of concern comes from news reports about explosions while making BHO. This is nothing to sweep under the rug, but these situations are large-ly due to a lack of precaution.Concentrate making is best left to those with experience, but if it must be done, it should always be done outside or in a lab setting with a specialized ventilation sys-tem to ensure proper air flow. Be-cause of the flammable nature of

butane gas, even static electricity should be avoided when making BHO (its best to keep cell phones at a distance).Another concern that deserves it’s own discussion is the possible pres-ence of residual solvents in canna-bis extracts. Again, this problem is due to either a lack of education or precaution on behalf of the con-centrate maker and/or the dispen-sary from which it was distributed. Testing labs like Steep Hill Halent (Oakland), The Werc Shop (Los Angeles), and Cann Labs (Den-ver) offer residual solvent testing for concentrates. These tests allow them to determine the amount of solvent (butane, propane, ethanol, etc.) in a given extract.Overall, “dabbing” is a phenome-non that poses a number of ques-tions for those being newly intro-duced to it. The news portrays it as “the next crack,” when it truly could improve the quality of life for a number of medical marijua-na patients. Consider the patient who uses medical marijuana to help treat depression, but also has asthma, and therefore needs some-thing easier on the lungs.“Dabbing” cannabis concentrates is a great alternative for those who do not wish to smoke their canna-bis, as well as connoisseurs who desire a more flavorful experience than most flower can provide. With that said, it’s unlikely that cannabis industry’s love affair with concentrates will come to an end anytime soon.

Grow Your OwnLocal Home Grown Approximately 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is cov-ered by oceans and other bodies of water. Protruding from these vast waters are pinnacles of land such as the Hawaiian islands. Over an estimated two billion years, the land has been worn down by rainfall, which washes the various soil elements out to sea. Thus, it is apparent that the sea is an enormous receptacle of the former or-

ganic chemical richness and balance that once supported all plant life on these lands. Knowing this, many growers have experimented recently by using ocean water as an organic fertilizer for their medical marijuana grows. It has proven to be one of the greatest all natural fertilizers that we have ever used. Liv-ing here in Hawaii gives us an endless supply of clean blue crystal-clear ocean water that is of the highest quality avail-able on earth. In the ocean, by the very nature of its liq-uid crystalloid state, there is no occurrence of blocking or

need to substitute elements as we do with chemical ferti-lizers to achieve root absorp-tion. In the ocean the elemen-tal tables are in a solution of both consistency and PH balance making it the perfect all natural organic fertilizer for your plants. For a prop-er safe plant mixture for your soil, combine a 50/50 ratio of fresh water and ocean water to your plants once a month- giving them a perfectly bal-anced meal of micro nutrients and beneficial ocean microbi-als for optimum growth.

Urban Myths ExposedFrom the 1920s to the early 90s there have been a lot of marijuana prohibi-tion programs that were strictly based off of false information that have seen their day. To mention just one that still effects how people think about marijuana even today is the D.A.R.E. program. The D.A.R.E program was introduced to the public school systems as a scare the kids straight drug-control strategy of the Ameri-can War on Drugs. As all propagan-da based programs do, the majority of information regarding marijuana that the D.A.R.E. program teaches was mostly false information with cra-zy accusations like marijuana availa-ble today is more potent than the pot

that our parents used to smoke. Many websites online still base their infor-mation off of this idea, wrongly lead-ing the younger generations to think that they are doing something better or more advanced than the old school growers did- which isn’t the case at all. The times have changed but the potency of marijuana in Hawaii and all over the U.S. has always been near the levels we see today, it just depends on what you’re smoking. Yes, the low-grade marijuana that comes mostly from Mexico is a lot less potent, but there are a lot of strains from that day that top some of the best we have to-day. A lot of misconceptions regard-ing this subject is also due to pictures of marijuana from the 60’s and 70’s showing buds that were not mani-

cured, allowing the younger genera-tions to judge a book by its cover. A lot of people think that the marijuana of the 60’s and 70’s must be garbage if it looks dark and un-manicured. Little do they know that the darker bud of Hawaii will put any greener commer-cial bud to shame and this is why seed banks in Amsterdam sell these strains at the highest market price above all the rest.
