The phrase Koom Essa – Goot Essa appeared in many of the old Goody Goody™ ads.
It appears to be a phonetic spelling of a German phrase that means “Come Eat Good Food.”
We’ve kept it as a conversation piece, and as a nod to history.

“ I’m ecstatic to bring back Goody Goody!” – Richard Gonzmart
Goody Goody™ was a Tampa tradition that opened in 1925 and closed in 2005. We’ve lost too many of these iconic places over the years and I really did not want the name to just fade away into history. Goody Goody™ is one of those places that helped create Tampa’s identity.
At the Columbia Restaurant, which marked its 110th anniversary in 2015 — as did Hyde Park Village — we celebrate history, heritage, family and good food. That’s also what this restaurant means to me.
In the heyday of Goody Goody™, it was a simpler era. People were nicer to one another, kinder to one another. That’s a feeling I want to bring back with this restaurant, at the very least for the time our guests spend with us.
I promise to do everything within my power to recreate the flavor and memory of Goody Goody™. I also promise to go back to the way the food was prepared in the old days.
This historic neighborhood, close to the original 1925 Goody Goody™ location on Grand Central at Dakota, is perfect for us.
I believe that the right food — and the right space — can help a community grow closer together.

When second owner William Stayer
bought a Tampa barbeque stand from
Ralph Stephens in 1929, it included
all the recipes, including the BBQ
sauce. Barbeque remained on the
restaurant signs and advertising for
years. But the distinctive, messy, tasty
Goody Goody™ hamburgers – liberally
doused with that tomato-based secret
sauce – became the menu staple
called “POX” (with precisely cut
pickles, onions and, oh, that sauce).
