Dear Parents and Friends, Welcome back to another busy term. Yesterday Edward School hosted a training and development day for 130 teachers and 140 support staff from 27 schools in our district. The day was organised by a committee of principals from the district. Our Edward School P&C did a fabulous job catering for the large crowd, providing morning tea and a delicious spread for lunch. I would like to thank Felicity Michael, the P&C president and a tireless group of ladies who helped her on the day. Thank you also to everyone who helped with the catering. The principal organising committee for the day was very impressed. Deafness Foundation We have received a certificate of appreciation from the Deafness Foundation thanking us for our fundraising efforts and supporting the butterfly badge appeal. The school raised $400 through the sale of badges. If you would like to purchase a badge, there are still a few available at the office. Extended Leave Ms Soper is on leave at present. Mrs Blacker and I will be sharing the relieving principal’s position for the first 4 weeks of term. A letter has been sent to every school family outlining in detail the changes that are being made to staffing. If you do not receive that letter in the next few days, please contact the school. Education Week On Thursday July 31st, Week 3, Edward school will be celebrating Education Week with a gala day. The outline of the day is being finalised. The jump rope demonstration team will perform, classrooms will be open for you to visit and we will have a picnic lunch. Please try to put aside some time to visit to see the great things the children are doing. Staff Development Day Wow- what a start to Term 3!!! Thank you to all of those people who helped with the mammoth task of catering for the Staff

Development Day held at Edward yesterday. We fed 270 people, and we received many compliments about the quality and

quantity of food provided! A huge thanks to Clare Muldoon, Debbie Gazzara, Lyn Smith and Gail Barling who worked tireless-

ly all day. Thank you also to Kama Duffey, Sarah Young, Deb Bowie, Christina Mildren, Kylie Cartwright, Missy Bradley, Ky-

lie Hayes, Barb Larcombe, Belinda Larcombe, Alex Glowrey, Fiona Semple, Wendy Nethercote, Nat Shaw, Nat Dawson, Kylie

Green and Jo Evans who all cooked for the day. All containers and pots can be collected from the staff room. Thank you also to

Isabel Michael and Hayley Noonan who provided hours of assistance in preparation and on the day. We have raised over $4000

for the canteen- which will go back into P&C projects.

Welcome Gail Barling- our new Canteen Manager who started on Friday. Please make her feel welcome. Thanks to Sacha

Jefferies for helping Gail to become familiar with the canteen operation. More canteen volunteers are desperately needed.

Please see Gail.

Canteen Accounts- the canteen has a policy that accounts must be in credit for items to be booked up. Reminders have gone

out today, and will go out each Wednesday to all families who use the credit book so that you can keep track of your account.

Only accounts which are in credit will be able to be used from now on. Thank you for your cooperation.

Chocolate Fundraiser- Chocolates are due to go out next Monday. If you DON’T want to receive chocolates please let the of-

fice know.

HELPERS needed- packing chocolates THIS FRIDAY after assembly. It should only take an hour- if we have 5 or 6 helpers.

Please fill in the slip below and return to the office.
