Budget on the Backs of Those Who Serve Alert - 15,000 Between the
FY14 and FY15 pay caps, the purposed BAH reductions, the planned
reductions in commissary savings, and the new health care fees, an
E-5 family of four would experience a loss of nearly $5,000 in
purchasing power annually and an O-3 family of four would
experience a loss of nearly $6,000 in purchasing power
annually.

and civilian leaders have created a perfect storm, providing
political top cover to slash pay and benefits with repeated,
alarming and noticeably misleading statements on personnel cost
growth. This quadruple whammy of capping pay, increasing
out-of-pocket expenses for housing, consolidating TRICARE, and
slashing commissary benefits would be four giant steps towards
repeating past insidious measures that led to retention and
readiness problems. The Military Coalition (TMC) Testifies Before

Slide 6
Advocating for EARNED Benefits Educate Engage Excite You know
that commissaries are a core benefit of the military family, an
integral part of total compensation. Military families see 30%
savings by shopping at commissaries. They save up to $4,400 dollars
a year. The Pentagon plan would crush that savings hitting families
right in the pocket book. The strangulation plan the Pentagon has
foisted out would mean higher prices at the commissaries making
commissary shopping less attractive. Resulting in fewer customer
visits, diminished sales. It would also cause a deep drop in sales
at exchanges, exchanges which pay for Morale Welfare and Recreation
programs, such as child care, sports programs for the family.

a pay cut, pure and simple. Anyone who tells you otherwise is
playing an inside-the-beltway, fuzzy-math game that doesn't take
into account the bottom line for most military families. Its going
to be painful. Jeremy Hilton, Co-Founder #KeepYourPromise
