    DESIGNING WITH LEDS EDN 2

Welcome to the e-book version of

EDNs 2011Designing with LEDsseminarManufacturers of high-brightness LEDs continue to push the boundaries

of LED efcacy and color quality. Residential and industrial customers

alike want the energy-efciency and enhanced performance levels

of solid-state lighting. The technology and market demand combine

to make LED-based lights, from the home to the factory oor to

the municipal parking lot, a vibrant and growing market. However,

constraints such as legacy lighting control and dimmers as well as

thermal limitations pose ongoing challenges for circuit and lighting

design engineers. New products from power and thermal management

component manufacturers introduce new products to meet these

challenges, but how to select which offerings match your design needs?

EDNs 2011 Designing with LEDs Workshop held in May in San Jose, CA

brought together industry experts from both the LED and IC control

industries for panel discussions, technical papers, and afternoon

workshops on LED selection and control. This ebook presents the

slides for the technical papers presented on topics ranging from power,

thermal, and color management. We hope you benet from these

presentations, and look forward to seeing you at the next LED workshop

held in Boston on September 27, 2011!
