Advance Turning and Manufacturing, Inc. has been an ongoing success

since it was founded in 1972. What started with one man’s determination to revolutionize the precision machining industry, quickly prospered into a multi-million dollar corporation that today employs more than 150 employees.

But the reality is, Advance Turning’s success cannot be contributed to one man. The company’s ability to continue growing is built on every employee and their uncompromising commitment to provide quality products, on time, at competitive prices.

Our future is based on talented and passionate people who want to maximize their potential by being innovative and resourceful; people who take pride in creating pieces of our society that are meaningful and lasting. It’s based on people who understand the importance of accountability, putting our customers first, and treating people with respect. People who value collaborating with others, thinking creatively to solve problems, leveraging our diversity, and maintaining a fully engaged workforce. Confident and skilled people who stand ready to take on every challenge.

You are those people. Each and every one of you are the real value of Advance Turning. As a company we can continue to add machines, take on new work, and acquire new facilities, but without you and your ideas, ingenuities, and hard work we would fall short of our customers’ expectations.

That being said, my challenge to you is to continue learning and fostering new ideas and opportunities. The world of business is constantly changing and in the end, our products, pricing, or our systems will not matter without intelligent and skillful employees like you. I encourage you to continue improving yourself and contributing to our organization so that together we can secure our future.

Thank you for being a team that embraces accountability and makes sure that promises made are promises kept, not just to our customers and suppliers but to each other. Your contributions and dedication will undoubtedly continue to make a tremendous difference this year.

Dakota Rogers, son of Chad Rogers, 3rd Shift Value Stream Manager, made the Big 8 First Team all Conference as an offensive lineman (center). Dakota is a sophomore at Springport High school. Dakota works on a dairy farm and plans to attend a Division 3 school for agriculture business. He also hopes to continue playing football. Congratulations, and good luck in the future!

Dakota Rogers Makes Big 8 McDivitt Beats Morrill in Holiday Food Drive

Competition

From December 10 to December 19, 2012, Advance Turning & Manufacturing had a Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Salvation Army. The Morrill Rd. plant competed with the McDivitt Rd. plant to see who could donate the most items. Both plants donated many non-perishable food items such as canned and boxed foods, peanut butter, jelly, baby food, etc., but team McDivitt beat Team Morrill by a whopping 194 items! Better luck next time, Team Morrill!

Team McDivitt Rd.’s Donations

Helping our CommunityI would like to thank all those who gave so generously to our community during our Thanksgiving and Christmas food drive at both facilities. It was a great success and benefit for those that need support during the holidays.

Not everyone who received our help are people that do not want to work. We have many elderly people on limited incomes and disabled individuals who may have to choose to pay their rent or heating bills over buying food. Also don’t forget the children who are the helpless ones that are unable to do for themselves.

Again, thank you so much for your contributions.

New Quality Lab

Submitted by Scott Halstead, VP of Aerospace Business Unit at James McDivitt Rd.

A new Quality Lab was built at our James McDivitt Rd. location over the past year. Pictured above left, the Zeiss CMM was moved into our new Quality Assurance Department’s 18x25 foot building. The entire quality through put process will be improved with the new surroundings and layout. A new shop desk and Value Stream Manager’s station is also attached to the rear of the new Quality Department which will drastically help with the tooling and kitting process flow between the tool crib and the quality department on through to the shop floor. We are very proud and appreciative of this new space.

20+ Anniversary ClubBob Renfer celebrates his 24th year with

Advance Turning on Feb. 28th.Congratulations Bob!IRS announces 2013 HSA limits

The IRS has announced adjustments that affect health savings accounts in 2013.

The HSA contribution limits and high deductible health plan out-of-pocket maximums are up slightly over 2012. For the first time in years, the HDHP minimum required deductibles have increased.

HSAs are tax-exempt accounts that help people save money for eligible medical expenses. In order to qualify for an HSA, the policyholder must be enrolled in an HSA-qualified high deductible health plan, and must not be covered by other non-HDHP health insurance or Medicare, and cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.

HSA contribution limits:• Individuals (self-only coverage) - $3,250 (up $150 from 2012)• Family coverage - $6,450 (up $200 from 2012)

HDHP minimum required deductible:• $1,250 for self-only coverage• $2,500 for family coverage

Out-of-pocket Maximum:(Out of pocket expense included deductibles, co-payments, and other amounts, but not premiums.)• $6,250 for self-only coverage• $12,500 for family coverage

Under the guidelines implemented in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, over-the-counter drugs may only be reimbursed if they have a prescription. If a policyholder uses an HSA to pay for items or services that aren’t qualified medical expenses, the tax penalty is 20 percent of the HSA distribution.
