Approach

A total of 5,024 surveys were carried out between 28 September and 9 November 2012

Surveys were undertaken in street and in home, with a sample designed to achieve robust data, accurate to +/-5% within each neighbourhood partnership area

Slides in this presentation show graphs of the most recent results for Portobello and Craigmillar, shown against a table of historic data. In all cases the tables show the percentage of residents who "agree" with a statement or who are "satisfied" with a service

Significant differences are reported at the 95% confidence level and are denoted by:

Result shows a significant positive trend over five years

Result is significantly lower than the average for the whole city

Result shows a significant negative trend over five years

No data is available for this period as the question was not asked

Result is significantly higher than the average for the whole city

Question was previously asked in a way that only allows city-wide figures to be fairly tracked over time.

To what extent are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way the Council is managing the city? Why do you say this? Following on from this, respondents were asked for their reasons why they were satisfied or

dissatisfied with the way the Council is managing the city. The top reasons given by respondents who were satisfied (n=328) were: Never had any problems/ no issues/ no complaints (32%) Nice place to live/ good place to live/ good city (26%) Happy with services/ good services (18%)

Only 1 Portobello and Craigmillar respondent was dissatisfied with the way the Council is managing the city and this individual was dissatisfied with housing.

To what extent are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way the Council is managing your neighbourhood? Why do you say this? Following on from this, respondents were asked why they were satisfied or dissatisfied with

the way the Council is managing their neighbourhood. The three main reasons given by respondents who were satisfied (n=373) were: No complaints/ Do a good job (45%) Nice place to live/ quiet area/ clean area/ enjoy living here (32%) Council doing their best/ good services (14%)

Only 1 Portobello and Craigmillar respondents was dissatisfied with the way the Council is managing their neighbourhood and this respondent said they wanted more from the Council.
