June 15-19, 2015
Center for
Economic Education
Comments from past campers:
"I hope you have another economics
camp next year!"
“It was very fun to learn about the new
economic terms.”
"This camp makes economics come alive!”
Comments from parents:
"We are impressed that you have put this
together. It is very valuable, you have obviously
put a lot of thought, planning and coordination
into the camp."
"Most valuable is that she learned economic
terms and concepts and how to make wise saving
and spending decisions."
"She would come home using words like "awesome", "so cool", "great" and "wonderful" to describe her days at econ camp. Subject area connections (entertainment, sports etc.) were
excellent choices for students of this age."

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is an equal opportunity educator and employer with a comprehensive plan for diversity.
The ‘Economics is Everywhere!’ day camp for middle level students, grades post 6 to post 8, is the first camp of its kind in Nebraska. Originally founded in 2004, students journey into the exciting world of economics as it relates to money, entertainment, government, sports, and the global economy.
The five day event is hosted by the UNL Center for Economic Education and will be held on the UNL city campus, College of Business Administration from 9am to 4pm daily. Supervised, drop off and pick up on 12th and R streets will be provided. The UNL downtown campus serves as a convenient launching pad to visit local businesses. Each of the five, fun-filled days will include a variety of activities, speakers and fieldtrips.
Participants will investigate how money is earned, spent, and saved. To add an aspect of reality to the camp, the students will earn, spend and save the camp’s own currency called "Eco-Bucks.” Campers will be on the move, visiting the Grand Theatre, the State Capital, City Hall, and Memorial Stadium. Business people from the community visit the camp to give first hand viewpoints of everyday economics.
COST?
The cost for the week long day camp is $225 which includes all snacks, materials, supervised lunch and a t-shirt. Please send in your payment by check payable to the UNL Center for Economic Education with the enclosed registration form by May 15.

The economic issues at the local, state and national levels are the topics for this day. Students will discuss taxes and the decisions made by our elected officials as they use a public service (the city bus)
to visit with local and state officials. They will also go on an economics scavenger hunt as we tour the state Capitol and we will learn what “flag-onomics” is all about!
Thursday: “McDonald’s in Moscow!”
What role do you and I play in the glob-al economy? What are the benefits of trading goods and services with other countries? These questions and more will be addressed on this day as students visit a lo-cal international business.
Friday: “Husker-Nomics!”
Have you ever thought of sports as a business? What economic decisions do student athletes make? This final day will wrap up the week and includes a visit to Memorial Stadium and the Husk-
