ECKANKAR Terms Chela-(CHEE-lah)- A student, disciple, or follower of the Eckankar spiritual leader Consciousness– The state of being in which the individual lives daily. ECK - The Life Force, the Holy Spirit, which sustains all life. It can be experienced as the Light and Sound of God. Faith– The keystone of all spiritual life, belief, acceptance, and confidence in his spiritual works as the way to God. ECKANKAR -(EHK-ahn-kahr)- Religion of the Light and Sound of God. It is a spiritual teaching that leads Soul back to God. HU - (hue)- A sacred name for God which can be sung as a love song to God. It can open the heart to di-vine love. Inner World– The subjective relationship of man with the invisible planes. Karma– The Law of Cause and Effect, action and reason, justice, retribution, and reward, which applies to the lower or Psychic Worlds. Light– The reflection of the spiritual atoms moving in space, as the ECK, the Manifestation of the SUG-MAD in the Lower Worlds, flows from the Sugmad into them and returns Living ECK Master - The title of the spiritual leader of Eckankar. His mission is to lead Soul back home to God. Love– The adhesive force that holds everything together. Mahanta - ( mah-HAHN-tah) A title to describe the highest state of God Consciousness on earth, often em-bodied in the Living ECK Master of the time. The Living Word. An expression of the spirit of God that is always with you. Soul - The True Self. The inner, most sacred part of each person. It is eternal. Satsang- (SAHT-sahng) -Union with that which is pure and imperishable; sat means “true or “unchangeable,” sang means “union,” the coming in contact of man with the Living ECK Master; study of the works of ECK The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad -(SHAH-ree-aht-kee-SOOG-mahd) Way of the Eternal; the holy scriptures of ECK. Soul Travel– Movement of the inner Consciousness, which travels through the lower states until it ascends into the ecstatic state ( the Awareness of the religious experience of beings) Sound– The sound of the spiritual atoms moving in space, as the ECK, the Manifestation of the SUGMAD in the Lower Worlds Sri– A title of spiritual respect Sugmad– God.
