    Message o 25 March 2012:

Dear Children, Also today, with joy,I desire giving you my motherly blessingand calling you to prayer. May prayerbecome a need or you, that you maygrow more in holiness every day. Workmore on your conversion because you arear away, my children. hank you orresponding to my call.

    Prayer and Conversion

he senseless man does not know, a ool

would not understand, warns a verse oPsalm 92 (91), and thus is the man who liveswithout God, the man who suices orhimsel. Science and technology haveattained unimaginable successes; medicinehas made incredible progress; and i humanknowledge has expanded, man's wisdomdoesn't seem to have ollowed suit. We haveseen Marxism all, only to be replaced byanother ideology that has spread even more, and it is called consumerism! Withconsumerism everything is thought o in theorder o producing and consuming, and allis subject to these deity, complementary anduniversal, as is wanted by the religion o

globalization. Where is the man made inthe image o God; the Christian who bearsthe Name o Jesus to be in Him the child othe Father?

May prayer become a need for you, thatyou may grow more in holiness every day.Our consumeristic society induces manyneeds in us, but never does it call us toholiness; yet it alone can really change ourlie and that o the others on this earth andor eternity. Man's real need, his daily need,is prayer. Each man is called to ulil theimage he bears within himsel, which is tobe holy. his, in short, is conversion. Holinessisn't alienation, or it can't be separated rom

man or his human nature, which is ratherenhanced by it to the point o man'sdivinization as revealed and made possibleby the Lord.

Prayer and conversion go hand in hand.Far rom being activities that one perormsonce and or all, they require our renewedconsent and acceptance. hey are rules olie that are nourished by the Sacramentsand the Word o God: Repent and believe theGospel(Mk 1:15). Conversion is embodiedin our interpersonal relationships; itinspires our daily choices and decisions, itilluminates our expectations and hopes; itcomorts our suering and heals ourwounds. Conversion is knowing Christbetter, and making room in our heart orHis growing presence in us.

We need to wake rom our sleep, romthe torpor o death that lurks beneath ashowy and apparent eiciency. 'is Easter.Let us rise again in Christ!

    Message, 2 April 2012 (Mirjana):

"Dear Children, As the Queen o Peace,I desire giving peace to you, my children, true peace which comes through the he-

art o my Divine Son. As a mother I praythat wisdom, humility and goodness maycome to reign in your hearts; that peacemay reign; that my Son may reign. Whenmy Son will be the King in your hearts, youwill be able to help others come to knowhim. When heavenly peace comes to ruleover you, those who are seeking it in thewrong places, thus causing pain to my mo-therly heart, will recognise it. My children, great will be my joy when I see that you areaccepting my words and that you desireollowing me. Do not be araid, you are notalone. Give me your hands and I will leadyou. Do not orget your pastors. Pray that

in their thoughts they may always be withmy Son who called them to witness him.hank you."

When my Son will be King in your heart

Mary's goal is conversion; that theheart might have as its King Christ Jesus! We cannot bring others to know Jesus byspeaking about Him, or even worse, byspeaking in His Name! I He does not livein us, i His Light does not shine in us, i ourhearts do not beat with His own heartbeats, then what could we be witnesses to?

I the Gospel is not leaven or our lives;i peace or us is mere absence o war; i

love is not a synonym or sel-denial andsacrifce; i hypocrisy prevails over truth...then how can we call ourselves Christian?I all o us who believe in Mary's presenceat Medjugorje had truly ollowed her calls, our lives and the lives o those near to uswould have radically changed. Have mercyon us, Mother, and stay with us!

    Message o 25 April 2012:

"Dear Children, Also today I call youto prayer, and to open up your heart toGod; open your heart, my Children,as a lower does to the sun's warmth. Iam with you and I intercede or you all.hank you or responding to my call."

Words of Old for a New Life

In a world always on the look-out for news, whereyesterday's news is long forgotten, why do Mary'smessages attract us, if they are repetitive and seem

so similar? Even though many tire and move away, there are others, even more numerous, who come toMedjugorje. In fact, the number of pilgrims present atMedjugorje continues to grow. Why would this be?

We do not know if a single reply could be trulysatisfatory, and much could be said on the subject. However, in our opinion, it is because Mary'sWork at Medjugorje is much more than a publicmanifestation; and that is why her call so attracts us.It is the encounter of a Mother with her children; evenmore so: with each one of us, singularly. Mary comesto Medjugorje to speak to you and to me, to meet youand me... and to draw us into her Son (cf. Jn 19:27).

    What Our Lady says might always be the same;

but her words must be the same for each chi ld, and foreach generation. Nothing else could be said, and it isup to each of us to put her call, her suggestions, intopractice. What Our Lady says is fundamental forour life; and fundamentals are always few and precise. They cannot change according to circumstances ortimes since they do not depend on these; they residein the relationship between man and God, betweencreature and Creator. This relationship is absolutelynecessary for our life of faith, which can be realized ina thousand different ways, but is always founded on afew, clear principles valid for all.

Our Blessed Mother calls us to listen to theWord, to a sacramental life, to prayer, to fasting,

to communion with God and with our brethren. Shecalls us to conversion and to surrender ourselves toGod, and to do it all with the heart. It is up to us torespond, to try out her suggestions, to rediscover theimportance of the sacraments... So, the fundamentalwords are the same, but each of us embodies themin an original way. No one's life coincides with thatof another. Just as Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and always(Heb 13:8), so must that which drawsus into Him be the same yesterday, today and always;and be the same for me and for each other personin the world. There is one treatment for holiness(and how many times has Our Mother called us tobe holy!), but the response is always personal: we canaccept or refuse, respect or neglect the treatment.

Today, Our Mother renews her call toprayer and to open up the heart to God, as aflower does to the sun's warmth. This is notjust poetry. Instead it clearly indicates how wecannot blossom without Him.

    Feast o the AnnunciationMonday 26 March 2012

From the homily at Mass, in Cuba

Te Incarnation o the Son o God isthe central mystery o the Christian aith, and in it Mary occupies a central place. But, we ask, what is the meaning o thismystery? And, what importance does it

have or our concrete lives?First, let us see what the Incarnationmeans. In the Gospel o St Luke we heardthe angel's words to Mary: Te Holy Spiritwill come upon you, and the power o theMost High will overshadow you; thereorethe child to be born will be called holy, theSon o God (Lk 1:35). In Mary, the Son oGod is made man, ulfll ing in this way theprophecy o Isaiah: Behold, a young womanshall conceive and bear a son, and shall callhis name Immanuel, which means God-with-us (Is 7:14). Jesus, the Word madeesh, is truly God-with-us, come to live inour midst and share our human condition.

Saint John expresses it in the ollowingway: And the Word became fesh and dweltamong us(Jn 1:14). Te expression, becamefesh points to our human reality in mostconcrete and tangible way. In Christ, Godhas truly come into the world, he hasentered into our history, set his dwellingamong us, thus ulflling man's deepestdesire that the world may truly become ahome worthy o humanity. On the otherhand, when God is put aside, the worldbecomes an inhospitable place or man,and rustrates creations true vocation tobe a space or the covenant, or the Yesto the love between God and humanity who

responds to him. Mary did so as the frst

    The Holy Father, Benedict XVI

ruit o believers with her unreserved Yesto the Lord.

    For this reason, contemplating the

mystery o the Incarnation, we cannot ailto turn our eyes to her so as to be flled withwonder, gratitude and love at seeing howour God, coming into the world, wishedto depend upon the ree consent o one ohis creatures. Only rom the moment whenthe Virgin responded to the angel, Behold,I am the handmaid o the Lord; let it be tome according to your word(Lk 1:38), did theeternal Word o the Father began his humanexistence in time. It is touching to see howGod not only respects human reedom: healmost seems to require it. And we see alsohow the beginning o the earthly l ie o theSon o God was marked by a double Yes

to the saving plan o the Father - that o

Christ and that o Mary. Tis obedience toGod is what opens the doors o the worldto the truth, to salvation. God has createdus as the ruit o his infnite love; hence, tolive in accordance with his will is the wayto encounter our genuine identity, the trutho our being, while apart rom God we arealienated rom ourselves and are hurledinto the void.

Te obedience o aith is true liberty, authentic redemption, which allows us tounite ourselves to the love o Jesus in hisdetermination to conorm himsel to thewill o the Father. Redemption is alwaysthis process o the liing up o the humanwill to ul l communion with the divine will(c. LectioDivina with parish priests, Rome,18-02-10). (...) Te Church, the living bodyo Christ, has the mission o prolongingon earth the salvifc presence o God, oopening the world to something greaterthan itsel, to the love and the light o God.

It is worth the efort, dear brothers andsisters, to devote your entire lie to Christ,

to grow in his riendship each day and toeel called to proclaim the beauty and thegoodness o his lie to every person, to allour brothers and sisters. I encourage youin this task osowing the word o God inthe world and oering to everyone the truenourishment o the body o Christ. (...) Maywe accept with patience and aith whateveropposition or a iction may come, with theconviction that, in his Resurrection, he hascrushed the power o evil which darkenseverything, and has brought the dawn oa new world, the world o God, o light, otruth and happiness. Te Lord will not ailto bless with abundant ruits the generosity

    o your commitment. www.vatican.va/

DIVINE MERCYin the Heart of the Church.

John Paul II in Krakow..."Here I have come to this shrine

as a pilgrim to take part in theunending hymn in honour of DivineMercy. ... There is nothing that man

needs more than Divine Mercy-that love which is benevolent, which is com-passionate, which raises man above his weakness tothe infinite heights of the holiness of God. In this

place we become particularly aware of this. Fromhere, in fact, went out the Message of Divine Mercythat Christ himself chose to pass on to our generationthrough Blessed Faustina. ... Anyone can come here, look at this picture of the Merciful Jesus, his Heartradiating grace, and hear in the depths of his ownsoul what Blessed Faustina heard: Fear nothing. Iam with you always (Diary, q. II). And if this personresponds with a sincere heart: Jesus, I trust in you!,he will find comfort in all his anxieties and fears.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts outfear(1 Jn 4:18). The Church re-reads the Message ofMercy in order to bring with greater effectivenessto this generation at the end of the Millennium andto future generations the light of hope. Unceasingly

the Church implores from God mercy for everyone."At no time and in no historical period especiallyat a moment as critical as our own can the Churchforget the prayer that is a cry for the mercy of Godamid the many forms of evil which weigh uponhumanity and threaten it... The more the humanconscience succumbs to secularization, loses itssense of the very meaning of the word 'mercy',

moves away from God and distances itself from themystery of mercy, the more the Church has the rightand the duty to appeal to the God of mercy 'withloud cries'." (Dives in Misericordia, 15)... I comehere to commend the concerns of the Church and ofhumanity to the merciful Christ.

Jesus, I trust in You! The Message of DivineMercy has always been near and dear to me. It is asif history had inscribed it in the tragic experienceof WWII. In those difficult years it was a particularsupport and an inexhaustible source of hope, notonly for the people of Krakow but for the entirenation. This was also my personal experience, which I took with me to the See of Peter and whichin a sense forms the image of this Pontificate. Igive thanks to Divine Providence that I have beenenabled to contribute personally to the fulfilmentof Christ's will, through the institution of the Feastof Divine Mercy. ... I pray unceasingly that God willhave mercy on us and the whole world. "

Homily by John Paul II, 7 June 1997

... and Benedict XVI in Rome:

At the Regina Cli prayer (15-04-12) BenedictXVI recalled a message proclaimed by John Paul II:"I cordially greet all ... those who are taking part inthe liturgical celebrations of Divine Mercy Sunday

at the Shrine of agiewniki. It was there that 10years ago Bl. John Paul II said: 'This fire of mercyneeds to be passed on to the world. In the mercy ofGod the world will find peace and mankind will findhappiness! I entrust this task... to all the devotees ofDivine Mercy.' Faithful to this exhortation, let usproclaim to the world the Message of the mercifulJesus, let us be his witnesses."

Blessed John Paul II on Medjugorje:"If I weren't Pope, I'd already be in Medjugorje"

John Paul II was beatified on May 1st a year ago. Forthe occasion we offer an excerpt from a book ("Perch Santo") by the postulator for his cause, Msgr. SawomirOder, which reports many examples of JP's privatelyexpressed convictions on the reality of Medjugorje:

"To Msgr. Sebastian Krieger, archbishop ofFlorianopolis in Brazil, John Paul II said:Medjugorje isthe spiritual centre of the world! In 1987, during a brieftalk, he confided to the visionary, Mirjana Dragicevic:If I weren't Pope, I would already be in Medjugorje

confessing.Even more eloquent... are the words writtenby the bishop of San Angelo (Texas), Msgr. M. D. Pfeifer,in the pastoral letter to the Diocese of 5 August 1988:'During my ad limina visit, in a private conversationwith the Holy Father, I asked him what he thoughtof Medjugorje. The Pope spoke very favourably, andsaid: To say that at Medjugorje nothing significanthappens is to deny the living and prayerful testimonyof thousands of persons who've been there.

Archbishop Pavel Hnil ica from Slovakia (one of hisclosest friends) recalls that on 26 March 1984 he hadgone to lunch with John Paul II to report on his secretmission to Moscow, which was to secretly celebrate aMass within the walls of the Kremlin. The Pope asked:

Pavel, did you pass through Medjugorje on your wayback? to which Mons. Hnilica' replied negatively. ThePope then said: Then go incognito, and come to tell mewhat you see. And the Pope took him into his privatelibrary and showed him a book by Fr. Ren Laurentinwhich reported some of the messages by the Queen ofPeace, commenting:Medjugorje is the continuaton ofFatima, the realization of Fatima."

    MEDJUGORJEEaster in Medjugorje

On Easter Sunday, at the Italian Massin Medjugorje, the homily was delivered byFather Hernan Portillo Gonzlez. We havetranscribed it, and we oer you an excerpt.

"(...) he Lord has done a marvellousexchange with us. With his lie he saved usrom death, and with his death, he restored

us to lie. Here I am talking to you today...and I am not just a priest rom Venezuela,or I am also a risen man. I was a streetchild in Venezuala. I know what it meansto experience hunger, to live amidst gun ire, prostitution and drugs; but the Lord hasgiven me new lie.

I ound a priest - rather, he ound me,and he likes to say that he ound me in themud and transplanted me into a garden.his priest distingues between povertyand misery. He says that misery is a littleshack with lots o conusion within; whilepoverty is a person with the same shackwho lives with dignity and cleanliness.

A priest came to my little shack - withoutlooring and made entirely o aluminium,it was like an oven - and he ound a motherwho had taught me to pray, and who prayedthe Rosary with me.

A priest came to that extremely poorpart o Venezuela and he placed me in aninstitute which he had ounded or streetchildren. It was there that I discovered thepriestly vocation, or I would ask myselwhy this priest would give his lie or me ithere wasn't any bond o blood between us.I gradually realized that the bond is not justo blood, but also o spirit, because we arenot citizens o this world. Simply put, we areall on pilgrimage or the true Homeland, which is Heaven.

I wasn't only a street child, or I am also adead man walking. his is the seventh timeI come here to Medjugorje. I came to thankOur Lady or saving me rom three seriousroad accidents. I'll tell you only about one.We were in the mountains o Venezuela at3200 metres a.s.l. In a curve the car's brakesailed and we ound ourselves over a void. Icould eel my stomach in my throat. hen,it was as though time had stopped, and Icould see wonderul lights and colours, and I could smell perumes I had never

beore smelt, and my lie passed beore meas though in a ilm, stopping whenever Ineeded to ask orgiveness o the Lord or mysins, my misery, my weaknesses.

I must have had a wee lack o aithbecause I said: Lord, i this is my day I amsorry or my mother who will not understand, and you know how much we have suered.Grant me the chance to go back. And thentime came back; we were alling, but a strongwind picked up the car and pushed it intothe side o the mountain. hey pulled usout with chains; they had to break open thedoors o the car. My legs were shaking, but Iwanted to open my eyes because I could eelsomething on my ace, and I imagined it tobe blood. But I was surprised; and it mademe laugh when I realized it was the eggsrom the back o the car that had allen ontous as the car was alling. I didn't even have asingle drop o blood on me. (...)

Let us bless the Lord because today he

restores lie to us; heorgives us; he consolesus! And we can say:Lord, you make me walkabove the mountainsand the storms o lie.

Dear riends, let'sseek the things which are above, whereChrist is seated at the right hand o God.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth, becauseeverything passes. he only thing that no onecan rip rom your heart is your opportunityto love, to be loved, and to bring love tothose in need o consolation, o a word ocomort. (...)

May our prayer o resurrection be:Mother, as a babe in your arms I wouldlike to sleep, and listen to your Heart thatbeats for me.I love you immensely becauseyou orgive me and orget the day I was atraitor. Amen."

    MARIJA IN LEBANON

On the 10th and 11th March, at Beirutand Karantina, Marija prayed and spokebefore 60,000 people from the variousreligions present in Lebanon. Of itself it isan exceptional event in a land that has beenso stained by the blood of divisions betweenChristians and Muslims.

On both days, during the Rosary, Marijareceived Our Lady's apparition in front ofthe crowds. Marija presented the entireLebanese population to Our Lady, askingher to bless them and their dear ones. OnSunday, Marija asked Our Lady if there wasanything she wanted to say to the people ofLebanon, and Our Lady said, Do not forgetthat I am your mother, and that I love you!A beautiful return to the essential!

Chiara has cancer. She arrived in Januaryfrom the States, together with her family.During the meeting we had with her, herjoy and serenity were more than evident. She joked and assured all present with herpositive spirit. Then she said to me withgreat simplicity: "Jesus will decide for me,and I know he will make the right decision.

On my part, I trust Him, for I am happywhether I am healed or not."

Chiara met Vicka, and Vicka prayed forher. Chiara told her: "I am not afraid to die.Whether I live or I die, I still win." Vickareplied, "You are right; there is no need to beafraid." Her father said to us: "I realize thatChiara didn't need to come to Medjugorje, for her heart was already at peace. We, herfamily, needed to come here! Here, we havefound peace."

    ON PILGRIMAGE ...

Alexandra of Mantua, Italy, was recentlyin Medjugorje. Following is her testimony:

After my pilgrimage to Medjugorje Ibegan seeing things differently, including myrelationship with others. My ability to lovebroadened, and I've become more patient, more readily understanding of others,

especially with what I previously saw asweaknesses and differences of opinion orways of living that I had difficulty accepting. Now I see everything under a new light.

For a while I've been feeling very happy, and I have an inner serenity that makes mefeel in harmony with everything around me.And I manage to keep this with me whereverI go, especially where I work. This has helpedme adjust some relationships with certainco-workers that weren't the best. Now I havea different vision, and I am able to acceptthem despite certain choices and behaviourof theirs that I had previously judged to beincorrect.

Now that I feel 'protected' and serene,I've lost the fear of negative impact that someof their behaviour could have had on me.Everything has become more harmonious, and this allows me to live the very beautifulexperience of sharing what I have received.

I had brought back with me some smallsouvenirs from Medjugorje for some ofmy colleagues, and I noticed with pleasure

that this made them happy; perhaps it wasthe act of love, moreso than the souvenirsthemselves, that gave them joy. In any case,I also noticed that other colleagues, whom Ihad not thought of, also would have desiredreceiving the same gift. So I photocopiedsome of Our Lady's messages, and offeredthese, together with other small souvenirsthat I had bought on previous pilgrimages,to the other colleagues. In my heart I seemedto perceive the approval of Our Lady andLord who desire reaching out to everyone. There were even some who are far from thefaith, who I wouldn't have expected wouldcare to receive my little gift, but who showed

to appreciate it quite a bit; and this made mesee the good that is in them. This experienceis still bearing fruit. It has allowed meto come closer to colleagues with whom Iwasn't particularly close. These, however, have asked me to pray for them, and this hasmade me see how people are very much inneed of the Lord's unreserved love.

The whole experience has been verypositive for me, relieving me, as it were, ofboth mental and physical fatigue that usuallyaccompany our daily living. All is back tonormal now, and I remain in good relationswith my colleagues. I'm sure this will bear

    new fruits. Alessandra Zampieri

first to feel the full force of this. We urgedthem to go to Medjugorje as soon as possible aswe were anxious Our Lady would stop comingand they would miss out. They too came homechanged by their Medjugorje experience. Theirresponse to Our Ladys call has been and stillis a constant witness to me, a real example ofwhat it means to give your heart to Our BlessedMother. Because so few people from the UKhad been to Medjugorje at that time, we foundourselves initially busy, writing articles, giving

talks and answering hundreds of letters frompeople wanting to know more.My parents ran Craig Lodge, our family

home, as a guest house. They began invitinggroups to come and stay for weekends of prayerand reflection on Our Ladys messages. Asthese retreats attracted increasing numbers ofpeople, my parents felt God was asking morefrom them. They decided to turn their guesthouse over to Him completely and open it as aretreat centre.

Their decision caused great concern amongwell-meaning friends and family who thoughtthey had taken leave of their senses to risk their

home and livelihood in this way. They werenot deterred and trusted God would providewhat was needed to keep going. He has done

just that. As I write this we are in the midstof preparing for an Under 15s Youth Retreatweekend here at Craig Lodge Family Houseof Prayer, the first in a whole programmeof retreats and events that will take us up toAdvent. Some are designed for families, andyoung people and others cover topics such as:healing, the Eucharist, Scripture and the newevangelisation.

Soon after they had taken the step to runCraig Lodge as a retreat centre, my parentsinvited a group of young people to comeand form a community based on living outthe messages of Medjugorje through prayer, service and evangelisation. Twelve years onthat little group has grown into Craig LodgeCommunity, a thriving mix of families andsingle people who have chosen to live near toCraig Lodge and join in the way of life, my ownfamily among them.

We still welcome young people who comeand live here for a year in order to deepen anewly-discovered faith or to discern a vocationand we have had the joy of seeing formermembers going on to enter religious life.Together we look after the guests who come

here on retreat. Community life is a schoolthat teaches us so much.

Despite our differences in personality andbackgrounds we are united by a common desireto answer Our Ladys call and to help each otherlive her messages as a means of growing inholiness. Our daily life includes the Eucharist,Adoration, Scripture, Divine Office and theRosary. We live out Community in honour ofOur Lady Queen of Peace and we look forwardto see where she will lead us next!

    www.craiglodge.org

Craig Lodge is also home to the charity,

Marys Meals. In 1992 Yugoslavia was engulfedin war. Two of my brothers, Fergus andMagnus decided that they had to do somethingto help. We started appealing for food andblankets and before long they were on their wayto Medjugorje as part of an aid convoy. Theydelivered the aid to the refugees and flew homeexpecting to resume their jobs as fish farmers.

    PRAYING WITH THE SAINTS

The Cur of Ars, St. John Vianney, encouraged the faithful to pray thus:

"I pray to you, Blessed Mother of God: forthe immeasurable suffering that the passion anddeath of your Divine Son caused you, and for thebitter tears you shed, offer up to the Father on our

behalf the Holy Body, wounded and bleeding, ofour Divine Redeemer, united to your own tearsand sorrow, for the salvation of souls and for thegrace that I now implore (...)."

Add the following prayer, repeating it threetimes: "Jesus and Mary, I love you, save priestlysouls, save souls."

However during the two weeks they had beenaway, the donations had continued to pour in.The sheds around Craig Lodge were stackedfull and the Community spent every sparemoment packing and sorting. Faced withthis astonishing generosity, Magnus decidedto take a year out to drive the aid to Bosnia foras long as people continued giving. Peoplekept on giving. Today the charity is knownasMarys Meals in honour of Our Lady andthrough the school feeding movement over

He then relected onverse 21 o the parallel text (Mt 17:14-21) tobring to light the close bond between theLord's words and Mary's insistent call toprayer and asting, which are two o thepillars o the Medjugorje "school". In act, many agree that it is Medjugorje that hasrevived the sense o prayer and astingamongst the aithul and the Church.

Every leader and organizer needs tobe aware o the deep bond between theGospel, the Church and Medjugorje; andthey need to encourage pilgrims to seekanswers to their questions or doubts inthe encounter with the Living God, with

His Word and with the Sacraments. Andurthermore, they need to be encourged tostrengthen their aith through prayer andasting. Paula omi

Medjugorje: the position of the Holy SeeThe Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone,

in reference to Medjugorje, declared: "The declarationsmade by the Bishop of Mostar are personal opinions;they are not the definitive and official judgement of theChurch." This declaration silences all those who use theBishop of Mostar's statements to attack Medjugorje inthe name of the Church. Furthermore, this positionof the Holy See was recently ratified in a summaryby Cardinal Bertone in his book entitled, "L'UltimaVeggente di Fatima"; a book which the Pope, HisHoliness Benedict XVI, wanted to validate by personallywriting a preface for it.
