TRIBALL

http://www.triballmadrid.com/s.asp

TriBall, the nickname given to the neighbourhood Triángulo de Ballesta, is

a previously ran down area in the centre of Madrid which has recently been

regenerating through the efforts of an independent commerce association.

Making use of the area’s strategic advantages, such as it’s location, accessibility

and atmosphere the association aims for TriBall to become the representative

of Madrid’s most avant garde culture, much in the same way as Soho does in

London and Montmartre in Paris.

Whilst keeping the traditionalism of the neighbourhood alive, the association

invests in all kinds of businesses that reflect modern values such as sustainability,

creativity and innovation. It therefore combines businesses such as family run

ibérico shops and restaurants, with high fashion boutiques and innovative

coworking spaces.

UTOPIC_US

For instance, they run an online networking and collaborating platform that

allows current and previous clients to stay in touch and work together even after

leaving Utopic_US. Born from their founders necessity for new work practice and

workspace, they are a leading example in this city of the new economy.

ESPIRITU23

http://espir itu23.com/coworking/

Espíritu 23 is a coworking space, understood in a uniquely broad perspective. It’s

services are offered to freelancers and sme’s in need for a space for anything.

And anything means anything, as besides fix and flex working spaces, it includes

a few multipurpose rooms that are used for anything ranging from performing

arts to corporate events.

how they can best accommodate their needs. This spirit, is very representative of

LA BICICLETA COWORKING

La Bicicleta is an odd initiative that combines a café, with a cycling shop and a

coworking space. It is not so much an incubator coworking industry, as more of a

café specialized in offering infrastructure to modern day coworking professionals.

Founded by experienced, café inhabiting freelancers, attention has been paid to

such details as an availability of universal chargers, to the size of tables or the

presence of lockable desk drawers just in case one needs to leave for the toilet.

As a cycling café, it is also a home base for cyclists in Madrid where you can meet

and start activities together, as well as service your bike.

All in all a strange, but endearing and surprisingly effective combination of foci.

this creative behemoth, whilst it promotes their ideals of collective, public,

transformational interventions.

Located within an abandoned tobacco factory turned cultural heritage site, this

organization is unique in that it functions as a collective, having no director or

obvious leading figures, no outside financing and no profit motives. It lives and

breathes because of each of it’s active members.
