Kirlene Cattle

Autumn Prestige - 1 - 2012 Charolais Sale

This is Kirlene Cattle's 15th year in the Purebred business. We are honoured to be a part of theCharolais cattle industry. Over the past few years we have come to cherish the friendships andbusiness partners we have worked beside at the many fairs, meetings and sales Kirlene Cattle hasbeen involved in.

Kirlene Cattle continues to make breeding selections that would benefit its buyers and home herdwith improvements in calving ease, performance, and eye appeal without giving up milk and maternal qualities. We believe Kirlene Cattle has acheived this again for the 2012 year.

Potter Charolais are located 600 kms straight north of Toronto in the Little Claybelt farming regionaround New Liskeard, Ontario. Our focus remains easy calving performance cattle for our local bullmarket. The cow herd is anchored by some wonderfully uddered females out of Rio Blanco, greathair coats from Sparrows Vintage, and the performance and style of Havana.

We are a family operation. Our two girls, Emily and Sally will be showing at the National JuniorHeifer show at the Royal as part of Temiskaming District. Wyatt has retired from hockey this year, and is a tremendous help with the cropping operation.

A Note from Potter Charolais...

A horned Havana daughter carrying the muscle of her maternal grand sire, Caids Eclair. The Havana females aremoderately framed, profile well, and are great mothers.

We are consigning three bred heifers out of our Herdbull, GoldenMeadow Winner. What an opportunity to start a herd, or addsome consistency on your farm. The Winner calves have beenborn easy, and are very eye appealing. The dam of this heifer goesback to Vintage, who provides excellent hair coats on his calves.

Pretty as a picture, this Winner daughter combines style, muscle and balanced EPDs. Put a front pasture heifer in yourfield today. This is a main street type lady. Two siblings bullsare working in commercial herds in Quebec. A sister was featured in our Northern Showcase sale in 2009. Her mother isanother great uddered Blanco daughter.

The youngest of our consigned Winner bred heifers, but withthe most growth and frame. In the top 15 % for weaning, yearling and milk. Plus easy calving. This heifer combineseverything we have tried to select for. She goes back on thedam’s side to our Karla cow family. This heifer exudes a finebouquet, and will continue to get better each year.

Windyview Zippy is a heifer that pops out from the herd she has awonderful profile and excellent thickness. We love her for a showchoice and hope she'll find a place in your herd as such or as top producing replacement heifer.

We are pleased to offer what we think is an excellent choice for aherdsire. This powerful bull is presented to us from our red factoredherdsire and displays excellent breeding qualities and focus on thegoals we at Windyview Farm are so proud of.

When a Charolais heifer was purchased in 1971 this would be the start of what we now all knowtoday as Windyview Farm. The goals at Windyview Farm are to raise quality, show ready Charolais, that are easy to keep and easy to handle. The lots we’ve selected for this years sale exemplify the goalslaid out and we hope you too, the bidders and buyers, have these goals in common. This year bringsus the first crop of calves from our new red factored herdsire which we’ve carefully selected from. Weare also pleased to round off our offerings with a heifer from our AI program. We hope you can find aplace for these select animals in your herd and make use of some of Windyview Farm’s very best qual-ity animals.

We would also like to mention that we understand in parts of Ontario the growing conditions havebeen less than ideal this past year, and if necessary, we would be happy to negotiate winter feedingand stabling of your purchased animal.

Autumn Prestige - 11 - 2012 Charolais Sale

At Land O' Lakes, we believe we have an excellent offering again this year. It is the result of many yearsof selective breeding using the best A.I. and natural sires available to us.We have always focused on performance and continue to do so. In 2007, we produced the top bull allbreeds in the Beef Builder Economic Index. We have been able to really expand the influence of the maternal lines by using embryo transplants to increase the female base and by selecting sons from our topdonor cows for natural use.

This year we chose to use in our breeding program SVY KABOOM PLD 7113T. A Kaboom heifercalf was National Junior Heifer Calf Champion and high selling heifer calf in the National Sale last fall.We also chose for our breeding program, TR PZC MR TURTON 0794 ET, the U.S. National Champion out of TR MR FIRE WATER 5792R ET and THOMAS MS IMPRESSIVE 0641.

This girl is from our showstring. here is a fancy heifer who is very eyeappealing. She is thick and has depth and length. 4H'ers come takea look at this fancy girl.

We have been here on our “hill top” for 39 years. When we began farming we raised hereford/ holsteincross females, bred to good charolais bulls. The sale barn buyers liked our tan cross calves. We also fattened steers. When our daughters entered the 4-H program we bought two purebred charolais founda-tion cows and began our purebred herd. Our eldest daughter didn’t enter the 4-H program until she was16, and enjoyed one year of experiencing all the program had to offer and then chose to be a helping handwith our herd instead of a 4-H’er. Our youngest daughter was a 4-H member for eleven years and thoroughly enjoyed the competitions and showmanship Our farm has helped many young 4-H members tostart their 4-H careers and we always enjoyed helping them; and also watching the nail biting parentsproudly watching them from the sidelines at the first fairs. As time passes our reward is having them cometo visit and keep us involved in their lives..Through the years we have raised and bred the females that wethink identifies us with the excellent herd that we are proud of. Please come and talk with us, we alwaysenjoy conversation and showing the products of our labour.

This stylish fancy female holds great potential and is sureto enhance any cow herd. Her half sister was the mother of Echo Springs Yagerbomb 11Y who was Reserve Champion Bull calf at the Royal andReserve Grand Champion bull at the Erin fair charlais BOSS show.
