My Dear Parishioners, Today is a day of glory and a day of hope for us all. We bear within us the hope that resurrection gives. Our faith brings to us the truth that God has not aban-doned us. He is bringing us into new life and bringing new life to Christ’s body of the Church. God is calling us out of our tombs, just as Christ called por Lazarus into new life. However, a reality must be faced when we enter into new life. All the wonderful feelings associated with new life must be balanced with the fact that what is new comes from what is old. To have what is new means we must let go of what is old and this process can be painful. Our Jesus Christ has made this jour-ney. If we walk in His way, His truth, and His life, He will join us in our journey on earthly life until we see Him face to face in His heavenly kingdom, Today we enter into Easter season. Give yourself all that God wants to give you by surrendering yourself to His powerful love. Let us surrender our hearts and wills to our loving God who offers us new life on earth and in heaven so that the forces of darkness and evil will throw themselves at you, but they cannot prevail. Be assured of my prayers in Holy Masses for you and your family with all my heart as your pastor serving all of you at St. Louis the King Parish and School. My Easter’s glory be with each one of you. In Christ’s Love, Father Jose Bui, Pastor

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 21, 2019 When Christ your life appears, then you too will ap-pear with him in glory. -- Colossians 3:4

Volume 276

Over the centuries, the Church has demonstrated a wonderful ability to adopt a culture ’s favorite symbols and customs and assign them new meaning. Easter eggs have a very ancient pedigree: nature ’s perfect package, emblem of new life, dyed and decorated and given as gifts in ancient Egypt, Rome, China, and Persia. Just as the long hard winter is over, the egg bursts with promise of life and nourishment. Long ago, Christians came to see the egg not as a symbol of spring ’s rebirth, but of ours, and as a sign of Christ ’s tomb. A Polish legend says that Mary, in compassion for the soldiers at the cross, gave them eggs, but that her tears stained their shells with bril-liant color. Legends have their origin in tales told around a hearth, but they often contain a profound truth. The idea of Mary, the first Christian, engaged in a merciful act of forgiveness and tenderness even in the shadow of the cross, describes the age-old wish that Christ Easter in us.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

Easter Sunday is the greatest of all Sundays, and Easter Time is the most important of all liturgical times. Easter is the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost. It is character-ized, above all, by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death. The word "Easter" comes from Old English, meaning simply the "East." The sun which rises in the East, bring-ing light, warmth and hope, is a symbol for the Christian of the rising Christ, who is the true Light of the world. The Paschal Candle is a central symbol of this divine light, which is Christ. It is kept near the ambo throughout Easter Time, and lit for all liturgical celebrations.

¡Bendito eres!
