What are the strengths of this topic/lesson?1. Coral reefs is an interesting topic for students since they are familiar with cartoons and movies that

involve this ecosystem (i.e., Finding Nemo, Sponge Bob). 2. The lesson involves different skills and processes that help students to became proficient in Spanish

(they need to read, select key ideas in a text, share key topics with others and work in groups)3. The lesson focus on different aspects of the coral reef life emphasizing the interaction with other

organisms.

What are the weaknesses of this topic/lesson?1. Should be designed for more than one session. 2. Some class resources are not in Spanish.

What modifications are needed to improve this topic/lesson?1. The lesson could be redesigned for more than one session. Other materials could be added, like

documentaries. I recommend to design a whole sub-unit with the topic of Coral Reefs.

Please include any additional comments that you think will be useful to you and others at next year’s workshop.

Please let us know of any resources (Web sites, materials, etc.) that you used or think would be useful to enrich/enhance the unit.I used this website http://coralreefwatch.noaa.gov/satellite/index.php along with other materials attached to the lesson.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance with this evaluation. If you are interested in participating in future EARTH workshops, please let me know. Using an activity and completing this rubric are requirements for participation. We will be discussing these evaluations and looking at the existing activities, as well as creating some new ones.
