IEEE-PES day was celebrated in the college by IEEE-PES student chapter on 24 th April 2019 during which Dr. Kannan Tinnium delivered talk on Energy storage for future grids”, Barcamp on Gender Equality and more power for futurewas also organized Student projects are funded by KSCST (Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology). V-INNOVATE lab has been setup for First year students, to have practical expo- sure on fundamentals of Electrical engineering. The Department has an exclusive studentstechnical club VEEE-SPARC (Vidyavardhaka Electrical and Electronics Engineering StudentsProject And Research Club). Department has dedicated staff members with recognized VTU research center Equipped with state of art laboratory with licensed version of MATLAB R2018b TAH and MIPOWER-25 Users. Industrial visits, Workshops, Distinguished Lectures, FDPs and Barcamps are organized to expose students to the real world of Electrical Technology. Mini Project exhibition - platform for students to explore and exhibit their technical abilities. PCB Prototyping Machine, Solar PV, PLC & SCADA Modules have been setup in project lab to carry out projects. Industry Academia board meeting is conducted every year to get suggestions for the overall development. We are happy to bring out our 5th volume of department newsletter E-Spark, which showcases all the activities of the department. I congratulate the team for their continuous effort .

E-Spark is truly sparkling with a lot of achievements. EEE Department has created a history by bagging four VTU ranks including the first rank, which is a laudable achievement. The Department has conducted innumerable activities both at the faculty level and student level including outreach activities. All these activities make engineering education meaningful. I congratulate the faculty and students for their outstanding performance. In future, the engineering professions will be dominated by the Electrical Engineers! I wish the Department all the best and continued success.

Our Vision

teaching learning process and good infrastructure. Strengthen industry institute interaction for knowledge sharing and innovative projects. Inculcate professional ethics, self-learning capability, entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities for overall

professional success. Foster research and development activities for academic excellence.

Facilities and Infrastructure The department has ten individual laboratories and each lab is equipped with latest technology computers, soft-

ware’s, devices, instruments. Laboratories are provided with modern and latest equipments to provide rich

hands on experience to students in all areas of their curriculum, such as Electrical Machines, High Voltage,

Control System, Power System, Electronics, Microcontroller etc.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wuerth Elektronik India Pvt. Ltd. and Mentor Graphics on 16, Aug 2018 during the inaugural function of “Product Development Training Centre (PDTC)” at VVCE. The objective of this initiative is to train the students and make them industry ready soon after their graduation, thereby improving their employability in core domains. The Department ECE and the Department EEE have jointly ventured into this initiative. Mr. Harsha Adya, Managing Director, Wuerth Elektronik India Pvt. Awarded

Dr. RASHMI S from the department of Electrical and Electronics was felicitated by the management of VVCE on Teacher’s cum Engineers day celebration on 15, Sept 2018 for her award of Ph.D. degree in 05, May 2018 from University of Mysuru for her thesis entitled “An investigation of Safety Parameters of AC Line using wireless sensor networks” under the guidance of Dr. Shankaraiah, Prof. & Head of ECE department, SJCE, Mysuru.

Activities at Department

A National Level Technical Symposium on Power and Energy was organized by the Department of EEE, VVCE, Mysuru in associa-tion with IEEE PES Student chapter 28, Sept 2018 . The symposium was inaugurated by Dr. K R Padiyar, Former Professor, IISc, Bengaluru. Dr. B Sadashive Gowda, Principal, Dr. Shobha Shan-kar, Prof. and Head, Dept. of EEE, Mr. Rajashekar, Vice-chair, IEEE PES Bangalore chapter were present. Major Events of the symposium were Paper and Poster presentations, Project Demo contest and Stack and Avoid. Students across different engineering colleges from Karnataka participated in the event. Winners were awarded with cash prizes.

An outreach Activity was conducted by the students of Electrical and Electronics Department , VVCE, Mysuru in asso-ciation with NSS & Red cross youth wing at Kumbar Koppal School Mysuru on 20, November 2018. The students of EEE department conducted a skit to demonstrate the hazards of electricity, then explained students on how to save a person when he/she has got an electric shock. Some life saving procedures like cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), inducing artificial breathing were demonstrated Prof. Gopal Reddy K, Dr. Rashmi S, Prof. Rakshith P & Prof Pooja H K were the coordinator of this event.

Outreach Activity was conducted by the students of Electrical and Electronics Department, Vidyavardhaka College of Engi-neering, Mysuru in association with IEEE PES under the guid-ance of Prof. Rakshith P & Prof. Gowtham N on 9th Febru-ary. The students of Brindavan Govt. High School were brought to the campus and the entire event was carried out in the CAED lab of Electrical and Electronics Department. The event mainly focused on providing knowledge regarding the basics of computer. The entire outreach programme was divided into four sub events. The first part focused on making the students aware of the basics of computer, the second part was to teach them how to use MS Word, the third part was to teach them PowerPoint and the final part was to teach them how to create a Gmail account.

FDP Organised

Five-Day faculty development program on “Personality Development and Neuro-Linguistic Programming” scheduled from 4th to 8th February 2019, is organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru. This workshop was conducted in association with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Chennai. The workshop was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. S. Renukadevi, Professor & Head, Department of Engineering Education, NITTTR, Chennai

Workshop’s Organized

A two-day workshop on “Design and Development of AVR Using PCB CNC Machine” was organized by the department of EEE for the technical staff of VVCE. The workshop was inaugu-rated by Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal and Dr. Shobha Shankar, Prof. & Head, Department of E&EE, VVCE, Mysuru. Principal Dr. B Sadashive Gowda advised technical staff to actively participate and make use of this workshop to update their skill during the inauguration. Prof. Ravishankar .M.B was the resource person of this work-shop. Prof. D Babu Rajendra Prasad was the coordinator of this workshop.

A Five-Day students workshop on “Engineering Solutions using NI LabVIEW” was organised from 6-10 August 2017 for 5th semester students in association with VI Solutions, Bengaluru and sponsored by VVCE ISTE Students chapter. The Resource person for the above workshop is Mr. SUNIL KUMAR V, Managing Director, VI Solutions, Bengaluru. The workshop m ainly focus on a graphical programming approach that helps to visualize every aspect of your application, including measurement of data and debugging.

A Five-Day students workshop on “ADVANCED INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION” scheduled from 20th to 25th August 2018, was organized in association with INDWELL AUTOMA-TION, PUNE and sponsored by VVCE ISTE Students chapter for 7th semester students. The resource person for the above workshop was Mr. HIMANSHU KUMAR Managing Director, INDWELL Automation, Pune. The workshop main-ly focuses on programming for PLC, ADC, DAC, wiring and installation of projects.

Literature review and Technical writing workshop was organised for 7th semester students on 11, Aug 2018 in association with VVCE IEEE PES Student chapter. The chief guest and resource person of the workshop was Dr. G S Javed, SMTS - High Speed Circuits, Terminus Circuits Pvt Ltd. A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes information in a particular subject area within a certain time period. The speaker also highlighted that a literature review can be just a simple summary of the sources, but it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both summary and synthesis. 4

Two-Day students workshop on “INTERNET OF THINGS ” from 02-03, November 2018 was organized for 3rd semester students in association with IQUEST, MYSORE and sponsored by VVCE ISTE Students chapter. The recourse person for the above workshop was Mr. M.S. Manjunath CEO, IQUEST MYSORE. The work-shop mainly focus on the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday object embedded with electronics (such as sensors) over the Internet and they can be remotely monitored and controlled
