    Courses for 14-16Year Olds

As part of the East Cheshire

    Partnership, Macclesfield College

works with local schools to provide

    Foundation and Higher Diplomas

    to pupils aged 14-16.

    Foundation and Higher Diplomas are

exciting new nationally recognisedqualifications that provide general

    education in a vocational context.

    They combine theoretical study with

    hands-on experience and incorporate

a minimum of 10 days of work

    related activities.

Each Diploma focuses on a different

subject and should give you an

advantage when applying for a job,

apprenticeship or further study in that

area. However, it does not restrict

you to a career in that field.

    Diploma students will continue to

study the National Curriculum in their

school, and will attend College on

    certain days to acquire both

    Diploma related and generic skills.

    Students will study Functional Skills

    (application of number, English and

    IT), Personal Learning and Thinking

Skills (such as teamwork and selfmanagement) and depending on the

level of the qualification will also have

the chance to broaden their studies

    through Additional or Specialist

    Learning modules e.g. GCSEs in

    Business and Enterprise or Graphics.
