EAT HEALTHY THIS FESTIVE SEASON5 Simple Tips from

CHOOOSE YOUR TREATS

Be selective when indulging.

By all means, enjoy your favourite

holiday treats. But, rather than

inhaling each piece of junk food that

comes your way, choose to savour the

foods you really love.

EAT MINDFULLY

Take your time (and chew your food!)

Amongst the busyness of Christmas, it can be

tempting to rush through meals. Try to relish

each mouthful and pay attention to how your

food smells, tastes and feels. Also, try chewing

each mouthful 10 times - it slows you down

(so you can enjoy your meals!).

DON'T SKIP MEALS

Each day is a fresh start.

While it may be tempting to skip meals to

"make up" for a previous day's indulgences,

this often leads to overconsumption later in

the day. Treat each day as a fresh start and

aim to consume lots of fresh, nutritious

foods that nourish your body.

HYDRATE!

Make H2O your friend.

We tend to consume more alcoholic drinks

during the festive season. So, it's important to

stay hydrated to reduce hangovers and help

energy levels. Try alternating alcoholic drinks

with water, and have an extra glass of water

each morning and night.

EAT BEFORE PARTIES

There's more to parties than food.

By eating a light, nutritious meal before parties

and festive occasions, you’re less likely to

overindulge on unhealthy food. Remember – the

festive season is about social connection, shared

experiences, and enjoying the company of loved

ones (it's not ALL about the food).
