The beauty of a natural landscape has provided inspiration for countless generations of artists and musicians. Against the backdrop of Hunter waterways and rivers, we stage our second major music festival in Dungog. We reflect on the growth of the artistic community and the embedding of an artistic consciousness which we hope will seed for generations to come.

In developing the 2015 program of fifty acts, we’ve given weight to local artists, and also those from Newcastle and the greater Hunter. Our wonderful heritage venues enable our artists to deliver their very best to the

audience, and enjoy themselves at the same time! We think our wide-ranging program is fun, entertaining, and a little different - and we hope you do to.

Like all small organizations, Planet Dungog relies heavily on community funding and goodwill and I would like to pay tribute to the sheer hard work, time sacrificed, and financial contributions by the local community, without which Planet Dungog Music Festival simply would not happen.

STRUT YOUR STUFFGet a GIG at ChillbilliesChris Fraser returns to Dungog to host the incredibly popular Chillbillies Café Blackboard. It runs on a first come, first served basis so get in early and put your name down. See some booked artists too – The Dingo’s Breakfast will deliver a musical brunch, the duo Frozen will warm you up with some great music, and singer-songwriter Peter Miller Robinson weaves musical stories while you dine. This is the place to be seen, heard, or just hang out – and you can sample the fantastic food as well!.

CWA Poets Morning TeaMax out on spectacular scones baked especially for Planet Dungog by the Dungog/Clarence Town CWA, while you hear some of the best bush poets the Hunter has to offer. Hosted by twice Australian Champion Bush Poet, Carol Heuchan the Poets Morning Tea promises to feed the mind and the body in one sitting. Entrance by Gold Coin Donation (or wristband). CWA 10am -12 noon Saturday.

FUNNY BONE“Sea Change or Tree Change” In a quandary about which way to go? In tune with our theme of Rivers & Waterways, comedians Peter Willey, Roger Montgomery, Clark Gormley, John O ‘Brien and others will help you make a decision. Or possibly add to your confusion! Short submissions from the floor are welcome, and we’re not ruling out a musical interlude in this frank exchange of views. RSL 12 Noon Sunday

RIVER SONGS COMPETITION This is one for YOU the audience.

Musicians and poets performing at the festival will include songs & poems which mention our theme “Rivers & Waterways” in their gig lists. All you need to do is write down the name of the song/poem on the Entry Form, and the person with the most titles wins a great prize (announced at the RSL 3pm Sunday). You can collaborate as well – but just one entry can be submitted.

It’s easy to enter - just pick up the PROGRAM UPDATE SHEET from the Festival Office on Friday and Saturday, and return to the boxes provided.

HIGHLIGHTSBeatles Unplugged Show – with Strings AttachedSat From 7pm James TheatreBeatlemania comes to the James Theatre on Saturday night with a special multimedia tribute to the Beatles. Brainchild of Kevin Adams, Blake Morrison and Barbara Webb, “Beatles Unplugged” follows the rise of the Fab Four from their early hits ’62 to ’65 to their later masterpieces. The second half of the show introduces a string quartet. The show was a sell out in Sydney and the Blue Mountains and seating for this very popular show is first in best dressed – so be early.

STRINGS AND THINGSStrings of one sort or another are the unofficial “featured instruments” of the 2015 festival. Don’t miss our quirky band from across the Tasman, The Ol’ Guits who play a range of cigar boxes (with a kiwi accent). Featured Sydney band Folklore exhibit a range of instruments including Celtic Harp, wonderful guitar, and fiddle, and Chris Cady returns with his old style blues. With an accent on local, Dungog’s own Fancy will open the festival, and Springtide (which features more strings than you can poke a stick at) can be seen at the Acoustic Concert in the Uniting Church on Saturday.

FILM @ The famous JAMES THEATREKid Stakes – Jan Preston Sat 3pm James Theatre (Concert Spot)Sun 10-11.30am James Theatre – Kid StakesDungog again welcomes Jan Preston to the historic James Theatre to play live for the film Kid Stakes. This highly entertaining 1927 film is a happy irreverent piece of suburban Australiana with a series of lunatic subplots woven around the schoolboy, Fatty Finn, his friends and enemies, and Hector the Goat. Tal Ordell’s movie was hugely popular when it was released, and it is an iconic part of early Australian Cinema. It was shot entirely on location in New South Wales, except the final Billy Cart race (illegal in NSW so filmed in Queensland), a climactic race which leaves audiences gasping with excitement. Jan Preston’s original score for piano and percussion (kazoo, tin drum, snare and plastic bags) reinforces the story, characters and comedy of the film.There will be a Q & A after the film, and fans of Jan can also catch her “in concert” in the James on Saturday.

Cappuccino Tango (Short Film) Winner of Tropfest NZ 2013Sun 11.30am James Theatre We are delighted to show “Cappuccino Tango” at Planet Dungog. The script and music for this short film was written by Ol’ Guits band member Andy Bassett. Andy says about the film…“There has always been a little friendly banter between coffee drinkers, decaf and tea drinkers and I think our film captures that.” Includes Q & A with Andy.

STREET MUSIC & MARKETS Enjoy the street vibe of Dungog with a concert, and street stalls. The Street concert features Newcastle band Quentin Marley Project, Sydney Choir Ecopella, the Inland Navigators, and Dungog High School And don’t forget to visit Jack’s Music stall at the RSL.

AyanamshaSat 6-7pm Dungog Primary SchoolSun 12-1pm James Theatre

A cross-genre collaboration featuring Mike Quigley (drumkit) and Scott Benning (sitar) that combines North Indian melodies (raga) with contemporary jazz and rock rhythms and textures. Ayanamsha takes the sitar out of its traditional context while retaining scope for raga-based improvisation. The dynamic interplay of melody and rhythm allows a distinctive mood/colour to unfold in each piece and takes the listener on a meditative journey of Eastern and Western Traditions.

Beatles UnpluggedSat 7.30-8.30pm James TheatreSat 9-10pm James Theatre

“The Beatles unplugged with strings attached” is an acoustic celebration of Beatles music for all fans and music lovers. It includes a wonderful slide show and interesting narrative which gives a brief history while songs are performed chronologically. The concept was the brainchild of Kevin Adams, Blake Morrison and Barbara Webb. The show starts with the early hits of The Beatles from ’62 to’65 followed by the introduction of the string quartet for the later masterpieces. With rave reviews and sell out shows it is NOT TO BE MISSED!!

Boonabilla BuskersSat 3-4pm CWA

Local singer-songwriter Hugh Merrell, and Cate Green provide sweet harmonies, catchy tunes and local stories in the Australian folk tradition. When not singing or recording with Cedar Arm you’ll find them round the valley at community events and markets.

Buzzard MixSat 7-8pm RSL

The Buzzard Mix is an exciting new band from Newcastle NSW. With an all girl front line that includes the sweet vocals of Camilla Burgess and the melodic brass lines and glorious harmonies of Jodie Kell and Ingrid Moon, this is a sound that will soothe your soul and get you dancing. They draw inspiration from a long line reaching back to the original Jamaican ska outfit The Skatalites, through the roots reggae of Toots and the Maytals to the unique dub soul of New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop. Starting with a rock solid rhythm section, they have created their own sound that moves from ska to reggae to funk, always with an overlay of smooth soul. Flirtatious brass, funky bass and heavenly vocals.

Carol HeuchanSat 10-12noon CWA Poets Morning TeaSun 12-1pm RSL (Host comedy debate)

Twice Australian Champion Bush Poet, nine times Laureate winner, multi award winning writer and performer, Carol is just back from her sixth performance tour of U.S. and Canada. Winner of the richest prize in poetry history - a thirty four thousand dollar tractor (which she can’t drive for nuts!) Featured in ABC series ‘Bush Slam’, Carol is from Cooranbong and is also the main arena commentator at the Royal Easter Show. Her poetry runs the gamut of hilarious, heart-warming, quirky and most things in between.

Chloe & Jason RowethSat 1-2pm RSLSun 2-3pm Dungog Primary School

Chloë & Jason Roweth (vocals, guitar, bouzouki, mandola, mandolin) have been researching and reinventing Australian bush music / entertainment for over twenty years. The Roweths’ broad repertoire allows both the humour and surprising depth of traditional Australian songs, yarns, bush poetry and dance tunes to shine through – songs of the kitchen, the verandah, the shearers’ huts, the front bar of the local, and the campfire. Watch out for Jason’s new CD, an engaging combination of bush poetry and dance tunes, “That’s Not How I Heard It”.

Christopher Cady Sat 11-12noon Dungog Primary School

Christopher Cady plays Ragtime Blues in the Piedmont style – sort of stride guitar really – and, drawing from the works of the old blues-masters such as Blind Blake, the Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Willie McTell, he puts out an authentic performance that is nonetheless all his own.40 years on (and still playing!) there is a stamp of authority about both guitar and vocals which recognises the affinity between the source material and his singing and playing. His performances are garnished with a sardonic wit and dry humour, and one is left in no doubt that this is as close to the real thing as you are going to get.

CurraghSat 2-3pm James TheatreSun 10-11am Dungog Primary School

Hailing from the Illawarra (not County Kildare!), Curragh have made a number of marks on the musical board in the short time they have been together.Supporting Eleanor McEvoy for their very first gig may have been considered a trial by fire however this group of experienced performers blend seamlessly together to produce beautifully arranged Celtic songs and tunes stamped with their own unique brand.Curragh’s members, having worked together in a variety of combinations over a number of years have finally hit the Illawarra folk scene, bringing together and showcasing their talents and skills, and were a popular surprise element at the 30th Illawarra Folk Festival in January 2015.

Roger Montgomery & John Angliss, are “The Dingo’s Breakfast”, WA’s popular touring folk act. The Dingo’s Breakfast tour every summer in the eastern states of Australia, appearing at the very best of the festivals, clubs and venues. With many years performing experience under their belts The Dingo’s Breakfast present an electrically eclectic dialectic selection of Oz Music, Poetry and Yarnspinning, with the accent firmly on Comedy . . Beauty!

The Doctor’s WifeSat 12-1pm CWA

Peter & Nicky have been playing and singing together for just about forever; taking and interpreting the best of folk and acoustic music that surrounds us as well as sharing well-crafted original music in their performances. Intricate guitar playing, old style banjo tunes and beautiful harmony singing all feature. They have been involved in the folk and acoustic music community in Newcastle and surrounds for many years both as performers and in supporting a healthy music environment through events and concerts they have been involved in.

The Do RidersFri 10-11pm James TheatreSat 1-2pm Dungog Primary SchoolSun 12-1pm RSL Comedy Debate

The Do Riders play blurgrass, a contemporary bastardisation of bluegrass, old-timey, alt-country and folk. This Novocastrian and Bulahdelahian foursome sing, play double bass and mandolin (both home-made), ukulele, guitar, banjo, and trumpet. They play a collection of oddly titled originals (such as ‘Banjo Hell’) as well as covers of songs that are not considered bluegrass repertoire (eg Radio Head). Jane and Mark also travel to USA every year to harvest new and old songs for this group of misfits to rework. As one punter recently opined – ‘The Do Riders are utterly joyous, even when exhibiting occasional domestic disharmony. They clearly enjoy themselves’.

DoUGSat 3-4pm Dungog Primary School

DoUG – a quintessential Australian name for a ukulele group. It is entirely accidental that they share the brand with Doug Walters, Dungog’s famous cricketing son. But they do have some things in common. They play. And when in form, they’re great!

Dungog High School Musos Sat 10-11am Street concert

Dungog High School is very proud of their musicians who have built a well-deserved reputation both in the local area and in Newcastle and beyond. As well as taking part in school assemblies and formal occasions, the music students have travelled to various venues including Starstruck, Tocal, the Dungog Film Festival and the annual street parade. It is a pleasure to work with gifted students who generously offer their time to represent Dungog High.

EcopellaSat 1-2pm Street concertSat 4-5pm CWA

Ecopella is an environmental choir that sings about the beauty of our world and the struggle to protect it from exploitation and destruction. Founded in 1998 by musical director Miguel Heatwole, the choir serves the environment movement by providing activists and audiences with the opportunity of enjoying a very high standard of a cappella singing. The strong environmental message of Ecopella’s Save-The-World Music encourages positive change in people’s thoughts and actions and offers support to a wide variety of green organisations. Ecopella’s sense of fun fills each performance with positive and satirical messages. Even when the mood becomes serious the beauty and solemnity of the music is uplifting.

Exploding HappinessSat 9.30-11pm RSL

A mixture of funk, soul, Afrobeat music with a wall of sound presentation which will have you off your seats in a minute. If you’re not dancing, you have no legs!

Eclectic smooth grunge with vibes (occasionally), three-piece fun band with excellent musical taste and a unique sound. Donna Cavanough on vocals, Lenny Burgess the engine on guitar, John O’Brien playing vibraphone and all manner of other instruments.

Faraway EyesSat 12-1pm RSLSun 12-1pm Dungog Primary School

The Faraway Eyes are a fresh slice of Americana pie featuring the angelic harmonies of Deanne Dale, Heather Johnstone and Meredith Osborne. They are ably accompanied by nifty finger-pickin’ guitar player Paul (Buck) Buckberry, and blues harp sensation Nick Williams laying the foundation on dobro and banjo. Their repertoire is a unique blend of folk, country and blues songs either written or interpreted by their co-founders Buck & Deanne, on topics ranging from the gravitas of September 11 to the Sweet Sweet Dreams of Two People In Love.

Fat YahoozahSat 8-9pm RSLSun 3-4pm RSL

Their motive is to make you move, and Fat Yahoozah’s bombastic horns and grooving rhythm section leave you little choice but to bop your body. Led by trumpeter and composer Ellen Kirkwood, this band of talented, seasoned and versatile musicians from popular groups such as Sirens Big Band, The Bakery and Watussi, mesh a bunch of styles from around the world; from afrobeat to klezmer, to mariachi and middle eastern, and some beats less easily defined.

Folklore brings together the fine talents of Rosie McDonald, Fiona McVicar, Cliona Molins, Ken O’Neill and Anthony Woolcott, all well-regarded musicians on the folk festival scene as traditional-style session players, soloists and members of bands, Mothers of Intention, RAPT, Triantan and Jiggery. For these time travellers in sound, past is present is future, the human state really not changing over the millennia despite the march of time. Together, they unlock the secrets shrouded in the words, music, symbols and stories of the past – from murder ballads and songs of revenge to rousing sea shanties; from songs of the joy of lovers re-united to choruses delighting in the seasons; from lively Bard songs to beautiful and tender love songs; from toe tapping, skirt-swirling fiddle tunes to evocative mist-swirling airs on the harp.

Barbara Webb and Kevin Adams are a Sydney duo who create and perform their own brand of original jazz/folk. They have performed widely in Australia, and overseas. Of their recent album “Skin” Don Bannister wrote … “This album is far from frozen, grey, dark brown or dead. It has a warm oozing liquid sensuous feel with bright colours and is very much alive. In fact this is one fabulous album.“ In Folkus Magazine.

Explosive vocals from Lydia and Krystine take you through blues, funk and soul classics with crack backing from Peter, Jerome and John. funKtus have honed their skills in bands in Sydney and Newcastle, coming together to “tear the roof off the sucker”.

Garland-Fine – two strong voices and fine instrumentalists, compelling performers of traditional and contemporary acoustic music. Carole Garland, well known in Australia and the UK for her powerful Alto voice and her magnificent concertina playing is joined by Michael Fine, tasteful finger style guitarist and singer with his own unique style and charm. Together, an exciting musical duo with a strong folk heritage based on Border Ballads (from the Scottish/England border region), Tyneside classics, great Australian and international folk classics, and even a couple of self penned masterpieces.

Green Tea SerenadeSat 1.30-2pm Uniting Church

Green Tea Serenade are a collective of all singing string players performing originals with an alternative folk bent. Strident vocal harmonies accompanied by a rotating mix of cello, violins, mandolin, ukelele, guitar, double bass and percussion. Diverse influences are imbued through soulful ballads, hypnotic grooves, insightful wit and dance tunes, not to mention the infamous tea inspired set!! Inspirationally refreshing... with lashings of sunny toe tapping warm heartedness.

The Australian musical Reedy River in 1979, brought together the founding members of ‘The Navs’. The Jumping Fleas are a fun time ukulele band from the Blue Mountains in NSW. This is their second appearance at Planet Dungog. They cover a wide range of popular classic tunes from Queen to ACDC, Lou Reed to Elvis Costello, Paul Kelly to Cyndi Lauper. All are given “the Fleas” treatment and delivered with four part harmonies, accomplished musicianship and a sense of humour, guaranteed to get the party started. They also have a sophisticated jazz side and can turn their ukuleles to tunes by Duke Ellington, Rodgers & Hart and Thelonious Monk to name but a few.They have also released a 10 track CD called Scratch Mo’ which will give you some idea of the Fleas sound & the diversity of this mighty little instrument “the ukulele”.

Kathryn Abbott SingersSat 3.30-5pm Uniting Church Hall

Kathryn Abbott is a local teacher and performer of voice and piano. Although she grew up in Dungog, Kathryn trained in WA. She has a central role in stimulating the classical music scene in Dungog and runs the Dungog Chamber Singers, a specialty classical choir. She is also the proprietor of the Long Room Café & Lounge.

Kent Daniel and Bill WisemanSat 11-12noon RSL

Bill Wiseman and Kent Daniel are two of the Hunter Valley’s finest exponents of the traditional dance music of Ireland, as well as contemporary music and song. They have an extensive repertoire, which includes a lot of original material. They deliver with good humoured patter and anecdotes, but possess an ability to transport the audience with haunting sounds that seem to transport time!

Klepta KlezmSat 10-11am RSLSun 11-12noon RSL

Klepta Klezm is a 6 piece band that plays an eclectic range of music from alternative rock to Klezmer. Based on the Mid North Coast of NSW, the band have been playing together at weddings, festivals and markets for about 18 months. This is a wonderfully quirky jazz band, comprising gifted musicians. The band play with verve and energy and the songs are all rendered beautifully. Klepta Klezm recently played at the Bellingen Jazz festival, opening for “Feel the Manouche” headed by the irrepressible George Washingmachine, and at the Hot Club for internationally acclaimed guitarist Joe Robinson.

At a ripe young age Luke found himself walking towards the crossroads. Once he arrived a mysterious figure gave him a guitar, tuned it for him and sent him on his way. Since then music has become his religion with his words and music preaching his story and views on the world.Luke’s unique, gritty acoustic / stompbox style showcases heartfelt, catchy originals and he demonstrates an ability to entertain and captivate a diverse range of audiences.

Mañana is an emerging original Pop, Roots and Reggae group from the Central Coast. They have incorporated a strong brotherly bond, and a passion for song writing which reflects in their unique performance. The group write their music as a collective and are constantly refining and developing their sound. They can have you captivated in silence one minute and dancing your heart out the next.

Matt lives and tours out of N.S.W but his musical life has taken him from the west of Sydney to countless cities and towns all over the world. Matt’s unique style of guitar playing and songwriting has landed him on stages with everyone from Tommy Emmanuel, Pat Kirtley, Hussy Hicks (Julz Parker and Leesa Gentz), Minnie Marks to Willie Nelson and many more.

The Ol’ Guits (Jellylegs, Blind Freddie Firkin, Hound Dog Bassett) is a band of talented fun loving musicians who are bringing about a unique revival of Blues Roots and Folk, played on homemade original cigar box guitars, harmonica and percussion, with a unique Kiwi twist.They are visiting Planet Dungog for the first time as part of their Too Good to be Famous Tour 2015.

The Paterson Pluckestra is a ukulele group organised through Mark Jackson and the Sum of the Parts. This rambunctious bunch gather at the Paterson Tavern on Monday nights to pluck, strum and sing an eclectic assortment of songs. They have enjoyed serious fun playing for A J Leonard, Planet Dungog 2013, Newcastle Ukestra Showcase and the Newcastle Ukulele Festival.

Peter is an award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is a storyteller with a keen eye for the foibles and folly of human interaction. Peter has shared the stage with many international and local artists including Rodrigues, Bo Diddley (RIP), Eric Burdon, Chris Smither, Chris Wilson and Stephan Cummings. Phil is a folk singer from Newcastle, singing contemporary and traditional folk songs accompanied by acoustic guitar and five-string banjo. He’s been around a while, and has lots of songs to share.

Putty Road combines the talents of Jane M Harding (vocals, guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, whistles, clarinet) and Amanda Broberg (vocals, bouzouki, guitar). The repertoire ranges from Jane’s original songs through an eclectic selection of covers, to tune sets from the Australian, Scandinavian, Celtic and Old Timey traditions. All of this comes with a side serve of blues for good measure. Putty Road is a versatile and exciting combination featuring stunning vocals and great arrangements, and coming to this year’s festival with a brand new CD – Breakfast at the Blue Wren Cafe.

The QMP are known for the creative juxtaposition of jazz, rock, surf tunes, and blues … pretty much anything really… and deliver a show that is as inclusive to all tastes as it gets.

Ralway Bell are an Alt-Country, Folk-Rock band from Fremantle WA. The singer / songwriter in the band is Ben Wilson who was born and raised on a beef property in Gloucester N.S.W. where he spent much of his childhood riding his horses in preparation for Campdraft and Sporting events around the Hunter Valley, including plenty of trips to Dungog for shows, rodeos and various other events. Although Ralway Bell are normally a five piece band they’re performing in duo mode at Planet Dungog. Accompanying Ben on this trip is lead guitar slinger, James Allsopp. James’ rich guitar tones and smooth country licks are the perfect accompaniment for these tales of love, loss, hope and defeat. It’s Americana tones with Australian themes, language and landscape. Think Paul Kelly crossed with Tom Petty, and some Randy Travis thrown in too!

2013 festival favourite RUBY BLUE brings together the talents of two award-winning, established singer-songwriters in delicious harmony. Maureen O’Brien (Trad&Now Best Album Blues and Roots) and Anousha Victoire (1233 ABC Music Awards Folk, World) perform their favourites of the Americana /folk genres, as well as their own original songs. Influenced by folk/roots icons Dar Williams, Gillian Welch, Red Molly,

Indigo Girls, The Waifs, this duo take audiences on an uplifting journey with their soaring vocal harmonies, accomplished guitar and piano, and sheer infectious joy onstage.

A sonic surprise of strings! Jackie Luke has been playing and performing hammered dulcimer for more than two decades. She has taken the dulcimer into diverse musical settings including the QSO for the Lord of the Rings film score, an eclectic folk rock band (Fellowship of the Strings) and recently she played Greek Sandouri for the Theodorakis classic To Axion Esti at City Recital Hall, Sydney. Joined by Greg Wilson (Celtic Harp, Accordions) and the innovative cellist, Rita Woolhouse, they make up Australia’s most distinctive trapezoidal trio. Expect to hear classic O’Carolan, strangely titled Cornish tunes, and Greek ballads alongside songs about Jackie’s Kiwi heritage. Tap your feet or just chill out.

The Squeezebox Trio are a Hot Gypsy Swing quartet based out of Sydney. Sweet Songs and Soft Guitar is a vocal duo based in Newcastle NSW. Kathy and Matthew Clarke perform songs of Love, Hope, and Caring for the environment and each other. Kathy’s stunning vocal clarity is supported by Matthew’s gentle guitar style. The name “Sweet Songs and Soft Guitar” is inspired by the lyrics of Eric Bogle’’s song “Kate and the Dreamtime Land” referring to the beautiful ambience of session music and songs around the camp fire shared with friends. Sweet Songs and Soft Guitar is an uplifting experience in the folk tradition. You can also see Matthew about Dungog as the “Bicycle Busker”.

The Syndicators are an indie rock quartet from Kempsey NSW. Fresh from winning Sydney’s YOUTHROCK competition, this band will rock your socks off and have you wanting more. Featuring Jane Eller with her sweet vocals and engaging personality, Simon and Claire Robinson, siblings of international guitarist Joe Robinson, on lead and bass guitar and killer drummer, Jason Overton. The band, despite their tender years have collectively played hundreds of gigs from Melbourne all the way up to Brisbane, this including support slots for artists such as Joe Robinson, Mental as Anything and Phil Emmanuel. The band is currently writing and recording their second album at origami studios, Sydney.

Megan Edwards and Sally Hunt are a vocal keyboard and cornet duo that blends classic jazz, Broadway tunes, and old time blues for elegant cocktail and dining entertainment. Both classically trained musicians, their repertoire draws form traditional classical, and easy listening ballads to theatrical themed shows and singalongs. Megan and Sally are local to the Dungog area.

Ukastle UkestraSat 11-12noon James Theatre

The Ukastle Ukestra is a cross between a ukulele orchestra, a choir and a musical theatre experience from “Hair”! We play original arrangements of songs taken from all genres (including pop, folk, world music and jazz) but send them to new places and back again by arranging them for ukulele and voice. We believe in giving a show, more than just a collection of songs!

Ukestral Voices Sat 3-3.30pm Uniting Church

This is a community choir with a little difference, i.e. a ukulele difference. Three to four part harmony arrangements of songs (Pop, Gospel, Blues, Jazz and World Music), but accompanied and performed on the uke and with percussion. It’s a rich vocal sound with an underpinning of ukulele arpeggios and lead riffs. This choir is now well seasoned and performed at the National Folk festival in 2014 (street choir category) where they even made it into the Elvis competition final! They have boundless enthusiasm and are known for a few dance moves and a bit of comic repertoire!
