The curriculum of Instituto Cervantes Dublin has been developed following the(CEFR). The CEFR is the basis for

the elaboration of language syllabi, curriculum guidelines, testing and teachingmaterials for all of Europe. It describes what language learners need to do toeffectively communicate within each language cultural context. The CEFR defineslevels of proficiency and provides assessment of progress at each stage andthroughout a lifetime.

The SIELE* certifies mastery of the Spanish language toyoung people and adults who speak Spanish as a second language, as well as native speakers.It is promoted and supported by the Cervantes Institute (IC), the National Autonomous Universityof Mexico (UNAM), the University of Salamanca (USAL) and the University of Buenos Aires (UBA),and ensures a strong presence of multiple Spanish variations.

It offers the possibility of completing a full exam consisting of four parts (Reading, Writing,Listening, Speaking), or even a partial exam that certifies particular sets of languagecompetencies. Results will be given in a maximum of three weeks, and candidates may printcertificates or reports using the software provided, and it is valid for two years.

The aim of this course is to develop professional training for teachers who wish to work teachingSpanish as an MFL (Modern Foreign Language) to children, as there is a growing interest and needfor teachers in this sector nowadays.

This course reveals how emotional and cognitive development is vital to teach and learn Spanish asan MFL and offers essential training for teachers to advance their skill set through practical modules.

In this course students will learn:· how to solve conflicts in class· methodologies to teach Spanish as an MFL· how to plan a lesson· the importance of creativity in lesson planning· how to create and use resources· teaching and learning using art, music and history· gamification in the MFL class· the Active Learning and AFL (Assessment for Learning) Spanish as an MFL· how to face the first session· the use of ICT in teaching Spanish as an MFL to children

Intermediate level courseThis course is designed for experienced teachers who wish to develop their teaching skills. It isrecommended for teachers with a minimum of 60 hours teaching experience (no maximum teachingexperience necessary)Objective: develop specific aspects of their teaching skills, acquire new teaching competencies andfurther their professional development.Requirements: University studies (diploma, degree or equivalent issued in their own countries).

Instituto Cervantes Dublin regularly offers a range of courses for Spanish teachers at all levelsdesigned to meet their needs and professional development plans. These courses are also open tofuture Spanish teachers to assist them to prepare for their career in the teaching sector.Courses on offer each academic year are: two beginners, one intermediate and various ELE(Spanish as a foreign language) specific workshops.

Instituto Cervantes offers one Beginners training course in the Autumn and one in Winter). Thisbeginners course is devised for students who have already started their teaching career (with limitedexperience) and require to learn methodology and pedagogy to teach Spanish as a foreign language.It is also aimed at students who have no experience and wish to start their teaching Spanish as aforeign language career. Students must have Spanish as their mother tongue, or have a linguisticability equivalent to that of a native Spanish speaker. All classes are taught in Spanish.

If you are interested in training as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) we wouldrecommend this course. As part of their studies, students will acquire limited teaching experiencethrough valuable hands-on involvement observing and teaching a class. They will also be required tosubmit a written assignment at the end of the course.

Students who have studied Spanish in the past, but have never studied atInstituto Cervantes, are required to take a level test before enrolling for generalSpanish language courses. The exam includes a written and an oral part.Tests can take up to 30 minutes. Price:

Registration is binding. Enrolling in a course at Instituto Cervantes means the acceptanceof the registration Term and Conditions included in the enrolment form or available whenyou register on-line through Please make sure youread the registration terms and conditions carefully.

Our students will avail of a 10% discount in their second course within the same academicyear. It is the responsibility of each student to request this discount at the time ofregistration. Once their registration has been processed, students are not entitled to anytype of discount. This discount is applicable to all returning students.

The fee paid at registration will only be refunded when requested in writing beforecommencement of the course. In this case, the Institute will retain 10% of the total amountpaid as an administration fee. Once courses have started, no refund request will beprocessed under any circumstances (please, read carefully our terms and conditions).Likewise, refunds will not be granted for sessions the student does not attend. InstitutoCervantes reserves the right to cancel the opening of courses when the minimum ofstudents is not reached or due to circumstances out of its control. In both cases, the fullamount paid at registration will be refunded. All courses will commence with a minimumnumber of five students, unless otherwise stated. Classes are taught in Spanish frombeginner's level.
