Why did the first civilizations appeared near to large rivers?
• The control of rivers Tigris, Euphrates and Nile, permitted to
increase the surface to cultivate. The necessity to measure the lands
and calculate the comercial exchange stimulated the maths,
geometry and writing.
Initially, the first writings were: property of land, volume of crops and goods,
to recaudate taxes...
Later, laws, codes, religious texts were written.
• Parallely, writing was developped in both Mesopotamia (3300 B.C.)
and Egypt (3150 B.C.). However, the forms were very different.
