D r. Michael G. Durbin, a native of Chicago, graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.S. in Biology, Honors in 1984. He earned his D.D.S. degree with Honors from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1988 and earned both his Masters of Science in Orthodontics and his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1990. He has been in private practice in orthodontics since 1990, and has been at Associated Dental Specialists of Long Grove since 1998. Dr. Durbin became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2001. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and Academy of Dentistry International. Dr. Durbin is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Durbin has been very involved with both the national and local dental societies and has served as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Dental Society and as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Illinois State Dental Society. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Chicago Dental Society Foundation and as an Officer of the Illinois Society of Orthodontists. He has been a member of the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Illinois State Dental Society. He is currently the President Elect of DentIlPac, which is the political action committee of the Illinois State Dental Society. Locally, Dr. Durbin has been a member of the Des Plaines Lions Club since 1991 and has served 2 terms as the President of the club. Dr. Durbin has been active in his parish, St. Alphonsus Liguori in Prospect Heights, serving in several ministries including a three year term as Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council. He has also been involved with coaching of his son's athletic teams.

Dr. Durbin is married to Dr. Renee Pappas, ageneral dentist whopractices in ArlingtonHeights. Dr. Durbin met hiswife in dental school andthey were married shortlyafter graduation. Theyhave 2 children, Kristenand Peter. Kristen is aSenior at the University of Notre Dame, majoring inAmerican Studies and Pre-Professional studies. She isthe News Editor of the Observer, the student newspaperat ND and she spent this past summer living in El Salvador working at low income medical clinics in ruralareas near San Salvador. Peter is a Sophomore at theUniversity of Notre Dame, majoring in Science-Business,the fastest growing major at the university. He also writesfor the Observer and participates in intramural footballand volleyball, as well as the Ultimate Frisbee team.

In his free time, Dr. Durbin enjoys snowmobiling, boating,and spending time with his family, when they are around!Dr. Durbin recently climbed Mt. Rainier in Seattle andfound the experience to be quite rewarding, although hedoesn’t miss the intense training regimen required for theclimb. The training regimen included hour long sessionson a stepmill with a 40 pound backpack, hour longsessions walking up and down the Northbrook sleddinghill with a 45 pound pack, 6-7 mile hikes with a 45 poundpack, and hour long sessions on the treadmill set at thehighest inclination with a 45 pound pack. This trainingregimen is guaranteed to lead to weight loss!!
