This book cover should have the following five different aspects to it, each explaining a major component of the book. Each of these elements should be explained fully on the back of this paper. 1. Color: The color should represent the mood the author leaves you with. It should symbolize the over-all feeling you have at the end of the book. 2. Font: The font you write the title and author in should represent the genre. It should symbolize what kind of book a reader should be prepared for upon opening the cover. 3. Book Review: (You make this up) This should be one sentence describing the book in a way that makes others want to read it. It should be short and sweet, but more than one word. The review should come from a well-known author or celebrity that your book’s ideal reader would be drawn to. 4. Event: Your cover should hint at one of the events in the book without giving too much away. You can communicate this event through simple objects or symbols as well as fully illustrated scenes. 5. Look at this book cover as an example. It uses the original cover rather than an alternative design, but describes each element effectively:

Color: Blue represents the mood of this book because it is full of tragedy and leaves you feeling sad.Font: The font is fun and interesting, and looks like it is written in chalk. This imperfect, yet personality-filled font shows how this book belongs to the young adult genre (books intended for teenagers) because teenagers will find the font relatable and personal. Book Review: This review compliments the book and makes it sound exciting while revealing it is both funny and sad. It is by Jodi Picoult, a famous mystery writer who has also written a book with young characters coping with cancer (My Sister’s Keeper).Event: There are two clouds on the front, one white and one black. This hints at the fate of one of the two main characters, though they both begin the book in a similar position (both are young people who have or have had cancer)Example Summary: The Fault in Our Stars follows the story of Hazel Grace, a teenager who has been fighting cancer her entire life. She begins the story a loner who feels as though she can only harm anyone who becomes close to her. As the book goes on, she meets August (Gus), and the relationship they develop
