Weekly Letter

This is your Weekly Letter assignment due the week of 9/12 – 9/16. Please remember to carefully edit or have someone else edit your letter.

For you first paragraph I would like you to construct a paragraph that telling me about your independent reading book. Do not forget to include the title and author of your independent book. Please identify the main character, the setting (where and when the story takes place) and then make a prediction about how you think the story will end.

For your second paragraph I would like you to explain what first person point of view is and give at least 2 clue words that help us to know a writing is in first person. Then explain what third person point of view is and give at least 2 clue words that help us to know a writing is in third person. (You have a resource in your binders that can help you with this)

Boxes Needed

We have a fun writing assignment first quarter! During our first writing unit the students in 5th grade will be creating a memory box and using the items complete writing assignments. In order to begin this project, students will need to bring a shoe box or box similar in size to school by Monday, September 19th. If you have any extra boxes you could send that would be helpful in case someone does not have one. We will decorate our memory boxes in class. More information will be sent home about decorating our boxes next week. I hope to have 19 boxes at school by Monday!
