1. Workshop on “Innovation techniques in project identification” on October 10, 2015
One day workshop on innovation techniques in project identification.

2. “Design Software for Photonics” on Nov. 21, 2015
SPIE & OSA Chapters of DIT University organized a Seminar on “Design Software for Photonics” on Nov. 21, 2015. The seminar has been inaugurated by Prof. K.K. Raina, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of DITU, Prof. Shishir Kumar, Director Academics Administration, Prof. Sandeep Sharma, HoD-ECE. This Seminar is coordinated by Dr. Santosh Kumar, Faculty Advisor of OSA and SPIE Chapters, DIT University.
Prof. M. P. Kothiyal, IIT Madras has delivered a talk on “Light and its Applications: Some Landmark Developments”. Dr. Philip Weetman (Research Scientist at Optiwave, Ontario, Canada) has delivered a talk on “Photonics Simulation Software for Modelling Space Division Multiplexing” and demonstrates the various design concepts of Photonics. About more than 150 students has been participated in this prestigious Seminar.

SPIE and OSA Chapter, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, DIT
University organized a Workshop-cum-Conference on “Recent Trends in Emerging Technologies (RTET-2015)” on December 19-20, 2015.
A seminar has been inaugurated by Chief guest Dr. SS Negi, Dirctor IRDE, Dr. R. C. Goel, Chancellor, DIT University (DITU), Prof. K.K. Raina, Vice-Chancellor (DITU), Prof. Shishir Kumar, Director Academics Administration (DITU), Prof. Sandeep Sharma, Convenor (RTET-2015) and Dr. Santosh Kumar Co-Convenor (RTET-2015).
Eminent speakers of conference are Dr. SS Negi, Director IRDE, Dr. B. K. Kaushik (IIT Roorkee), Prof. Satendra Kumar (Kent State University, USA), Dr. Radislav A. 4. Photonics meet 2015 on December 20, 2015 Organized by OSA and SPIE Chapter, ECE Dept. in support of International Year of light –
2015.
The 2015 has been declared as the International Year of light and as light plays a key role in various fields of our lives, so the importance of photonics has been enlighten. International Year of Light 2015, recognizes the importance of rising global awareness of how light based technologies promotes sustainable development and provide solution to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture and health.
The International Year of Light and light based technologies is a global initiative that will highlight to the citizens of the world the importance of light in optical technologies, in their lives, for their futures and for the development of societies.

6. Induction and Recruitment Drive of SPIE members in DIT University on July 5, 2016 Recruitment of SPIE members in DIT University during new academic year. A one week special membership recruitment drive is conducted in first week of July to
enhance the curiosity and interest of the students towards optics & photonics. Students are facilitated by demonstration of optical outreach kits and other optical kits. Our chapter “SPIE Student Chapter DITU” became the India's biggest SPIE Student
Chapter.

9. Guest Lecture on “Introduction to nano-photonics” on September 29, 2016 SPIE and OSA Student Chapters organized a Talk on “Introduction to nano-photonics” by
Prof. Gopal Hedge, IISc Bangalore.

10. Technical Poster Presentation on October 20, 2016
One day paper presentation competition was organized by SPIE student chapter during
Youthopia-2016. The event was coordinated by our SPIE President “Anuj Sharma” and Dr. Santosh Kumar,
Faculty Advisor. First and second prize of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 with certificates were given to the
participants.

FUTURE PLAN
Activity 1: To maintain the reputation of the SPIE Student Chapter, DITU.
Objective: To maintain reputation of the SPIE Student Chapter in DITU and to increase the reorganization of the chapter in other pre-universities and universities in order to promote the next generation communication era (optics & photonics) in pre-university and university and to connect more number of students with the SPIE Student Chapter, DITU.
Activity 2: Advertising and Promotion of the SPIE Student Chapter DITU.
Objective: To promote optics in pre-university and university and to connect more number of students with the SPIE Student Chapter, DIT University.
Activity 3: Best DITU SPIE Student Award.
Objective: To encourage and attract the SPIE members to work with more enthusiasm.

Activity 4: Talk of Prof. Raman Kashyap from Canada on Optical fiber based real time catheter imaging and tracking for bio-medical application.
Objective:
• To encourage the post graduate students for research work in the field of optics & photonics.
• To introduce undergraduate students with the research work field and its criteria.
Activity 5: Optical demonstrations in secondary schools.
Objective: The main purpose of this project is to promote optics and photonics and its role in efficient communication. The goal of the lab tour is for the intermediate students to have a better appreciation and understanding of Optics, by focusing on science, technology and engineering with an emphasis on various engineering disciplines in recent technology.
We would support this school by providing some interesting educational materials in order to improve the education condition and to increase the interest of the students.
