A) Introduction
The Distance Learning (DL) was adopted as per the Ministerial Decree No. (229) for the year 2020
issued by Ministry of Education (MOE), United Arab Emirates. (Appendix 1)
The Article 5 of the decree specifies
“Unless a decision is issued otherwise, Distance Learning is treated as equivalent to the normal
learning (achieved by attending at the premises of the Educational Institution) in all Law, Decrees
and Regulations, but only during the Application period stipulated in Article (2).”
Thus, ALDAR University College, as per the Ministerial Decree is treating the “Distance Learning”
equivalent to “Normal Learning” and is implementing all Institutional Policies and Procedures in the
light of above-mentioned decree by the Ministry
The Course Delivery and Evaluation will be conducted as per the Distance Learning Policy of ALDAR
and the Institutional Polices and Procedures will be implemented up to the maximum possible extent,
where the challenge of Physical distances cannot be overcome through technology.
The electronic channels approved and adopted by ALDAR Board of Trustees are as follows and no
other electronic channel will be allowed to be adopted by any stakeholder, without the approval of
ALDAR Board of Trustees.
1. Electronic Intelligent Academic Software (EIAS) as Student management System.
2. Google Classroom as Learning Management System.
3. Google Forms and Google Classroom as Online Assessment System.
4. ZOOM audio video monitoring as Visual Learning management System and Online Proctoring
System
5. Turnitin for checking the Plagiarism.
B) Types of Assessments
The assessments are broadly categorized as:
1. Continuous Assessment conducted throughout the semester over regular intervals as per the
schedule prescribed in the syllabus. These can be in the form of the following:
a. Quiz Exams
b. Mid Term Exams
c. Assignments (Home/Class/Lab)
d. Case Studies

2. Final Examination/Term end examination conducted at the end pf the semester as per the
scheduled prescribed in the syllabus.
a. Final Examination
b. Final Project/Graduation Project along with Viva Voce examination
c. Dissertation/Thesis/Report along with Viva Voce examination
C) Conducting the Assessment through Distance Learning Mode
The conduct of the assessment depends upon the nature of assessment and its proctoring requirements.
1. The “In-Class” assessment conducted during “Normal Learning” mode under the invigilation
of an instructor will be conducted under “Live Online Proctoring” through the allowed
multimedia communication tools and applications during Distance Learning Mode.
2. All assessments during the Distance Learning mode must be checked for their similarity and
Plagiarism through Turnitin.
The Plagiarism check is mandatory because, due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation the
physical presence of the invigilator for proctoring is not possible and student can access the
information through different sources making the exam as an open book examination.
3. The assessment can be further proctored through Recorded proctoring where the recorded
session of assessment can be screened by the instructor to identify any objectionable activity
by the candidate during the session.
4. The “Take Home” assessments Assignments/Case
Studies/Projects/Reports/Thesis/Dissertations etc which are submitted in the form of electronic
submission are proctored for plagiarism check through Similarity checking software (Turnitin).
5. The Standard format of Google form provided by the IE Office shall be followed. (Appendix
III)
6. Any exam conducted Electronic channels must not exceed the time limit of 30 Mins.
7. The duration of exam shall be controlled by the instructor through switching on and off the
option of Accepting response in Google form.
8. The assessment link for assessments requiring “Live online Proctoring” must be sent to the
student on the official student email ID of ALDAR 5 Min before the start of assessment. The
assessment link must not be shared in any other form or means.
9. The instructor must ensure the clear visibility of candidate in webcam and explain terms and
condition of online assessment to the student before launching the assessment.
10. All the assessment requiring “Live online Proctoring “must be recorded for future references.
11. Any deferment from the exam shall be as per the policy of normal learning mode.

Dear Student,
The below link is to appear for the Mid Term Examination. Attempt only if you are prepared with the
requirements and agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. You must be equipped with a Desktop computer, Good Internet Connectivity and a good quality
webcam.
2. You must align your webcam to show the surroundings of at least 2 Meters.
3. The webcam video transmission must continue for the entire duration of the exam. Any disruption
in the webcam transmission will make your exam liable to be rejected.
4. All the responses will be subject to Plagiarism Check through Turnitin.
5. The template for answering Question number 4, 5 and 6 is attached. You have to upload the file
with answers in the same question in the Exam form.
Important Note: The exam will expire in --Min. If you do not submit the form in time your answers
will not be recorded and you will be marked absent for the exam.
