Time of Joy Lent is a time of sacrifice and discipline but it should not be a time of sadness Instead it should be a season of great joy The first Preface for the Mass in Lent clearly reminds us of this For by your gracious gift each year your faithful await the sacred paschal feast with the joy of minds made pure The Lenten season is also a season of hope we deepen our relationship with Christ through our Lenten disciplines and look to his resurrection to overcome the dark-ness than can cause us to struggle and despair As Christians we are stirring up our faith and love for God and each other so that on Easter we are ready to meet the risen Lord refreshed and restored

Brothers and sisters whether you eat or drink or whatever you do do everything for the

glory of God 1 Corinthians 1031

Do a quick check of your priorities Where does God rank in that list

If Hes not first you have some work to do Putting God first in

everything helps us from putting other gods (like our pride and ego money and possessions to name a few) before God Before

making a decision ask yourself Im I going this for the glory of God or

for the glory of me

Lenten Prayer for Transformation

Loving Father

I invite you into my life today and make myself available to you Help me to become the-best-version-of-myself by seeking your will and becoming a living example of your love in the world Open my heart to the areas of my life that need to change in order for me to carry out the mission and experience the joy you have imagined for my life Inspire me to live the Catholic faith in ways that are dynamic and engaging Show me how to best get involved in the life of my parish Make our communi-ty hungry for best practices and continuous learning Give me courage when I am afraid hope when I am dis-couraged and clarity in times of decision Teach me to enjoy uncertainty and lead your Church to become all

you imagined it would be for the people of our times

Amen
